this is the same place that charges $8 for a plate of bread and "artisanal" butters, so go figure. i love the food at the ssam bar, but at this point i think that d.chang sits around cackling while playing in ballpit filled with money.

Avoid Bobo. Bruni's review last week in the NYT was pretty spot on. At least it wasn't frighteningly expensive. Among the most disappointing tasting menus I've had. At least the wine pairings were pretty great.

Oh, and I finally ate at Shake Shack. Them burgers are good but I thought the mushroom burgers were basically fried cheese balls.

dudes i finally tried no. 7! and loved it!

one of my friends has been raving about bar boulud. her mother comes into town fairly often, and that's been their go-to spot. it's a bit pricey for me at the moment, though i'd love to try it.

i want a job where i get paid to eat at these places because its going to be very difficult to keep eating at nice restaurants when im not living with parents and have to pay rent

I haven't been to bar boulud. based on limited experience, i'm not a big fan of his. I might try it for lunch at some point, tho.

same here. for me, it's the perfect stop-off on the way in.

i just had a fried poached on my salad at no. 7 and it was decadent for sure

those eggs/that salad were my favorite part of the meal

ok as long as we're talking about what i ordered at 7: we split the broccoli tempura and the tuna to start (YUM), and i had that egg/ham plate, with the green salad + goat cheese crouton thing as my entrees

"hipster" come to completely and exactly supplant "hippie" as the catch-all word for young people with fashionable clothes whose source of income is unknown but probably suspect and who seem to be irritatingly more sexually successful than we/i are/am

um, what? i think the hippie connection makes sense in that people have used both terms with disdain to refer to the inauthenticity of the fashion/behavior choices involved, but as for sex (do hipsters have sex? i didn't know), we, like, don't live in the '60s anymore and stuff.
