"Viking" is not a metaphor for being excellent at something or 1995 slang for the same.

I really don't think it is - it's essentially the political equivalent of "hipster," i.e., if it's a phantom, it's one everybody's seen enough of to know that they want to avoid it

I've no idea why this thread has 500+ answers, but I just wanted to say I've always thought it was the first option, because...

A) the way Ralph pronounces the sentence, and

B) a bullied little kid dreaming of being an actual Viking isn't much of a gag, but Ralph being a "Viking of sleep" is pretty funny.

If the second option would be true, it would be a rather bad joke.
