Does Cheryl, um, do anything? Like work? Or does she just read and hang out keep Larry in line?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a full-time job.

i seem to remember that she is some sort of environmental activist. in several episodes she is organizing events, asking for donations, etc.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Real answer to the question: she's the wife of the creator of Seinfeld. You wouldn't have a real job, either.

well, actually she is an actress. she is not really larry's wife.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i know. still.

I believe her character is an actress (see the episode where she was offered a role in the Vagina Monologues) but, perhaps after marrying Larry, has decided to focus on charity work.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I still submit that the show is at its worst when it involves Larry managing to offend someone in a completely implausible way, especially if it involves a group of people standing around and glaring at him, with absolutely nobody willing to accept Larry's explanation or give him the benefit of the doubt.

One of my favorite episodes of Season 2 is where Larry becomes a car salesman for a day, because of the absurdity of the situation and the relish he brings to the role. I love Cheryl's and Richard's reactions. And it really has nothing to do with Larry alienating anyone at all.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree. Why, for instance, did Larry launch into that dirty speech about Mary in the nativity scene? Maybe if he'd been drinking heavily, that would explain it. As it was, it seemed that the script just called for him to do something outrageous.

Trick or Treat

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 January 2005 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks!

jed_ (jed), Monday, 17 January 2005 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

He's just saying all the kinds of things comedians say in their standup acts, all the annoyances and put-downs and stuff but in this show it's like he's actually saying them in the real world, in the situations as they come up.. and it's funny but it's also like some horrible nightmare!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 17 January 2005 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a good way to look at it.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 January 2005 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It makes you realize just how nasty and twisted the "standup comedian" mindset is.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 February 2005 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I just finished the first season and it really grew on me. I will have to start on the second season soon! I guess getting into trouble is FUNNY.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I just bought season 3, haven't watched any of it yet (I've seen 2, not 1 though).

I hate how the episode summaries on the box take great pains to mention everything that happens in each one, including the endings. It's as if they want to intentionally spoil the "plot" because it's beside the point.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

hilarious moments:

1. krazee-eyez killa: "mothafucka-whatthefuck?? mothafucka-whatthefuck??"

2. larry, imitating maury povich girl: "you dont know me! you dont know me! fuck you! you can all go fuck yourselves!"

"The prostitutes don't seem to mind it"

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Still looking for a good quality ringtone of the theme.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 February 2005 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

season 1 + 2 were very good. the episodes of season 3 + 4 were disappointingly stupid and unfunny though wtf

eman (eman), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

that should read "the episodes i've seen so far from season 3 + 4..."

eman (eman), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I was laughing out loud just last night to my Season 3 DVD.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Bert Bondy!

jimmy crackhorn (don maynard), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i think he's running out of ideas. the first two seasons had premises that were plausibly realistic enough, but now the plots are getting progressively more "wacky." soon it'll just be a typical sitcom with foul language added for edginess (see episode where the hired chef has Tourettes for example)

eman (eman), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

season 3 and 4 are the best! so are 1 and 2!

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

foul language added for edginess

I don't think it has ever been used/screamed so sublimely. I mean, when Julia Louis-Dreyfus says "I have no f*ckin' idea" is one of my favorite moments from the entire show.

"LARRY YOU FOUR-EYED F*CK!"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

also: FUCK YOU, YOU CARWASH CUNT

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 February 2005 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Definitely want to get these DVDs at some point here.

Just picked up season 2 DVD last week. Have not yet commenced watching.

-- Tracer Hand (tracerhan...), January 17th, 2005.

i just watched a French and Saunders Dvd and I thought the funniest thing on it was their imitation of a female American stand-up comedian. Just boring insults and the 'catchphrase' was doing the fingers. That sounds kind of prudish, it's not meant to though.

i love his "what?!" look

charleston charge (chaki), Friday, 18 February 2005 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

"GET ME THE HEAD!!!!!!!!"

"I'd fuck her with a Bush mask on!" (already mentioned earlier) is an all-time TV highlight. Jeff Garlin's timing and delivery is consistently outstanding.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

and his stoned look in his eye and his "i dont give a fuck" smile

charleston charge (chaki), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

what episode is "i'd fuck her with a bush mask on" from?

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i have NEVER seen this. If I hated Seinfeld, what odds does this have, out of curiosity?

Deerninja B4rim4, Plus-Tech Whizz Kid (Barima), Saturday, 19 February 2005 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

jed: the last in series 4. SPOILER larry is about to have sex with his co-star when he sees she has a bush photo on her dresser, he relays this to geoff later. he reacts with that indignation.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 19 February 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I always enjoyed Seinfeld but I never actually tuned it in. I can't even remember what day of the week it was on vs. I buy Curb DVDs...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 19 February 2005 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
Just watched the Shaq episode (thank you, HBO On Demand!).

I'll have a vanilla... one of those vanilla bullshit things. You know, whatever you want, some vanilla bullshit latte cappa thing. Whatever you got.

sunburned and snowblind (kenan), Monday, 7 March 2005 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

charleston charge (chaki), Monday, 7 March 2005 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd recognize that tush anywhere!
