Claire had been spending time with fake Locke and when questioned by Jin she clearly states that Locke is not Locke, it's her "friend" or whatever. And the last time we saw her she was hanging out in the cabin with Christian.
I do suspect that Jack is seeing his father and not Locke. I guess we'll see next week.
Re: the boy in the jungle: he looked like a similar boy but with darker hair and older.

re: whispers = ghosts. I suspect Hurley's got it at least a little wrong, and this is more misdirection, like this is not the end of the whispers reveal.
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
thought it was a diff kid. one young jacob another young smokey?
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
Kids are both played by the same actor, though they definitely looked different. Very interesting.
― winnebago taco, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 17:56 (sixteen years ago)
ok so some of the lost peeps can see the kid, and some cant, right?
― HOT DISH THYME MACHINE (jjjusten), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:01 (sixteen years ago)
The mystery kid did seem to be getting older. I really think it's Jacob, and there's some weird thing where he's come back and is getting back up to the right age rapidly.
― mh, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:04 (sixteen years ago)
that sounds okay - jack seeing smoke as his dad no
― conrad, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:06 (sixteen years ago)
In the kid's previous appearance, Sawyer was able to see him, but Man in Black was surprised at that.
― HOOS zing-steen (jaymc), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:07 (sixteen years ago)
there is always a lot of speculation along the lines of "this actor looked slightly different/spoke more slowly/had a longer beard.... therefore it is some kind of magic island thing" which has never 1nce panned out ever ever ever
― max, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:09 (sixteen years ago)
Is Desmond a candidate? Was the rule only candidates can see the kid referees?
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:09 (sixteen years ago)
nor has the "character x sees character y where all other characters see character z"--see sawyer horse
― max, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:10 (sixteen years ago)
when libby said, 'do you mean... A DATE' that drawn-out pause is pretty magic islandy.

I can't wait until L O S T is over and someone who isn't me can pan through all the LOST threads and collect a list of every nutball baseless "theory" that didn't end up coming true

Did anyone else notice the thick, thick makeup on Libby/C. Watros? Troweled on!

anyone think jack may have seen something else not his dad when he looked at locke? his face looked like he had seen an animal of some kind imo.

every nutball baseless "theory" that didn't end up coming true - tru, but what fun is this show w/o otherwise seemingly intelligent & reasonable folks bending over backwards to explain this ridiculous shit

ITS THE SAME DAM KID
― max, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:20 (sixteen years ago)
i've just watched it again and if you look at jack's face (and i think his pupils) it seems like it's an animal with four legs...tho can't quite tell what kind of animal. it's not a cow, a goat, a sheep, or a pig tho.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:20 (sixteen years ago)
this can sit next to and be dwarved by the list of obvious devices and plotlines that came to nothing
― conrad, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:20 (sixteen years ago)
like a pony or a donkey maybe...but a different size.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:21 (sixteen years ago)
Jacob reincarnated, aging quickly?xpost to jaymc's pics
― millions now zinging will never lol (WmC), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:21 (sixteen years ago)
not a pony - his nose twiched like it was not a pony
― conrad, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:23 (sixteen years ago)
this thick libby makeup and ponies in pupil details I'm missing is giving me conflicted feelings over maybe getting a better TV.
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:27 (sixteen years ago)
whatever animal it was it also looked sort of like a person, a southern man
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:31 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, I'd be shocked if that kid doesn't turn out to be Jacob.
― Dan I., Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:35 (sixteen years ago)
Why would the kid need to be Jacob? Jacob can already ghost around in adult-form.
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:37 (sixteen years ago)
I don't know, but come on, look at that kid - that actor was almost definitely chosen strictly for his resemblance to the actor that plays Jacob.
― Dan I., Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:40 (sixteen years ago)
wasn't the earlier theory that the kid was aaron?
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:41 (sixteen years ago)
no one can see ghost jacob but hurley though
― congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:43 (sixteen years ago)
i love how the kid gets under flocke's skin: "DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!" lol
― full government name (cutty), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)
yeah thought that too, would be good if the kid said "smokey has an embarrassingly small penis" or "smokey was bullied regularly as an island child" or something...
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 18:54 (sixteen years ago)

Compare/contrast: Desmond's post-shock fearless serenity & Sayid's post-"infection" emotionlessness. Both are kind of "yeah, whatever."
― millions now zinging will never lol (WmC), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:00 (sixteen years ago)
well...sayid is actually dead which could make a diff.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:01 (sixteen years ago)
dead is dead!
Now that Ilana is dead, let me quickly summarize the accomplishments of her entire team of operatives:
― no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:25 (sixteen years ago)
really laughed out loud at ilana's death ...so glad the black rock is no longer a place for characters to go.
i also lolled at jack 'maybe we could learn something from this experience' shepherd suggesting that maybe going to get more dynamite was not a good idea. also this bit:
hurley: why did you follow me for no reason?jack: i don't know i think i'm supposed to follow you.. where are you going?hurley: i've no ideajack: k
i mean i understand this stuff is basically an in-joke now but srsly this sequence followed by the whispers explanation was really really bad.
so wait can someone help me here? is desmond jumping between the timelines or isn't he? in the last ep we saw him passing out and switching between the two but we didn't see that this week. why did he try to kill locke? i assumed that after locke pushes him down the well he switches back to the alt timeline (and he doesn't realise that it wasn't really locke). or is he just aware of both?
― po-mo da don (tpp), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:25 (sixteen years ago)
who says locke in the alt isn't mib?
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:27 (sixteen years ago)
The kid said so. Also he mentioned that he has an embarrassingly small penis.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:29 (sixteen years ago)
^^^ *SPOILER* btw
there was that episode where alt-locke was presented as having all the same issues as locke in the other timeline. but i suppose the smokemonster might just want to get free so he can work in a school and chill sure
― po-mo da don (tpp), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:31 (sixteen years ago)
Worst thing that could happen to the world, no doubt, Richard.

Smoke monster in a wheelchair. I know, I know, it's serious.
― no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:34 (sixteen years ago)
locke did seem a bit smokey-esque in that ep with ben...
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:37 (sixteen years ago)
He seemed pretty normal when he was chillin' with Peg Bundy.
― no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:38 (sixteen years ago)
yeah that's true. wasn't there some scene in the staff room where he was sort of tempting ben into thinking he should be head etc? it seemed deliberately meant to be flocke-like...
but i agree he was pretty normal hanging out with his one true love.
having said all this, isn't it now sort of clear that the alt is after the on island stuff? i mean...if these are "memories" that everyone is having.
― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:40 (sixteen years ago)
desmond is the one wearing all black in the alt, btw
