I really appreciate that this old thread brought mookieproof and teeny and jeanne out of the woodwork all at once! I am heart-bewarmed.

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:30 (nineteen years ago)

haha they should make Mountain Dew Burning Crusade

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:30 (nineteen years ago)

OMG THEY SHOULD

The Android Cat (Dan Perry), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:30 (nineteen years ago)

I love Tom's least favorite Mountain Dews, and vice versa.

Diet Mountain Dew is really good for a diet drink, but I noticed this week that it's really markedly different from its sugary sibling -- the way Diet Coke isn't Diet Coca-Cola so much as "a diet cola brought to you by the Coca-Cola Corporation."

Pleasant Plains: I haven't had Australian quote-unquote lemonade, but the San Pellegrino Limonata (which the supermarkets here sell not in the soda aisle but in the organic goods cul-de-sac) has the kind of acidity and lemon flavor that it sounds like you're shooting for, if you were trying lemon juice and club soda. Pricy, about like Orangina, but much less pricy than ordering online.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:50 (nineteen years ago)

The Pelegrino soft drinks are pretty good. Look our for the Chinoto, and the grapefruit flavours. There are two lemon flavours, a sweeter one and a bitter one.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

Man, the Chinoto is gooooood. That's hard to find, though, one of the ones I actually have thought of buying online.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 11 January 2007 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks, y'all.

I was on an airplane recently, trying to stay awake, and I asked the stewardess for a Mountain Dew or Mello Yello or something. She gave me a Sierra Mist, a drink that is caffine-free. Great.

(I would've asked for coffee, but it was already pretty warm in that flying tube.)

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Thursday, 11 January 2007 23:17 (nineteen years ago)

Sierra Mist is more like Sprite or Fresca!!!!

roc u like a ยง (ex machina), Friday, 12 January 2007 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

Sierra Mist is nothing like Fresca

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Friday, 12 January 2007 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

Jon Williams is more like a dork or a swimsuit model!

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Friday, 12 January 2007 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahaha that stewardess was fucking with you!

The Android Cat (Dan Perry), Friday, 12 January 2007 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

still want to change the D in thread title to a J

reverto levidensis (blueski), Friday, 12 January 2007 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

The stewardesses always hate me. I asked for a beer on my Qantas flight, and they said they only had Foster's. That's like going into a restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown and discovering that they only serve Rice-A-Roni.

Quoth Mojo Nixon, on his satellite radio show (which I had the good fortune to hear in a friend's car last week):

"PEOPLE GOTTA START DRINKING LESS WATER AND MORE BOOZE AND MOUNTAIN DEW."

Words to live by.

en i see kay, Friday, 10 August 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

mookieproof, Saturday, 11 August 2007 03:29 (eighteen years ago)

back when they put sugar in soft drinks, Mountain Dew had the most - ELEVEN TEASPOONS!!! in a 12-ounce can.

I am old. these new flavors confuse me.

sleeve, Saturday, 11 August 2007 04:00 (eighteen years ago)

MAN alive I miss Pitch Black. Grape soda + Mtn Dew corn syrup caffeine rollercoaster + some kid's conception of an "evil potion" = SO GREAT.

Abbott, Saturday, 11 August 2007 04:09 (eighteen years ago)

I need to get back to my game here

El Tomboto, Saturday, 11 August 2007 06:54 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

ELEVEN TEASPOONS!!!

That's a little less than I would've thought. Eleven tablespoons, sure.

Eric H., Friday, 31 August 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

Also this new orange one:

http://www.mountaindew.com/about_dew/product_info/gf.php

Which is smoother than the other orange, which always tore the insides of my mouth out.

Eric H., Friday, 31 August 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

Bah no that one I just tries, it tastes like a tangerine peel that was left rotting in some regular dew. They do know their target audience, tho; new flavor is called GAMER FUEL:

Abbott, Monday, 3 September 2007 23:45 (eighteen years ago)

"This is the first time we've created a beverage for an entertainment property, in fact, we believe this the first time a soft drink has been created specifically for a video game," said Frank Cooper, VP of marketing for Mountain Dew. "Microsoft's Halo 3 is more than just a video game, it's become a cultural phenomenon that deserves its own special Mountain Dew extension."

Abbott, Monday, 3 September 2007 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

American "soda" was not nearly as good as I was expecting to be.

For a start, root beer sux ass.

they take the leftover flavoring from everything else and dump it in, so the flavor is always in flux. send PepsiCo a sample of something that doesn't taste awful, and YOU could have found the next official Mountain Dew variety

haha, I never saw this thread, I used to be almost as obsessed with Mountain Dew variations at Tombot. I think I've had all those flavors except Pitch Black II. I'm actually a little jealous.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 13 April 2008 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

ah i love this thread

was thinking about it last sunday b/c i had a hangover and so wanted dr pepper (which i know is not mtn dew) and accidentally grabbed a diet dr pepper CHOCOLATE-CHERRY flavour.
first of all, how is this even a flavour of dr pepper that exists in the world. and second of all, could it be more awful. but hangovers do weird things to a person and i ended up drinking the whole thing, mostly of out confused curiosity. it kind of got better near the end.

rrrobyn, Sunday, 13 April 2008 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

SURGE! This girl in my town won a Surge car, it was weird. Like this ten year old beat up fucking BOAT, but painted lime green with a big ass Surge logo. AWESOME.

RabiesAngentleman, Sunday, 13 April 2008 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

What was that Mountain Dew flavor specific to some Xbox FPS or whatever? Was it called Game Fuel or something?

RabiesAngentleman, Sunday, 13 April 2008 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

http://toolsblog.umwblogs.org/files/2007/09/picture-1.png
Yeah! It was Halo 3!
