Given what we know now, the whole thing with Christian telling Locke to turn the donkey wheel seems part of MIB's long con--he wanted the candidates stranded in the past, so that when he killed Jacob in the present there'd be no one there to replace him. Jacob however had been working his own angle, getting the candidates to blow up Jughead so they could return to the present (and create another reality?) Hence him knowing that "they" were coming.

Sanctimonious yes, but they're also the only people I know who are as angry about that episode as I am.

That dark UFO post is sort of stupid, it's little more than a detailed summary of the episode with an assumed knowledge of "the answers" throughout, eg jack and Locke can't see the wood for the trees.

I dunno, but MIB keeps mentioning wood-- carving the walking stick so it will tell him what to do & thanking Jack for putting Christian's body in a wooden box.

btw, that was the worst episode ever. I wasn't paying much attention but the Jin/Sun death scene.. the whole sub scene seemed anti-climatic. but I can forgive Lost if the all the next episodes are really good.. I don't have high expectations

also, how is Michael on the island as a ghost if he got off the island?

he died on the freighter which was in the domain of the island (since jin was teleported)

it turns out that the 2 mysterious guys who seem to have always been on the island were...raised by a mysterious lady who seems to have always been on the island

and the vague mystical phenomena on the island are all being caused by...another vague mystical phenomenon on the island

God like this whole show has been like fumbling around a dark room where no one will ever turn on a light and like instead of actual plot development the writers just ADD ANOTHER DARK ROOM ~B I G R E V E A L~ and they just won't ever stop doing that and ahhhhh

This feels like something Cuse/Lindelof thought would be cool to do four years ago, and stubbornly stuck with even after it became obvious it was a semi-waste of an hour.
