some good stuff on ESPN2 last night but tonight's the geezers! Jones Jr. vs. the Executioner...anybody wanna argue for Jones? me neither
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Saturday, 3 April 2010 17:43 (sixteen years ago)
Not a boxing stan, but Brits should check out When Harry Met Ali:A Tribute to Harry Carpenter, some fantastic footage, not least this reaction to Ali winning his title back in the 'Rumble in the Jungle', spine tingling stuff.
― The Man With the Magic Eardrums (Billy Dods), Saturday, 3 April 2010 18:22 (sixteen years ago)
Explosive start from Haye - had Ruiz down twice in the first (the second with a cheap shot in the back of the head). Then he wasted the second round walking away. Strange fight.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:20 (sixteen years ago)
is the fight PPV?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:25 (sixteen years ago)
dunno I'm watching it on Veetle :)
I'd take either Klitschko to take Haye's head off on this evidence.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah. Also can't find a decent stream.
― he might have even have gone in. (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)
oooh link onimo?
http://www.veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4bb303d037109
not a great stream
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:30 (sixteen years ago)
and Ruiz is down again
another punch in the back of the neck tbh
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:31 (sixteen years ago)
like haye as a fighter but wdn't mind seeing a (highly unlikely) sonning from old man rr
― nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:32 (sixteen years ago)
jr lol
ruiz getting his bum bum kicked
― he might have even have gone in. (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:33 (sixteen years ago)
Ruiz is a fucking hard guy to keep down. He's walking straight forward and Haye's picking him off at will but you get the sense Haye gets worried when Ruiz gets close in the corner.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:36 (sixteen years ago)
Ruiz has been on his arse about six times yet it's still Haye boxing backwards looking to counter.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:37 (sixteen years ago)
yeah wtf haye be a man and just go on the offensive
offensive like his ugly arse shorts
― he might have even have gone in. (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:38 (sixteen years ago)
Ruiz looks pretty much done but you have to admire the guy for not taking a backward step.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:43 (sixteen years ago)
how did that hare/tortoise fable end
― nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:43 (sixteen years ago)
noodle vague image bombed it
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:44 (sixteen years ago)
hare: u got sonned blud looooltortoise: ;_;
― nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:46 (sixteen years ago)
not like Haye is the most exciting fighter in the world but thank God for a Ruiz L
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:46 (sixteen years ago)
Never in doubt tbh.
Dear David Haye,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_punch
Because this is a potentially fatal blow, the rabbit punch is illegal in boxing
Regards,onimo
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:47 (sixteen years ago)
haye seems an unlikely hweight champ, he seems more charmed trickster than dull psychopath, you feel that if he did ever get hurt he'd find it difficult to come back
i guess he upped his psycho credentials a little tonight though
― nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:50 (sixteen years ago)
anything that keep Ruiz from scaring potential fans away is a positive imo
Ruiz fights worse than watching paint dry x10000
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:52 (sixteen years ago)
Haye will never beat the Klitschkos fighting like this, which makes me think the plan is to never fight them.
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:57 (sixteen years ago)
Haye's quite late to the division and I think he's felt a few heavyweight punches and decided to be a bit more circumspect in attack. Anyone with a bit of talent and power will stop him.
― nasri like the wolf (onimo), Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:58 (sixteen years ago)
this hopkins/jones undercard has been pretty limp so far
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 01:50 (sixteen years ago)
hopefully mora brings something but I'm not holding my breath
whoa no sooner do I complain than green-mora round 2 completely slays! complaining on ilx works...who knew?
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 01:58 (sixteen years ago)
round 3 also great - this is a proper match
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:01 (sixteen years ago)
green extremely game in round 4 but mora like a fucking tidal wave - whole flurry of unanswered blows but green refused to clutch. green's punches are starting to lose steam tho
fucking GREAT fight
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:06 (sixteen years ago)
Mora relentless in round 5, buckled Green's knees at one point but Green is seriously on some I-will-not-fall stuff, like Frank Fletcher from way back - this is crazy but it can't last, he's gotta go in the next round or two
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:11 (sixteen years ago)
nothing on Green's punches in round 6. cornermen should think about calling it a night imo
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:14 (sixteen years ago)
stopped after too many unanswered punches in round 7. no knockdown. killer match
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:17 (sixteen years ago)
i enjoyed your live blogging , j0hn
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:19 (sixteen years ago)
thanks H! there's two more fights, I'll be here
post-fight mic-audible-in-the-house interview is a weird thing - makes the fights feel like reality TV, which no-one will be surprised to learn is not a direction I'm eager to see more of, even if the Contender is what gave us Mora
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:22 (sixteen years ago)
Angel Hernandez scarfing down punches all through round 1down twice & out in round two, Reynard W TKOdecent action but a mismatch
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:30 (sixteen years ago)
Ray Narh, I mean
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:31 (sixteen years ago)
Litzau v. Juarez coming up - I like Juarez but he's a full head shorter than Litzau
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:32 (sixteen years ago)
It's probably a bit late to stay up for. Wonder if ESPN or Sky have it on here
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:34 (sixteen years ago)
did you guys know Mandalay Bay is the casino that has an indoor beach, well it does
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:35 (sixteen years ago)
Nope not on here it seems
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:37 (sixteen years ago)
lol Litzau is from St. Paul & his nick is "the All American Boy"
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:38 (sixteen years ago)
holds the NABF title but then I'm pretty sure I have an NABF title in some class or other
'savage beatdown division'
― acoleuthic, Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:39 (sixteen years ago)
LJ's post there just reminds me of shit like cagefighting and how popular its getting and it just depresses me.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:41 (sixteen years ago)
can't let it bother you imo - people like what they like, as long as there's boxing I'm happy
juarez litzau round 1 was a snoozefest
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:42 (sixteen years ago)
what worries me is that the more popular it gets the more money the fighters make then kids will get into it to make more money and the whole thing snowballs and boxing goes into decline and it's not on TV anymore. UFC has already taken a LOT of boxing fans away.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:45 (sixteen years ago)
well boxing has barely been on tv at all over here for years, so the thinking goes if you can get people to watch dudes beating on each other, they might also be interested in boxing. and I agree with that. room at the table for multiple fighting sports imo
― Twink Will Ferrell (J0hn D.), Sunday, 4 April 2010 02:46 (sixteen years ago)
Boxing needs a couple of great exciting heavyweights to come along as that's been lacking for a good while now. Middleweights always been my fave division, any good up and coming middleweights around?
