Just got offed, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

once a guy asked me if I played Magic in high school and after I said no, he replied, "Yeah, even the nerdiest girls aren't nerdy enough for Magic."

jessie monster, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

laurel's look = "fuck you and your bullshit photography"

:)

Or, I have just asked her to prom, and she's not even going to dignify that foolishness with a response.

High school scarred me.

dan m, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

I think that makes you the most desirable woman alive, bell_labs. xxxp

jessie monster, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

oh i am just going to give it away: i was at an anime club. wow embarrassing.

some kids tried to hook me into magic the gathering, but as a kid who NEVER had money, i just got their cast off cards, i think i only ever paid $2 total for my cards, and was whupped over and over until i quit one day and never looked back.

however i definitely played D&D! for WAAAAAYYYY too long (read: until i moved to montreal abt 2 years ago). but that is NOT embarrasssing becuase it was basically a bunch of great dudes hanging out and occasionally playing games but mostly making funny jokes.

MANY XXXXXXPOSTS it was not quiz bowl, they didn't havei t in Canada, BUT we had Reach For The Top which is the same tihng, i think, and I was on that team!!!!!

Will M., Monday, 7 January 2008 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

what is quiz bowl?

jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

Academic Decathlon veterans unite. (We won the San Diego championship in my junior year.)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

oh man this calls for a thread

dan m, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

Jessie, you are the gorj in hs, those are some sweet cheekbones.

Laurel, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

Laurel, you kinda remind me of Nona Mecklenberg (sp?) in that first pic.

roxymuzak, Monday, 7 January 2008 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

bell_labs, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

bell_labs, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

Uh. Were we the same person in high school, or what.

roxymuzak, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

Was it JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE

roxymuzak, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

Quiz Bowl is like "Jeopardy" except in a five-on-five match-up.

My step-father (who is a math teacher) complains that it doesn't get the press coverage that football gets.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

He also believes that a out-of-the-park home run should be discounted as a foul since the ball has left the area of play.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

xpost roxy we might have been!! except all you girls were cuter than me. the teenage years were awkward ones.

bell_labs, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

I did geography bowl and some scholars bowl. And BIBLE BOWL

xpost i didnt feel cuet

roxymuzak, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

None of us felt cuet, I for one was an outcast who never dated or kissed or flirted and read a lot of books to use up the time until I could leave my hometown.

Bell labs, on the other hand, at least gets to be a knock-out adult, which is what everyone who matters will remember, anyway.

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

Noodle Vague, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

That earth science manual is somewhat reminiscent of the Music has The Right To Children cover.

Just got offed, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

Noodle Vague, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

Fifteen to One is a quiz but I don't know how you play it in teams.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:16 (eighteen years ago)

theyre not just laughing theyre jumping on his hed

jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

LJ: I learnt photoshop (badly) when restoring that scan from a poster that had been torn in two

NV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifteen_to_One

there was a school's edition which was lame, and all my team mates were idiots so we did really badly. Schools (i.e. team) version was 3 teams of 5.

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

caek looks disgusted at the Lord of the Flies shit going down tho.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, he was asking the questions.

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

Gee you kids, it was all Blockbusters when I were a lad.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:21 (eighteen years ago)

you have between you lodged the 15 to 1 title music keyboard tone in my head :-/

Just got offed, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

The girl on the left in that photo was famously loopy, although I'm not sure how much the reputation was deserved. She was allegedly caught fingering herself in French (for real) and had a coffin in her bedroom.

The girl on the right was was proud that her dad was a Tory counciller.

Indian guy is now a dentist.

caek, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:24 (eighteen years ago)

Most of our Pub Quiz mafia went on 15 to 1 at some point. The main reason I could never be arsed was cos there was no money involved.
