Solid guess.

i'm guessing this is a con to get at his $

ampersand (remy bean), Wednesday, 14 April 2010 13:51 (sixteen years ago)

I def don't think that's it. I think it's more about the disappointment of building up something huge and towering in your mind and then things are simply mundane and mediocre. Your parents look a little older, the reunion isn't only happy, there's all that stuff (like the fact she couldn't take care of him in the first place!) that still hasn't been worked out.

Mordy, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 13:51 (sixteen years ago)

but what's steve deneuve's place in all this??

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 April 2010 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

He's just this guy, who's smart and can see that that old lady can't have a five-year-old. I figure he'll talk to "mom," and she'll gently break it to Philippe that she can't take care of him, he'll secretly be relieved, Steve will take him back to his real home, hugglez. Hopefully they'll get sidetracked on the way back to CA by something totally insane.

this. love melancholic aching achewood, but some wild psychedelic onstad hijinks would be appreciated soon.

Yeah, I think that was just Onstad venting about a bad flight experience in a "Fuck You Friday" strip.

WmC very on point.

Phillipe's mom's house is just like my grandma's house...no food that's edible except cereal, weird hours/lots of church on her part, and the only board game she had was The Ungame. I remember reading a lot of Reader's Digest.

Ponies are horse children (Abbott), Thursday, 15 April 2010 14:35 (sixteen years ago)

The Ungame! Total Christian "ice breaker" type game. And it's visible on the shelf of games in the closet in that one scene in Royal Tenenbaums!

andrew m., Thursday, 15 April 2010 15:05 (sixteen years ago)

Magic realism is all fine and dandy, but I'm looking forward to the punch on the erection.

Why yes, I do love Achewood too! This latest Philippe story is lovely, but I too look forward to the cockpunch.

neither is teodore tbh

I don't want to go into my newt details (ledge), Friday, 21 May 2010 23:28 (sixteen years ago)

I find sociopaths really, really unnerving and upsetting, in fact and fiction, so all Nice Pete strips/storylines give me the karates bigtime.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 21 May 2010 23:31 (sixteen years ago)

the first nice pete story was awesome but he's really, really tiresome

call all destroyer, Friday, 21 May 2010 23:37 (sixteen years ago)

god today's strip is awful

call all destroyer, Saturday, 22 May 2010 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

yeah.

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 22 May 2010 15:28 (sixteen years ago)

looove Nice Pete's smile at the end of today's!

the standing cat (sic), Monday, 24 May 2010 13:50 (sixteen years ago)

I was somewhat annoyed at the couple bickering in the house about the presumptive drug addict on their lawn, but in retrospect it was a decent counterpoint to Nice Pete's mode of human interaction.

Pete expressing joy that he's given a proper role in his high school fantasy is great.

two weeks pass...

my feelings on the current storyline are moving from indifference to outright hatred; if it doesn't wrap up soon i'm just gonna drop this

Nhex, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 03:37 (fifteen years ago)

yeah what the fuck. also are beef and ray even in this comic anymore or what

I am ok with this story.

breaking that little dog's heart chakra (Abbott), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:21 (fifteen years ago)

I am thumbs up with this story. There are hundreds of pages with Beef and Ray to read already, there will probably be hundreds more to come.

dyaon't (sic), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:25 (fifteen years ago)

It's been successful at being at total meltdown, and I think that's what it was going for.

I tend to be entertained/terrified by Nice Pete stories.

breaking that little dog's heart chakra (Abbott), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:26 (fifteen years ago)

It's better than Philippe going home.

Dan I., Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:57 (fifteen years ago)

i really feel that nice pete is going to finally gain enough some personal insights to learn a valuable life lesson this time, even if it takes literally eating the faces of teodor and the elderly homosexual, lips first

del griffith, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 05:20 (fifteen years ago)

hey look at me not talking a good formed sentence

del griffith, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 05:20 (fifteen years ago)

man, i never read this thing. just caught up on like six months worth:

he smoked in the house, which made their cereal have a terrible flavor

DO CORRECT DIRT ACTIVITIES! HAVE A WORM WITH A YARN HAT POKE OUT

after that, though, kind of a desert. worried about nice pete.

Theodore is done-zo.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 16:15 (fifteen years ago)

Teodor is going to be all right, though

dyaon't (sic), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

He might die, but characters do that all the time in this strip and come back from it. My guess is that he'll find a knife in Nathan's pocket, or something he can pick the lock with.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 22:19 (fifteen years ago)

Dude. this is some messed up stuff.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Monday, 28 June 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

in addition to being a rewrite of the philippe/ice cream shop story, this is so bad

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 June 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

I hope this is a Teodor redemption story. the dude has basically lost an average of one dignity per story arc since achewood began, i'd love to see him cold murder nice pete in self defence.
