there's something so exceedingly joyless about the eco claus cartoon above, like the cartoonist themselves can't quite commit to the premise, and knows they are just swinging at a strawman out of habit of muscle memory...

The beauty of Mallard Fillmore is that it's even weirder than it sounds. If you tried to describe it to someone and said, "Oh, it's a comic where a talking duck spews far-right talking points," you still wouldn't quite capture the bizarre universe of the strip.

funny thing about that first Mallard strip is that I distinctly remember Charlton Heston using 'marched with King' as an excuse when he was accused of racism/not giving a damn about guns killing young black men.
