don't you wish you lived in cambridge
― call all destroyer, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:03 (sixteen years ago)
really glad i live in cambridge. even more glad i'll be living in chicago in 2 months though tbh.
― toby, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:14 (sixteen years ago)
As long as this thread is revived -- I'll be in Boston June 22 to 24. FAP anyone?
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:15 (sixteen years ago)
yeah!
― call all destroyer, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:32 (sixteen years ago)
oh man, i will so be there
― ksh, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:43 (sixteen years ago)
Cool deal!
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 3 May 2010 14:43 (sixteen years ago)
Cool, I will try to come too. Ned, you must go to Weirdo Records! It makes Twisted Village feel rather boring in comparison.
Cambridge wouldn't be caught dead relying on Boston for anything, right? Although I guess if they had a problem with their water, none of the surrounding communities would care as much, and they'd basically be on their own.
― Michael F Gill, Monday, 3 May 2010 17:05 (sixteen years ago)
Ned!! FAP in June sounds awesome. :D
I was out of town yesterday morning so able to pick up some water easily on my way back. CAD if you're having any trouble finding bottled - I was at the Star Market on Comm Ave this morning and they have tons.
― Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Monday, 3 May 2010 19:52 (sixteen years ago)
Rock -- let's maybe aim for Wednesday the 23rd as the actual FAP/dinner/whatever night! More closer to the time, of course!
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 3 May 2010 19:53 (sixteen years ago)
Sounds good. :]
― Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Monday, 3 May 2010 19:54 (sixteen years ago)
woo!
― ksh, Monday, 3 May 2010 19:57 (sixteen years ago)
hey thanks e! i had actually been livin strong and boiling everything until today when I broke down and bought a bottle to take to class
― call all destroyer, Monday, 3 May 2010 21:22 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, I wasn't boiling shit. lol lazy. They have pretty cheap gallons there so it might be worth a stop.
― Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Monday, 3 May 2010 21:25 (sixteen years ago)
Revive -- so, 23rd still on for a FAP of some sort that evening?
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 10 June 2010 02:33 (sixteen years ago)
I'm still in!
― ksh, Thursday, 10 June 2010 02:34 (sixteen years ago)
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 10 June 2010 02:38 (sixteen years ago)
Sounds good to me :D Where are you staying while you're in Boston Ned?
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Thursday, 10 June 2010 02:40 (sixteen years ago)
With friendly friends (as they say!). I'll be catching up with a lot of folks here and there!
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:39 (sixteen years ago)
Ah cool - just thinking about possible places to go unless you already have somewhere in mind?
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:43 (sixteen years ago)
Somewhere T-accessible, preferably. :-)
― ksh, Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:44 (sixteen years ago)
What direction are you coming from? Which line?
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:44 (sixteen years ago)
Me? I'd be coming from the Orange Line, but I can connect to anywhere.
― ksh, Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:45 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah you. OK - will think. Obv suggestions always welcome.
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Thursday, 10 June 2010 03:45 (sixteen years ago)
Pretty sure I'd be Orange Line as well! As for what, I've had pretty great Spanish and Ethiopian cuisine last time I was there, be happy to try something equally good!
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 10 June 2010 04:04 (sixteen years ago)
:-D
― ksh, Thursday, 10 June 2010 05:28 (sixteen years ago)
Okay so a week from tonight and ENBB is our cruise director. Time/place locked down yet or suggested or whatever?
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 15:41 (sixteen years ago)
i don't think we ever came up with anything, unless something was decided offboard
― ksh, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 15:43 (sixteen years ago)
Nothing as yet.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 15:44 (sixteen years ago)
I say Ned takes us all out to L'Espalier.
― Damn these skinny jeans' pockets. (HI DERE), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 17:00 (sixteen years ago)
Take him to the poetry slam at the Cantab
― Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 17:09 (sixteen years ago)
hahahaha yes!
So ned is coming from orange line and Dan and CAD are in Somerville. If ned got to Sullivan Sq. I would happily pick him up and drive somewhere in Somerville. It's your hood Dan. What's good!?
