Good luck forks! Hope that in a week's time it'll be fine and you'll be up and at 'em again.

I wish I could do this, but I don't have a car to get way out there.

Jeff, Friday, 26 March 2010 17:34 (sixteen years ago)

I have extensor tendonitis. Getting my insoles serviced.

Jeff, Saturday, 27 March 2010 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

Resting today. 30k trail race tomorrow.

Good luck with that!

Jeff, what's the normal recovery time for e.t.? Can you do any running at the moment?

Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Farting in Space (NickB), Saturday, 27 March 2010 21:29 (sixteen years ago)

Oh yeah, I can run. The pain was the worst a week and a half ago, so I have cut back some, but I did 6 miles today and it's fine, just a little tender. I'm using Superfeet and a ankle sleeve while my insoles are getting fixed. She said as long as it doesn't get any worse, I should be good to go.

Jeff, Saturday, 27 March 2010 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

Just ordered my girlfriend her very first pair of trail shoes from ZombieRunner.com. Nice pair of Inov-8 shoes in her size, and on clearance ($90 down to $50). She doesn't know these are coming but I think she'll be excited.

ice cr?m, Saturday, 27 March 2010 22:31 (sixteen years ago)

5 miles in 58 mins, and i've learned that maybe a wedding the day before isn't the ideal preparation.

Jermaine Jenason (darraghmac), Sunday, 28 March 2010 17:33 (sixteen years ago)

Finished my 30k (18.6 miles) this morning in 3:40 and change. First 10k was about 1:06, next two slower. Been under the weather all week (common cold) and allergies on top of that, so had trouble breathing well -- stuffy nose/throat. Dry heaved and then uked at mile 3 so that kinda set the tone for the remainder of the race. But, I finished. And sometimes that's what matters on an off day. I'm doing a 25k next Saturday so am going to rest up, hopefully I'll do better then.

doing an 8k on the 2nd havent run v much in twenty ten & like three times this month but fuk it raise sum $

alt-3, gold & silver (Lamp), Sunday, 28 March 2010 17:54 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i tihnk we'd a guessed what 'uked' signified tbf!

obviously that 3:40 looks pretty great to me, but what would you have been hoping for?

Jermaine Jenason (darraghmac), Sunday, 28 March 2010 17:55 (sixteen years ago)

Well, I ran the first 10k in 1:06 before I decided to cut my losses and take it easier. Probably could have done a couple more 1:06-1:10 loops and finished between 3:18 and 3:26, on a really good day. My goal going in was about 3:30, given that I'd been feeling bad all week... so wasn't far off the mark, actually.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Sunday, 28 March 2010 17:57 (sixteen years ago)

considering all the uking i'd say that's pretty good so

Good run, sorry about your chundersome guts.

Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Farting in Space (NickB), Sunday, 28 March 2010 18:33 (sixteen years ago)

Ran in rural Iowa this morning. It was nice but I like the way distance passes in the city better.

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Sunday, 28 March 2010 18:44 (sixteen years ago)

half marathon today, did it in 2:04 which I would have taken beforehand but I was pacing myself alright, feeling good, did 10 miles in 1:29 and my legs fell apart just after 11 and I walked, limped&shuffled to the end, so eh, aching more than pleased but feel satisfied

ogmor, Sunday, 28 March 2010 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

Good job! Get some ibuprofen down you tonight I reckon.

Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Farting in Space (NickB), Sunday, 28 March 2010 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

Jermaine Jenason (darraghmac), Sunday, 28 March 2010 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

99 miles on the month, should hit close to 110 by the time the 31st comes around.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 29 March 2010 01:14 (sixteen years ago)

Nice month and good on the half Mary ogmor.

I'll hit 50, maybe 60. I hope April will be my month where I return to triple digit totals.

6. JB just came in to finish loop 4. He has just over an hour to get out on loop 5. The rain has just picked up again.

who's that then?

has psyched myself up for a 10k trial run this evening but flood, sleet and storm conditions meant i settled for a quicker 2 miles than i've managed yet. glad to be in out of it tbh.

