Taking a brief stroll thru the TownHall toons is a different experience than a year ago, as many of the strips are actually firing on each other's favored GOP candidate, with a few of your standard anti-Hillary and/or hilarious projecting bits that we've seen for years.

In other words, wow, these assholes REALLY don't like John McCain.

kingfish, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 07:23 (eighteen years ago)

there's something so exceedingly joyless about the eco claus cartoon above, like the cartoonist themselves can't quite commit to the premise, and knows they are just swinging at a strawman out of habit of muscle memory...

Meanwhile, Pat Oliphant's latest contribution to the WaPo of all places:

Check here if that doesn't load.

if chris muir weren't nearly 50, I'd swear that his problem is that he got his view of republicanism from seeing Kennedy on MTV.

ick, even in the early 90s, when will people learn that visible ribcages are not attractive?

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:35 (eighteen years ago)

Somebody take over this thread for me, willya, like Daniel or whomever. I'm no longer at a desk job, so someone should take up the standard of mocking the continuing implosion of rightwing fuckheads as exhibited thru b&w toons.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:37 (eighteen years ago)

ick, even in the early 90s, when will people learn that visible ribcages are not attractive?

oh come on, it's not like her ribcage is visible and she's just standing in a normal posture and waiting for sally struthers to please help feed her. She has visible triceps and a vastus lateralis to die for.

what a socialist, attacking the free market like that. Doesn't he know that thru a lack of all regulations is the only true way for the Almighty to bless the Prosperous and the Righteous?

18 months later, might as well use the same "joek"

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:46 (eighteen years ago)

The beauty of Mallard Fillmore is that it's even weirder than it sounds. If you tried to describe it to someone and said, "Oh, it's a comic where a talking duck spews far-right talking points," you still wouldn't quite capture the bizarre universe of the strip.

Nathan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:48 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i don't even understand his point in that first one... white politicians go out of their way to point out they're not racist to court black votes, which means... racism must not be that bad? Um, no, little duck. Let me tell you a story...

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:53 (eighteen years ago)

funny thing about that first Mallard strip is that I distinctly remember Charlton Heston using 'marched with King' as an excuse when he was accused of racism/not giving a damn about guns killing young black men.

milo z, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:53 (eighteen years ago)

"Oops! I forgot to make any damn sense!"

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 08:02 (eighteen years ago)

That was mallard talking there. But it maybe goes double for heston.

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 08:02 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't been tracking these guys, so i don't know how tortured their caricatures of Obama have gotten...

I just now got the LBJ/holding 'em up by the ears cartoon. Took me a second.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

I wonder how much irony was intended with the penultimate Patriotart toon.

libcrypt, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

I think what was intended is that Hillary is even more of a bitch than Coulter. Which, while less ironical, is still o_O.

I should've known Dan would be a Huckafan.

Impressed that you can go "realistic" when your crazy brain calls for it.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

You know, I meant to say 'haven't' been feeling very batshit lately. I had to go through two and a half months worth of toons just to find those three.

I was actually pretty critical of Huck before that cartoon, but the Thompsonites were so condescendingly set against the Huckmeister they caused me to change my mind.

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

i am at a loss for words. i don't want to be a prick or anything but if that's not guano loco I don't want to know what is!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, it's guano loco all right.

I want to see some Rudy cartoons, Dan.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

ya - do some Family Circus adaptations for us while you're at it! while my mind is still broken from the other thing.
