Uh, so let's see--Sawyer & Miles will arrest Desmond, maybe after interviewing Hugo. Des will help awaken Sawyer's luv-memories of Juliet. And then, uh, more stuff happens.

The whisper explanation was kind of funny. Almost like a bone tossed to all the "I want answers!" people. Hurley should walk around saying stuff like, "So that's why the Others were doing all that fertility stuff," or "So that's why those Dharma drops are still happening."

Why does Des have to go through this whole circuitous approach to get people to remember their alt-selves? I know people probably wouldn't believe him if he directly told them what was happening, but it feels more plausible than hanging around Mr. Cluck's in the hopes that Hurley needs your advice about a woman who thinks she knows him from somewhere.

speaking of LOLing, I turned on the TV a few minutes early last night and so saw the very end of Dancing With the Stars, and the couple who were kicked off were slow-dancing for their "farewell dance" and then all of a sudden the music picked up and turned into a really bad Broadway-style version of "We're Not Gonna Take It" and the guy started doing a very awkward faster dance with lots of arm flailing and boogying and for some reason this struck me as hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing. I was trying to stop because LOST was starting and I didn't want to miss anything but every time I thought of the stupid song and the dude's terrible impromptu dance I started laughing again, until I was crying.

I saw that, too, and thought it was weird, but mostly because "Broadway-style version of 'We're Not Gonna Take It'" also sums up Jimmy Fallon's Glee parody (ft. the cast of Parks and Recreation) from a couple months ago.

Has Jack met fake Locke before? Because at the end I got the feeling from that look on his face that he was seeing his dad.

fake locke has had a habit of asking people who meet him who he is, and getting told either "locke" or "you look like locke but...", so you could be on to something.

jack has never personally encountered his father on the island, has he? only fleeting glimpses. why would he then recognize the smoke monster as locke as his father?

i was confused at the beginning of the episode because i thought "michael" was just "smokey"--did we decide that smokey can only appear as locke now? why does dead michael think he knows what's best for anyone?

yeah Ilana specifically said that smokey was trapped in Locke's body now that Jacob was dead, although I forgot about that when Michael appeared and thought he was smoke dude for a while.

I'm envisioning an 80s-era rom-com movie poster w/ shade-tippin Des in the seated in his car in the foreground w/ Hugo & Libby sitting on a park bench or something in the background - Hugo w/ a "don't look at me" expression & Libby w/ a knowing smile that says "that's so Hugo."

I'm thinking they made Ilana's character extra-obnoxious in the opening scenes, just so that her sudden demise would be that much more satisfying & hilarious.

she was really bangin her handbag around just after hurl made sure to remind us how unstable the dynamite was - was expecting it. not as obvious as so many surprises tho and did quite enjoyed it

Actually, I bet we'll see Christian in the next episode since everything seems set up for it to be a Jack-heavy episode.

What is with all the little woodsy children wandering around the island, smirking at people.

I think cutty means Jack has never had a proper meeting with Christian, which to my memory is true. Christian spoke to him once off island, but never on island.

yeah he might as well donned a visor, pulled out a pen and a clipboard with "questions to answer in season 6 checklist", and been like "and check!"

yeah i definitely cringed when they did that, but unfortunately there is that WE DEMAND ANSWERS crowd they have to satisfy every so often, despite it inevitably being kind of lame when they do explain these mysterious things

just realized: Jacob summoning the storm on the Black Rock to make it hit the island is exactly what Prospero does at the beginning of The Tempest.

good ep tho, the alt stuff is quite interesting now. thought it was cool how the order numbers in mr clucks corresponded to their actual numbers on the island, it feels like their stupid coincidences actually matter in the alt. really really like the idea that the alt is some sort of bullshit world created by smokey....

After Hurley and his Mom exited the banquet I thought I heard her say "remember we have the Human Fund next week" or words to that effect. The Human Fund was a fake charity George Costanza invented on Seinfeld. Anyone else hear this?

Claire had been spending time with fake Locke and when questioned by Jin she clearly states that Locke is not Locke, it's her "friend" or whatever. And the last time we saw her she was hanging out in the cabin with Christian.

I do suspect that Jack is seeing his father and not Locke. I guess we'll see next week.

Re: the boy in the jungle: he looked like a similar boy but with darker hair and older.

re: whispers = ghosts. I suspect Hurley's got it at least a little wrong, and this is more misdirection, like this is not the end of the whispers reveal.

Kids are both played by the same actor, though they definitely looked different. Very interesting.

The mystery kid did seem to be getting older. I really think it's Jacob, and there's some weird thing where he's come back and is getting back up to the right age rapidly.

In the kid's previous appearance, Sawyer was able to see him, but Man in Black was surprised at that.

there is always a lot of speculation along the lines of "this actor looked slightly different/spoke more slowly/had a longer beard.... therefore it is some kind of magic island thing" which has never 1nce panned out ever ever ever

Is Desmond a candidate? Was the rule only candidates can see the kid referees?
