Knowing this show, Richard's story will be presented like this:

Richard: I've seen things you wouldn't believe.

Jack: You wouldn't believe what I'm willing to believe.

Richard: Whatever. It's not important right now. We have to walk somewhere.

I will say though that in rating polls of people who have read scripts/seen footage tonight's ep is the highest rated of the season

abanana, Tuesday, 23 March 2010 23:53 (sixteen years ago)

Someone was about to reveal where that thread was, but then we all had to go back to the beach for some reason.

SPOILER ALERT--episode of Lost does not reveal enough!

It's not a big deal. I'm part of the reason, this new spoiler free thread was needed over that old one, so unable to point fingers on that score.

Mister Jim, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 00:08 (sixteen years ago)

Like basically I kinda spoiled the whole existence of the alt before LAX. You didn't really spoil anything at all in comparison. Lol.

guess that wasn't the Black Rock we saw approaching the Island in the ssn 5 finale then

President Keyes, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 01:42 (sixteen years ago)

the island all along may have been a prison colony for an evil spirit, with Jacob as jailer.

Looks like this is the case. And in the alt-timeline will we soon see evil rampant in the world?

President Keyes, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:08 (sixteen years ago)

pretty great tv right there! thanks lost

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:10 (sixteen years ago)

Jacob kicking Richard's ass was pretty unexpected.

Religious Embolism (WmC), Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:12 (sixteen years ago)

I'm not feeling positive about that ep.

Mister Jim, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:12 (sixteen years ago)

You should consult your Lost analyst.

President Keyes, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:15 (sixteen years ago)

Re: Jacob's fighting Richard - I really liked that 150 years ago he actually wasn't quite as mellow as he is now (or as implied in the S5 finale flashback). If anything, he seemed very angry and Shepard-like. But it also very much is in line with his "What about you?" response to Ben's demands for answers in last year's finale.

Nhex, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:16 (sixteen years ago)

loved the scene where richard was riding sawyer thru the jungle

max, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:18 (sixteen years ago)

Now that we know it was Richard's job to intervene on Jacob's behalf with the people he brought to the island, the last 5 seasons sure do make a lot of sense. lol.

Mister Jim, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:44 (sixteen years ago)

If Jacob's goal is to keep MIB on the island. And MIB can't leave the island as long as Jacob is alive. And MIB can't kill Jacob himself. Then why is Jacob so eager to bring people to the island and MIB so opposed to it? Because those people Jacob brings are just opportunities for MIB to find his loophole. What's more important to MIB: getting off the island or being right about human nature? And the same question goes to Jacob: Is it more important to keep MIB on island or be right about human nature?

Mister Jim, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:09 (sixteen years ago)

That's a solid point right there

Brakhage, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:18 (sixteen years ago)

Loved all the callbacks to Ben's being recruited as the loophole - Isabella/Alex, 'you'll do whatever I ask', etc

Brakhage, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:20 (sixteen years ago)

Favorite episode of the season by far.

Also love the way MIB has adopted the use of self-help pop psychoanalysis for manipulating people in the modern age, whereas in olden times it was religion

Brakhage, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:22 (sixteen years ago)

All the actors were top-notch as well, Carbonell and Welliver especially

Brakhage, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

Fundamentally are people happy that the island is a cork keeping evil trapped? Are people happy with this turn of events?

I'm not. I think it's dumb. I don't think I could ever rewatch seasons 1-4 with that notion in my head.

Hopefully it's a lie.

I really hate being a downer. But I just don't think I like the direction this show is going in.

Mister Jim, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:26 (sixteen years ago)

Agree on the acting x-post.

for me to chilt on (bnw), Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:31 (sixteen years ago)

I'll take good vs evil over an endlessly convoluted explanation. obviously you need some tolerance for that to be a fan of this show but I like when its tethered to something simple and clear.

for me to chilt on (bnw), Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't think I would be down with the show ending up as some big quasi-religion good vs evil thing but the way they presented it is halfway interesting imo

dmr, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:37 (sixteen years ago)

I'm going to love finding out exactly why MIB is evil incarnate for Jacob, a lot of what MIB has perpetrated onscreen could be put down to his just trying to escape

Brakhage, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 03:39 (sixteen years ago)

i did like Action Jacob. so much better than Probst Jacob.