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 19:49 (sixteen years ago)
tbh the best bet is Davis Square; it's easiest to get to for the folks without cars, relatively easy to park in for the folks with cars* and there are approximately a gazillion bars and restaurants of all different types
also Ned will likely be riding with me and mrs me unless he's off touristing somewhere without us, so he probably won't need a ride
In Davis, we could do:
Redbones - BBQOrleans - Americana/PizzaDiva - IndianJohnny D's - BBQ apparently? + musicJoshua Tree - American bar foodThe Burren - Irish bar foodSabur - MediterraneanRudy's - MexicanTu Y Yo - MexicanGargoyles - lol ripoffSagra - Italian
*massive caveat: parking directly in Davis can suck a lot but there are a bazillion side streets with parking; it's a question of circling/timing, plus since it's a "walkable" neighborhood ppl tend not to drive there anyway
(btw CAD where'd you move????)
― Damn these skinny jeans' pockets. (HI DERE), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:08 (sixteen years ago)
dan i am on c0nwell st. off highland 10-12 minutes from davis walking
can i also say i ride hard for highland kitchen?
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:13 (sixteen years ago)
i can make Davis, i'd just have to take the orange to red line
― ksh, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:14 (sixteen years ago)
As the visiting SoCal person, taking me to Mexican food anywhere other than a bordering state is a recipe for potential disaster and/or endless critiques. So I vote other locations than those! Beyond that, up for anything, and while I am going to be busy during the day I should be back to get a ride with HI DERE as mentioned.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:15 (sixteen years ago)
drivers wld be welcome to one of my guest passes--u can park near my place and we can walk down to davis
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:15 (sixteen years ago)
hahaha i really love rudy's but it would make a socal person cry/ball their fists with rage tbh
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:16 (sixteen years ago)
― Damn these skinny jeans' pockets. (HI DERE), Wednesday, June 16, 2010 4:08 PM (7 minutes ago) Bookmark
other massive caveat: Somerville has city-wide permit parking, meaning you need a residential permit to park on most of the streets
― Bastards of Young Dro, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:17 (sixteen years ago)
area immediately around davis is well-metered yo
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:18 (sixteen years ago)
ah okay, I'm probably... 15-20 minutes away from you walking? on T3mple on the other side of Broadway
I have not yet eaten at Highland Kitchen but the menu looks great
tbh this is kind of why I want to take Ned there, also they have jalapeno margaritas
xp: ty CAD for taking words out of my mouth re: meters
― Damn these skinny jeans' pockets. (HI DERE), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:19 (sixteen years ago)
et tu raggett?? the lakers are still busting their asses for YOU
― edd|e house is not a homie (tremendoid), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:21 (sixteen years ago)
true, but then you go back to massive caveat #1
― Bastards of Young Dro, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:22 (sixteen years ago)
You know, I've never actually USED the term 'smh' before...
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:22 (sixteen years ago)
I'm sorry, I'm currently watching a bunch of Uruguayans party on TV.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)
xxxp oh, ok! i think i've cut through on yr street to get to 93. we could stage a fap convenient for us at, uh, olde magoun's saloon.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)
my bf lives down the street from the highland kitchen and loves it but that would be a bit tough to get to for those without cars, no?
Out of the ones in Davis I've only been to Diva and Orleans but am willing to tr anywhere that's at least somewhat veggie friendly.
― o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)
xp that should say only us
yeah it's a bit of a hike i would happily run shuttle from davis but we can also pick something more central.
also you raise a good point in that highland kitchen is not particularly good for veg
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:26 (sixteen years ago)
Though Tremendoid, assuming the Lakers win, I will proceed to trash talk the entire time I'm visiting, even though this will mean I'll be brutally killed by having a bunch of Dunkin' Donuts forced down my throat. I hope you're happy.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 20:26 (sixteen years ago)
another option would be East Coast Grill in Inman with their Martini From Hell (made with scotch bonnet-infused Absolut)
the last time I was there, our server wouldn't let me order it ;_; but I did get a shot of the vodka ^_^ and it was WAU HOT O_O
yes I often pick restaurants based on stupid things they do with spicy alcohol, why do you ask
