on a simpsons-related note, do you guys think lisa simpson is symbolic of the fact that women don't make as good music as men do?
― iatee, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 16:04 (sixteen years ago)
i think she's symbolic of the fact that she's a shrill bitch

saw a baniatee off Florida last time I was there actually
When I was a kid I frequently had a recurring dream where I had to fight sapient refrigerators and ovens in a giant, glowing pyramid that had pterodactyls flying over it.

Shurely this is from Ghostbusters?
Anyway, I read this thread. I hate when someone on one side of an argument takes the lazy option of assuming less-than-sincere motives on those on the other side, but option A reppers, seriously?

I've seen this topic being discussed on a couple of different message boards and I've come to the conclusion that I will never understand how people think of option A when hearing this joke, no matter how many times they try to explain it. I mean, I understand their arguments, but I just don't understand how this can be the first thing they think of.

the bullied becoming the bully in his dreams is still a rather dull and unimaginative joke
This isn't the joke though. As jaymc explained:
No, you see, what's funny about it is the fact that he interprets his dream-state not as the biological process of "dreaming" but as a literal place where he takes on alternate personae.

ftr, definitely don't believe it's Ralph excelling at sleeping. Vikings aren't known for excelling, they're famous for pillaging. And Ralph wouldn't consider himself badass at anything, let alone sleeping. That's like American Psycho corporate go-get-em I'm a BADASS positioning. Ralph is a little innocent kid. Maybe he'd say, "Sleeping! That's where I excel," but def not "Sleeping! That's where I'm a Viking!" (So only possible solution is that actually Ralph overheard someone who invented this metaphor to mean badassery, Ralph assumed it meant just being good at something, and then said it -- which is totally insane.)
― Mordy, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 16:56 (sixteen years ago)

Assuming there are people who actually believe the other definition tho -- it's like some crazy The Room shit where I come across a person with clearly a totally different perspective on life than I have. One that is influenced by insanity. When dyao watches The Room I want to know if all the character's motivations make total sense?
― Mordy, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 17:01 (sixteen years ago)
have never watched the room. and was not trolling itt, tbh and tbf.

Kyle Vogt, who played Peter, quit the film halfway through the shoot.[10][11] His lines in the last half of the film were given to Greg Ellery,[11] whose character is never introduced, explained, or addressed by name.[10] Ellery's character is listed in the credits as "Steven".[10]

In an early scene, halfway through a conversation about planning a birthday party for Johnny, Claudette off-handedly tells Lisa: "I got the results of the test back. I definitely have breast cancer."[15] The issue is casually dismissed and never revisited during the rest of the film.[15][21]
OMG
I know we have a thread on this already but WAU

Question: When Denny says 'give me 5 minutes and I'll give you your money' and the thug is like '5 minutes? i don't have 5 fucking minutes, denny' and pulls out his gun -- does that seem totally unreasonable to anyone else? Everytime I see it I'm like, "Dude! 5 minutes! Don't shoot Denny and throw your own life away just because you can't wait 5 minutes, a totally reasonable request, before he gives you the money he owes you."
― Mordy, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 17:06 (sixteen years ago)
nb: I've never watched the Room not stoned. (nb I've watched The Room 13 times)
i just typed out and deleted a long retread of pro-b logic so it is not like i don't understand the awful siren song of this thread but even still these arguments went to some weird places
