I stand corrected. It must have been in my short lived Indie phase.

Is there a way for domain owners to remove former employees from the associated Facebook network?

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

its the good parts about facebook (keeping up with the stuff people want to share w/you online) without the zombie bullshit, and it doesn't ask that you add a dozen apps to "your page" to keep track of it all. just add once and you're up.

carne asada, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

Sort of reminds me of when I figured out an ILXor's real name by anagramming his username.

jaymc, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I too remember Jonh_Smith

Not that interesting a story to be fair but definitely enjoying the "thousands of pounds of taxpapyers' money" jab in there - it was only a sexual harrassment case for a convicted stalker after all. At least the Mail actually mentioned his previous conviction, unlike the Metro (where I just read about this before looking it up) which busted out "taxpapers' money" as well but without any other context to the case

DJ Mencap, Thursday, 27 March 2008 10:48 (eighteen years ago)

split up after a row over whether to watch the Eurovision Song Contest on television in April last year, the court heard.

onimo, Thursday, 27 March 2008 12:36 (eighteen years ago)

also sent an Ian McEwan novel with a note saying "this is a beautiful book" to Miss Sl4dd3n at work in January this year, which she claimed made her feel "sick, frightened and very insecure".

Mr Hur5t said: "I sent her the book because it had certain relevances to the relationship we'd had, it gave me comfort and I'd hoped it would do the same for Sophie.

"I find it difficult to understand how a book can be distressing."

The book he sent her was "On Chesil Beach".
From wikipedia: During the course of an evening, both reflect upon their upbringing and their fears of the future. Edward is prone to fits of violence and Florence is terrified of sexual intimacy: eventually this leads to a confrontation that will change their relationship irrevocably.

The novel focuses upon the couple's woeful lack of sexual knowledge and experience. 1950'S Britain is evoked wonderfully, from the description of the couple's dinner at the hotel, to the girl's fears of the sex act itself.

I'm sure that gave her great comfort...

onimo, Thursday, 27 March 2008 12:39 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know if this has already been mentioned, but fb is doing this creepy thing of suggesting who you should be friends with:

Axxxxx Mxxxxxx just joined Facebook.
Based on your information, it seems that you might know Axxxxx. If you know them, perhaps you should add them as a friend.

this person is obviously an ilxor, based on their friends, and i already figured out which one based on their real name.

still totally weird that facebook is telling me who i know that is signing up to facebook.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 5 April 2008 00:52 (eighteen years ago)

Hah I got that one too.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 5 April 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

If that's me (seems pretty likely), it's also weird because I joined up for fb several months ago. I just started getting friended.
Don't know how to turn off that part - the random connection to anyone in the larger interconnected fb world, which is pretty vast.
Anyway - if you know how an fb user can stop that from happening, let me know!

aimurchie, Sunday, 6 April 2008 23:52 (eighteen years ago)

maybe change your privacy settings? go in there and have a play around, set everything to max privacy level.

Rubyredd, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

and yeah, i'm pretty sure it was you, too :)

Rubyredd, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

Done. I had been wondering about the potential friending with ilxor's as well... Thanks for the heads up. I guess I thought I had set it to something more private way back when.
Seriously, I added my first friend Friday, and it's been madness ever since!

aimurchie, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:55 (eighteen years ago)

I'm getting this creepy thing too, although not for ilxors because I only have I think one in fb.

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 7 April 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

I think this is useful! I've found some folks I haven't otherwise been able to find via Facebook (alongside a bunch I have no desire to get in touch with), it's been A++ for me. They're like Amazon recommendations for friends.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 7 April 2008 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

They're like Amazon recommendations for friends.

ok when i put it that way i can see where people might find it creepy

Looks like I'm about due for a new round of "friend" culling.

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

I've culled a lot of ppl who I knew yearrrrs ago, maybe 8-10 years ago, who've requested to be my friend and then don't communicate with me.

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

I actually ran into a cullee the other day, was pretty awkward.

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

I don't even look at FB more than like once a week, I hope no one's been inviting me to parties on it or anything stupid.

Trayce, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

Good news! You can now instablock anyone who invites you to 2867347650784915467 applications every single fucking day.

Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 07:23 (eighteen years ago)

jabba hands, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 07:34 (eighteen years ago)
