I can't imagine many people have seen Vicky Christina Barcelona to get the joke. But I was lol'ing.

I think it works even if you've not seen VCB: the joke is that suave European men are impossible for American women to resist. But still I was astounded they were doing a VCB parody.

even if you dont get the VCB reference, there is still a typically boring SNL sketch for you to enjoy

seen that stupid commercial too many times but... "mark fuhrman from the o.j. trial!" still cracks me up

Tina Fey and... Justin Bieber on tonight. There's some synergy for you! I guess I'm enough of a Fey mark to actually watch.

I was a bit slow to warm to Nasim, but I think she's been killing it lately. Really enjoyed her in the high school sketch.

Not mentioned at the time, but Jason Sudekis as "The Devil" should totally become a recurring character on Weekend Update, or maybe in sketches of his own.

Something about the hooker sketch reminded me of 70's SNL.

this was OK. the only sketches that really worked for me was the 9-inch hooker one (which really DID feel like SNL of the late 80s/early 90s, a complete idea that was the right length and not obsessed with one-liners) and her Update monologue

pedo teacher sketch was really creepy, actually

still, the cheesecake bump photos = delicious, and her best look is STILL the Weekend Update desk outfit after all this time

I know I've complained about the cold opens a lot but one thing specifically pissed me off about this one: I hate when the punchline to a joke is displayed as text on the screen (i.e. the census questions in this one) and a character reads it aloud, usually really slowly. I've usually read the punchline and then have to listen to the exact same thing being read out, it's totally clunky and kills the momentum and panders to people who don't read or something?

yeah, and to make matters worse, armisen-as-obama insists on saying no more than 4 words without pausing, it's just rly stilted that way (and some of that material had laff potential imo).
