The legend of Purple Aki
Stories about a man named 'Purple Aki', partially based upon Arobieke[4][5] (though wildly exaggerated), were common amongst children in Merseyside and the surrounding areas throughout the 1980s and 1990s.[11][12] 'Purple Aki' was said to have earned his name because he was "so black he was purple"[13], or more fancifully because he had purple hair[14]. As with most urban legends the details varied considerably, but stories usually involved 'Purple Aki' pursuing or capturing school children and then mutilating, raping or murdering them. He was also said to carve the initials 'P.A.' into the buttocks of his victims.

I am so sick of hearing racism whenever anyone argues an issue with the Obama crowd. I’m from TN and have seen racism all my life and it has hurt me. Don’t call me a racist just because I’m from the south; I recently voted for Ford, Jr. in his bid for the governorship so I have no problem supporting a black.
Prejudices are a part of our American life. Just look at the Oscars. We have had a lot of stunning performances by black men and women in films thru the years yet only recently have Halley and Denzel been awarded Oscars. It was always going to be hard for a black to get the nomination. Many are not ready for that.
My problem is that the MSM, progressive bloggers and others have been so unfair and biased with their ridicule and insults towards Hillary, her husband and even poor Chelsea while Obama remains totally unvetted. Many Americans will not stand for these groups trying to cram someone down our throats. The close election reflects this. Obama will not be elected. I will never support him and am one of those Hillary girls who will go to McCain rather that allow groups to manipulate my views and this election.
The GOP has been studying how Obama’s group has repelled negative issues by raising the racism claim and they are getting prepared for this in the fall. Additionally, I don’t think they really care about being called “racist”.
Just a thought: Obama must be trying to buffer against this latest negative Michelle tape that the GOP have where she rails against “whitey”. Now Obama wants spouses “off limits” but they didn’t have a hands off policy with Bill during the primary!
I’m convinced that Obama is unelectable! I’ll never vote for him and many like me will not either. Funny thing; we don’t care if you call us a racist or not. We know that’s just an excuse for Obama whenever he doesn’t have an answer.

A.) My racist grandfather voted for Ford (as I mentioned on a previous thread.) B.) Ford ran for the Senate.

"I am not racist, I don't associate myself with racists. In fact their are some African American's, who if they ran I would be more than happy to vote for. Victor David Hanson, Thomas Sowell, and even Condi Rice and shes a woman to boot! In hindsight, I can see your point on the racist thing, their is that little part about his church which preaches black advancement... blah blah blah, their is some truth to that part, but that wasn't what I was trying to shed light on.
the main points I was trying to point out are his refusal to say the pledge of elegance. I, not being a religious person can understand not wanting to say the "one nation under god" part, how ever I understand what that actually means: "we are one unified nation under a banner of common beliefs and principals". In my opinion if the president of the united states is not willing to "pledge" his "allegiance" to all of our common principals and beliefs, then he has absolutely no right to lead us.
He flies the America flag equal to the flag of Che Guevara. First off you show respect for your country by flying your flag the highest, above, greater then, etc, to all other flags. But thats not even the worst part. He flies it equal to a flag of Che. That red star on his bouree that most of the time looks like an x, is the Red Communist Star. He was a socialist gurella who deprived countless people of their freedom by forcing them into the bondage of communism. Communism is actually the exact opposite of Freedom. There, government is your god. You are nothing but a small, insignificant robot, you are told where and when to work, at your job that is assigned by your government. Tell me if these ideals should be close to the ours? I don't understand how Che, with all he stands for, can be idolized by todays young and left. The whole mantra of the young hippie movement who put him atop this pedestal was in stark opposition to the real man. Che to them was a rebel, who fought against the the social norm that our last few generations have taken all too for granted. But at the end of the day weren't the hippies all about peace and love an d freedom? I would love to see a bunch of Hippies be confronted by their masonic leader Che, he would probably have killed them just the same."

“White people are weary of the kinds of black people who are dedicated to indicting whites as racists. So, to be ‘too black’ is to carry an air about you that whites have something to answer for.”
"Our data suggest that such resistance is not because white Americans are mean and uncaring, morally bankrupt or ethically flawed," adds Dr. Mahzarin R. Banaji, a professor of social ethics at Harvard University. "White Americans suffer from a glaring ignorance about what it means to live as a black American."

That experiment -- in which whites had to say how much money they'd want in exchange for being black for the rest of their lives -- strikes me as totally bonkers. The subjects gave low numbers, so the experimenters say they're underestimating black hardship. But I'd think there'd be a strong bias against giving a high number since that so easily sounds racist, i.e. "You'd have to give me a million dollars, buddy!"

To whom it may concern, There has been alot of canceling god going around lately. Why? Because some people are offened or get offened when the name of god is spoken. Well I have to say that I get offended when, after all of my life, of praying and talking to my god , who I might add has answered alot of prayer's for me, that someone can all of a sudden think that it's o.k. for them to, just because they don't have the same beleif's as I do
that my children can't say the pledge of elegance in class ,the way I did and many of generations
before us did. And I should'nt say merry christmas any more because it's not exceptible any more,
now I hear that they want to take televised church off of television, along with all christmas programs . Well I'd like to know how long it's going to be before we are told we have to close our churches or our
children are not aloud to attend sunday school.

Isn't that kind of the point though, Charlie? As part of the study white participants were asked to put a dollar value on living as a minority member of a fictional society and the necessary pay-off was much higher than what was deemed the trade-off to live as a black American. Whether or not people underestimated the cost of living as black person due to social pressure or because they legitimately felt that the cost of doing so was trivial it's still fucked up, no?
Sorry, seriously, I'm posting through a haze of alcohol and jet lag but the last paragraph I posted seemed to me be pretty apt.
― Lamp, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 03:24 (fifteen years ago) link
Right, but I'm saying my intuition is that many (most?) study participants would feel as much pressure to give a low number as a high one, because of the way the question was put to them. People tend to try to give the "right" answer, à la the Bradley/Wilder effect, and enough people are going to be motivated by that to render the results moot: a high number feels like a racist answer, so they give a low one. If you ask someone a question with a potential "gotcha" waiting in the wings, they're likely to triangulate based on what they think they're supposed to say -- and questions about race are the ultimate "gotcha", at least in the present era. So comparisons to a hypothetical become kind of bogus, because people aren't really giving authentic answers in the first place -- whereas of course the numbers go up when they give them a list of costs associated with being black, because then the prompt is clearly towards a high number.
Basically, I just think it's a poorly-conceived study, though its heart is in the right place.
