his 'crazy mom' thing was kinda 'ugh parental issues AGAIN?' but also irresistably intriguing. imagining a bigger cloud of black smoke with dame edna glasses berating a smaller cloud for not doing its homework.

again the reveals were pretty lame. so obvious it was Charlotte, so obvious it was Kate - the obviousness is quite funny now tho.
Can't wait until they do a Hurley back-reveal.

I was watching Miami Vice after watching Lost last night and realized that Sawyer is very Don Johnson-y ... same stubble, same stringy hair, same voice, same attitude.

This ep proved that Flocke is the bad guy in all of this, because I think we all know that Jacob would've let Claire kill Kate, what with that free will obsession and all.
This season has been well-conceived but kind of poorly-executed.
My opinion is the exact opposite.
Enjoyed this ep.

I couldn't hear Claire's reply when Kate was like "wtf is your dead dog baby thing?".

* Had we seen Widmore Tina Fey before this episode?
I don't think so
so who were all the dead bodies in the jungle? extras who came over on the Ajira flight who weren't part of Lost crew or Shadow of the Statue crew? just got caught in the crossfire?

i was/am kind of hoping Kate will do something regrettable and Flocke will reveal by 'erin has a crazy mother now' he meant Kate.
― bnw, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 14:52 (sixteen years ago)
So when Jacob said that someone was coming to the island (supposed reason for the lighthouse quest) did he he mean Widmore? I'm wondering if one reveal will be that Widmore is an asshole but is actually trying to work for Jacob in his own way. He obviously is no fan of smokey, to the point where he's lugging sonic fence equipment around.
It keeps being implied that Smoke/Locke is going to go over to the other island by boat, in that he said so and Widmore seems to think they need the fence. Did we ever see smokey over there? I'm still skeptical that he can cross water.
― mh, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:00 (sixteen years ago)
Oh, I meant to say above that I also think Claire is way more believable as an "emotional wreck crazy person" than an "evil, murderous crazy person."

"tbh i felt for smokey this episode, imagining being a thousand-year-old creature of mysticism and power but still having to go around placating kate over claire's soap opera bullshit."
this got me thinking too. why would he spend that much time calming kate down? doesn't he have bigger fish to fry? isn't he just gonna kill everyone anyway?
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:09 (sixteen years ago)
i dunno but they are doing a really great job at making me trust the smoke "thing"
― shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:10 (sixteen years ago)
i'm guessing he needs a "candidate" to get off the island and he doesn't know who it is yet? or am i really wrong?
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)
cuz he could just smack everyone upside the head with some smoke and not bother being nice. is my point, i guess.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:14 (sixteen years ago)
HOWEVER
i was under the impression smokey was like--"i can get you off this island." not, "i need you to help me try and fly a crashed plane off this island."
― shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:14 (sixteen years ago)
I assume Widmore is still on the sub b/c he is not allowed/able to go back on the island.

my favorite typical lost "what is wrong with these people" moment was how after kate nearly gets her throat slit her next reaction isn't to turn to her old buddy Sayid who just hung back and popped some popcorn and go "thanks for nothing WHAT THE FUCK DUDE!"
― First and Last and Safeways (jjjusten), Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:25 (sixteen years ago)

So in the sideways timeline Miles's dad is alive and in LA, but he was at the construction site during The Incident, so I think that pretty much conclusively states that the bomb didn't sink the island immediately or kill many people in its immediate vicinity. Also, it suggests to me that Miles and his mom didn't leave the island immediately, and nor did Charlotte, or else how would they know each other? They met on the freighter as far as I know. I guess the alternative is just that the timeline is wacky and coincidental, but that sure would be unsatisfying.

Also, do Dr. Ben Linus, Nice Ethan, and Sexy Charlotte know each other in LA? They were all children on the island at the same time, though not exactly peers. There couldn't have been so many children on the island that they wouldn't know each other.
