The thing with Coke, though, is that most people are probably fans of the PRODUCT more so than the COMPANY -- though in some cases it's probably hard to separate the two.

WELL, the date went alright i think. i had a great time, and i thought she did, too. but then when i said "we should do this again!" there was slight resignation in her voice with "oh, yea." i'm really fucking bad at reading social situations, so i'm not sure if i misread her having fun or if it was the way she said "oh, yea" that i missed.

i'd say there's a 30% chance of a second date. time will tell.

...

one time i had an impulse to go into the most embarrassing store i knew and buy the most embarrassing shirt i could find. hence the twilight shirt from hot topic.

and i wore a polar bear shirt instead. same vein, but less gay. i'm not convinced the clothes had much to do with it. we talked about religion, politics, and my complete sexual history. and most of those topics were her idea. she'd asking something, i'd say a little about a given topic, then wait for a response to make sure i hadn't gone too far. sure enough, she was playing right along with the conversation! i really don't know why she didn't want a second date; i'm trying really hard to think if it was something i did.

He came thisclose to wearing a Twilight shirt on the date. I am tempted to post the picture.

Cunga, Friday, 16 April 2010 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

kinda confused by the concept of 'the stats' being a more likely explanation for a dude tryin to get laid than, y'know, gettin laid.

marc loi-y jagger rides again

Big Fate (as Alvin 'Xzibit' Joiner) (history mayne), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

Always good to abstractly defend a chick and call her "not worth dating" at the same time.

Ponies are horse children (Abbott), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

how has marc loi not made his way to ilx yet? ilx is the #1 result for his name.

iatee, Friday, 16 April 2010 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

Yes, I'm sure he would find us on that Google search and think 'what a welcoming community, why haven't I joined them?'

Ponies are horse children (Abbott), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:22 (sixteen years ago)

SOrry, I'm being an unfunny wise ass.

Ponies are horse children (Abbott), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:22 (sixteen years ago)

Oh what do I know, maybe she's having fun with him - she certainly seems self-aware enough to treat the whole thing as a joke, or a game. I was just lashing out at all of this because it's so fucking obvious and lame.

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:26 (sixteen years ago)

Well done to everybody involved, you're sure giving us all a lot to think about!

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:26 (sixteen years ago)

welll I didn't quite mean 'become a regular' xp

iatee, Friday, 16 April 2010 20:27 (sixteen years ago)

And it was a very personal 'not worth dating'. I like people to be fun, but I don't want someone who'll buy a very smarmy PUA move hook, line and sinker. Maybe this is naive of ME but this show of 'initiative' on the dude's part falls the wrong side of opportunism and the right side of plain manipulative. I don't like my women malleable.

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, just fucking ban me already, I've got a bad cold and I'm pissed off

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

Just to clarify, I found these highly amusing in a grotesque way until today's updates, where they actually had a date and he started talking about probabilities as if she was some sort of commodity. Then it became sad. The girl needs to fucking shut that wanker down.

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:39 (sixteen years ago)

If I were her I would totally have gone out with this guy. why because he is interesting. This is not PUA stuff iirc.

quincie, Friday, 16 April 2010 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

Of course whether or not I'm worth dating is an open question.

quincie, Friday, 16 April 2010 20:55 (sixteen years ago)

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:58 (sixteen years ago)

about whether you'd have gone out with this guy, I mean

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 20:58 (sixteen years ago)

ok there's mitigation in the fact she spoke to the mutual friend first, ignore me i'm a mess

maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Friday, 16 April 2010 21:05 (sixteen years ago)

mitigation for her, i mean. and i feel bad for the 'not worth dating' line - that was hot-headed ranting and has no place on '"Can I say you're my girlfriend on Facebook?"'. dude's still deeply suspect

ok are you getting this all from a) 4chan or b) somethingawful

:-D neither.

Cunga, Saturday, 17 April 2010 16:12 (sixteen years ago)

So now if I'm attending a memorial for a old friend, I have to 'like' it instead of 'attending' it?

Fuck off. I don't want to like funerals.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 21 April 2010 18:43 (sixteen years ago)

you could go to the funeral without worrying about your facebook attendance

iatee, Wednesday, 21 April 2010 18:45 (sixteen years ago)

lol at facebook making you download and install an image uploader program and pretending that there's no way to code the facebook website image uploader to accept more than 5 images at a time.

When will ILX be on facebook??? When can I <like> a thread??

Mordy, Friday, 23 April 2010 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

you could post a message to the ILE FB group, and then people could respond, thus making it a "thread" of sorts. then, ppl could "like" your original message!!!

ksh, Friday, 23 April 2010 21:42 (sixteen years ago)

He says since Facebook made the recent changes, he didn't change anything, just left it the way it was. He and I went through all his settings and didn't find anything. But will check what you have suggested and see if that's the problem. Thanks!
