I will miss Philippe if this is indeed his last run in the series. He's a great jolt of childlike (as opposed to over-sexed cat like) whimsy.

I def don't think that's it. I think it's more about the disappointment of building up something huge and towering in your mind and then things are simply mundane and mediocre. Your parents look a little older, the reunion isn't only happy, there's all that stuff (like the fact she couldn't take care of him in the first place!) that still hasn't been worked out.

He's just this guy, who's smart and can see that that old lady can't have a five-year-old. I figure he'll talk to "mom," and she'll gently break it to Philippe that she can't take care of him, he'll secretly be relieved, Steve will take him back to his real home, hugglez. Phillipe's mom's house is just like my grandma's house...no food that's edible except cereal, weird hours/lots of church on her part, and the only board game she had was The Ungame. I remember reading a lot of Reader's Digest.

Why yes, I do love Achewood too! This latest Philippe story is lovely, but I too look forward to the cockpunch.

I find sociopaths really, really unnerving and upsetting, in fact and fiction, so all Nice Pete strips/storylines give me the karates bigtime.

the first nice pete story was awesome but he's really, really tiresome

I was somewhat annoyed at the couple bickering in the house about the presumptive drug addict on their lawn, but in retrospect it was a decent counterpoint to Nice Pete's mode of human interaction.

Pete expressing joy that he's given a proper role in his high school fantasy is great.

I am ok with this story.

I am thumbs up with this story. There are hundreds of pages with Beef and Ray to read already, there will probably be hundreds more to come.

It's been successful at being at total meltdown, and I think that's what it was going for.

I tend to be entertained/terrified by Nice Pete stories.
