i think the point was that before chefs would just concoct munchies for themselves and other chefs after their shifts at fancy white-tablecloth joints, but now they have restaurants that reflect those after hours hangout sessions and are focused on stoner fare?

king of the eyesores, my condolences. You can't choose how your zombified husband acts, but his bad choices are horrible for him and are going to force some extremely painful choices on you.You need to decide whether you can live with him this way for the rest of your life. If you can't, then you have to decide where your cut-off point is. Then you have to make it absolutely clear to your husband where that cut-off point is and how much or how little you'll support him in making better choices and following through on them - but if he fails to make better choices, you'll cut him off. Then you have to act like you meant every word. That takes enormous strength - after all, you love him.

This is so infuriiating: http://www.buzzfeed.com/amandachicagolewis/americas-white-only-weed-boom#.pjEvR44WO
"David Bruno, an architect of the failed 2015 legalization initiative in Ohio, told BuzzFeed News last fall that he had recently hired, for a cannabis-related company, someone who has a clean record but 20 years of experience growing weed illegally. Both Bruno and the man he hired are white. As for the many black marijuana growers who — in part because of discriminatory policing — did not escape that era with a clean record, Bruno has little sympathy.
“There’s not going to be a clean bill of health for anyone that was active and got caught,” Bruno said. “Those things are not going to happen. There’s a cost of reform and revolution. We’re not a nice society, and there’s not going to be reparations.”"

― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:37 (ten years ago)
how's the weed in denmark?
― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:38 (ten years ago)
Much better than in the US. But they closed the free hash market down, and a couple of years later the city had it's first gang war in a decade. So that was stupid.
― Frederik B, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:43 (ten years ago)
i don't know, buddy, got some amazing weed in the u.s.a. bet you've got them beat on exotic imported hash. but shit, what gangs were involved in that?
― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:46 (ten years ago)
Rockers and immigrants, basically. It wasn't that bad, a gang war in Copenhagen is a very small kind of gang war, and nobody has any experience shooting people, so very few people got hit. It was still stupid.
And I didn't really do weed so much in the us, but it wasn't that good.
― Frederik B, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:51 (ten years ago)
just judging by what euros tell me, west coast boutique weed down to delivery service regs blow them away, but they were mostly from the uk so maybe that doesn't really count. what else are you guys doing over there? what's a gram of blow go for? lotta pills?i'm going to watch this al jazeera report on denmark's gang war.
"I don't think that the Danes as such are racists. But I think that they are afraid of what is going to happen with our society. It is about you are either with us or against us. I think that Bush rhetoric has been very sort of contagious also into Danish politics," Magrethe Vestager, the leader of Denmark's Social Liberal Party, says.
did you spend a while in the u.s.? what were you up to?
― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 11:59 (ten years ago)
If being a bit judgmental I would guess that the US probably has more weed diversity, a higher ceiling for boutique weed, but lower standard of bong culture weed. Copenhagen had the free market i Pusher Street. Which was free of hard drugs. I would guess that uk weed culture is rubbish, but that is solely based on their food culture and extrapolating that they have no taste at all. Sorry, uk ilxors.
I have no idea about drug culture. I did a bit of weed when I was younger, but never anything else but that.
I studied at UCSD for a year. So I was living in San Diego. And perhaps it's college bong culture, not really representational for weed culture at large.
― Frederik B, Friday, 18 March 2016 12:42 (ten years ago)

― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 18 March 2016 13:56 (ten years ago)
Well, not really, but they're doing their best. It definitely hurt it, and made a lot of the trade go underground. But I'm talking about something that began way back.
― Frederik B, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:05 (ten years ago)
frederik when did you last smoke weed in the US?
― marcos, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:10 (ten years ago)
ime the weed scene has changed dramatically in the US, the proliferation of high potency strains enabled by more relaxed medical & recreational cannabis laws has made it far far easier to find good weed. i haven't smoked that much weed in europe beyond amsterdam but even there i thought high potency US weed was much better
― marcos, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:12 (ten years ago)
15-20 years ago unless you lived out west or had a good connect i do think it was harder to find good weed, "kind buds" only rarely came around when i was in high school in the midwest but now i honestly feel like it is harder to find cheap brick mexican schwag (not that you would want to)
even "college bong culture" now utilizes boutique weed ime
― marcos, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:15 (ten years ago)
both have good weed but my perception is that the u.s. has MORE good weed, more r&d more people growing more people smoking more discerning consumers more retail operations. but i haven't smoked weed in europe in a long, long time.
also, freddie if you have any other stories about ucsd dorm room hijinks or trips down to tj whatever....
― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:16 (ten years ago)
a lot of the weed coming out of mexico is fire now, too, mildly compressed crystally popcorn.
― dylannn, Friday, 18 March 2016 14:17 (ten years ago)
California > Christiania > UK ime. There's not that much in it tbh, it's just harder to get good stuff in the UK than the others.
What this has to with food culture is beyond me, but then "I have no idea about drug culture. I did a bit of weed when I was younger" might explain that.