Wrapped up a 25k over the weekend, called Hells Hills. Ran it in about 2:51, though still waiting on the official results. Lots of rolling hills, single track woodsy trail, really fun course!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 5 April 2010 13:56 (sixteen years ago)

i didn't do anything like that, but i ran in rural iowa, chicago, and prospect park (in brooklyn) in one seven day span!

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Monday, 5 April 2010 13:57 (sixteen years ago)

So I went for my first ever run on Saturday. I was out for about 35 minutes, ran for just over 20 of that and walked for just under 15, and covered about 2.3 miles, according to www.mapmyrun.com.

I did a little less on Sunday morning, with Em; about 1.5 miles in about 30 minutes, walking about 2/5s of that.

I am sore now. But I have good running shoes! And now I have running socks and running pants, too. I feel this is important.

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 5 April 2010 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

have a bad case of the non-runner's remorse atm, haven't been out since tuesday and even that was just 2 miles. weather is awful here this week so it's tough to get out.

xp i cannot bring myself to don running pants, but hurrah 4u anyway

Jesse James Woods (darraghmac), Monday, 5 April 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

But I have good running shoes!

Curious; which?

still not at jogging point. trying to indoor bike and do ankle strengthening exercises. maybe by midweek?

forksclovetofu, Monday, 5 April 2010 14:15 (sixteen years ago)

If one is a casual, beginner runner, and just running to keep fit, how often should one run and for how long? Is 30-45 minutes a go, every other day or so, about right?

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 5 April 2010 14:18 (sixteen years ago)

Shoot for 3x a week, 30-45 minutes, for starters. Don't overdo it these first few weeks, you'll want to listen to your legs and make sure you don't push into a place where you are overtraining and risking injury as your legs get used to running. If you doubt whether you are well recovered for a run, I'd say play it safe.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 5 April 2010 14:20 (sixteen years ago)

that's what i do and i'm a casual running noob
don't push too hard, aim to make a habit instead of win a race

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Monday, 5 April 2010 14:21 (sixteen years ago)

ilxor OTM

seandalai, Monday, 5 April 2010 14:41 (sixteen years ago)

gearing up for a 4 mile in Central Park this coming Sunday. I ran 3 miles on Saturday so i'm thinking i should be okay for the full 4 in a week.

Aerosol, Monday, 5 April 2010 14:56 (sixteen years ago)

this will be the first time I run an official race. is there really something to be said for the extra race day adrenalin push?

Aerosol, Monday, 5 April 2010 15:03 (sixteen years ago)

Should I bring my runners on honeymoon to NYC at the end of the month so I can jog round Central Park?

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 5 April 2010 15:11 (sixteen years ago)

ok feck ye i'll go out. if i get a cold i'm blaming you all.

SM- without doubt

Jesse James Woods (darraghmac), Monday, 5 April 2010 15:28 (sixteen years ago)

YES.

I did that on my NYC trip last fall, it's a great place to run. There is a generally excellent, easy 6 mile "main loop" in Central Park that I would highly recommend, having run it as a tourist myself.

Yes, you'll be entirely fine. The same principle applies as you go further up in distance -- that's why most people train with 20 mile long runs for 26.2 mile marathons, and are able to complete them.

is there really something to be said for the extra race day adrenalin push?

Again, yes. You'll understand once you try it. ;-)

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 5 April 2010 15:33 (sixteen years ago)

Dope! I’m super excited about it. hopefully it goes well and I’ll do a few more this summer.

Aerosol, Monday, 5 April 2010 15:39 (sixteen years ago)

the nyc reservoir run is a beautiful time

forksclovetofu, Monday, 5 April 2010 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

guys, intervals are HARD

plax (ico), Tuesday, 6 April 2010 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

yeah? i could imagine. i don't even want to try messing with that yet. just reading about the benefits has me curious to give it a go some point though.
