It's a straight toss-up between Enrique and Richard Littlejohn as to who is most wound-up by the existence of Johann Hari.

Matt DC, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I smell sitcom

That mong guy that's shit, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:57 (sixteen years ago) link

banriquit, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Looking at Hari's groups he's hating back on Littlejohn, but tolerating our man at ILX pretty well ----->

Richard Littlejohn is a F*cking C*nt! ▪ Jon Gaunt and Richard Littlejohn, for people who don't like thinking. ▪ Richard Littlejohn is a moron and a twat ▪ I hate Jon Gaunt

We should have a public figures/celebrities who leave their Facebook pages accessible to all thread. I dunno if they do it out've vanity or ignorance of privacy options.

Raw Patrick, Thursday, 20 March 2008 10:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Patrick you forgot Johann's 'every time I see an Enrique post my penis shrivels a bit' group.

Matt DC, Thursday, 20 March 2008 10:28 (sixteen years ago) link

When I first saw Johann's column in the Guardian I spent the first month or so thinking he was a woman coz the byline pic was so lesbian-looking, so it wouldn't surprise me if his penis was v shrivelled.

DG, Thursday, 20 March 2008 11:04 (sixteen years ago) link

its the good parts about facebook (keeping up with the stuff people want to share w/you online) without the zombie bullshit, and it doesn't ask that you add a dozen apps to "your page" to keep track of it all. just add once and you're up.

Not that interesting a story to be fair but definitely enjoying the "thousands of pounds of taxpapyers' money" jab in there - it was only a sexual harrassment case for a convicted stalker after all. At least the Mail actually mentioned his previous conviction, unlike the Metro (where I just read about this before looking it up) which busted out "taxpapers' money" as well but without any other context to the case

also sent an Ian McEwan novel with a note saying "this is a beautiful book" to Miss Sl4dd3n at work in January this year, which she claimed made her feel "sick, frightened and very insecure".

Mr Hur5t said: "I sent her the book because it had certain relevances to the relationship we'd had, it gave me comfort and I'd hoped it would do the same for Sophie.

"I find it difficult to understand how a book can be distressing."

The book he sent her was "On Chesil Beach".
From wikipedia: During the course of an evening, both reflect upon their upbringing and their fears of the future. Edward is prone to fits of violence and Florence is terrified of sexual intimacy: eventually this leads to a confrontation that will change their relationship irrevocably.

The novel focuses upon the couple's woeful lack of sexual knowledge and experience. 1950'S Britain is evoked wonderfully, from the description of the couple's dinner at the hotel, to the girl's fears of the sex act itself.

I'm sure that gave her great comfort...

i don't know if this has already been mentioned, but fb is doing this creepy thing of suggesting who you should be friends with:

Axxxxx Mxxxxxx just joined Facebook.
Based on your information, it seems that you might know Axxxxx. If you know them, perhaps you should add them as a friend.

this person is obviously an ilxor, based on their friends, and i already figured out which one based on their real name.

still totally weird that facebook is telling me who i know that is signing up to facebook.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 5 April 2008 00:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Hah I got that one too.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 5 April 2008 00:54 (sixteen years ago) link

If that's me (seems pretty likely), it's also weird because I joined up for fb several months ago. I just started getting friended.
Don't know how to turn off that part - the random connection to anyone in the larger interconnected fb world, which is pretty vast.
Anyway - if you know how an fb user can stop that from happening, let me know!

aimurchie, Sunday, 6 April 2008 23:52 (sixteen years ago) link

maybe change your privacy settings? go in there and have a play around, set everything to max privacy level.

Rubyredd, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:35 (sixteen years ago) link

and yeah, i'm pretty sure it was you, too :)

Rubyredd, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Done. I had been wondering about the potential friending with ilxor's as well... Thanks for the heads up. I guess I thought I had set it to something more private way back when.
Seriously, I added my first friend Friday, and it's been madness ever since!

aimurchie, Monday, 7 April 2008 00:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm getting this creepy thing too, although not for ilxors because I only have I think one in fb.

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 7 April 2008 01:04 (sixteen years ago) link

I think this is useful! I've found some folks I haven't otherwise been able to find via Facebook (alongside a bunch I have no desire to get in touch with), it's been A++ for me. They're like Amazon recommendations for friends.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 7 April 2008 01:24 (sixteen years ago) link
