I can't imagine many people have seen Vicky Christina Barcelona to get the joke. But I was lol'ing.
I think it works even if you've not seen VCB: the joke is that suave European men are impossible for American women to resist. But still I was astounded they were doing a VCB parody.
― jam master (jaymc), Sunday, 14 March 2010 15:52 (sixteen years ago)
even if you dont get the VCB reference, there is still a typically boring SNL sketch for you to enjoy
― fuckin' (jeff), Sunday, 14 March 2010 18:19 (sixteen years ago)
seen that stupid commercial too many times but... "mark fuhrman from the o.j. trial!" still cracks me up
― dylannn, Sunday, 14 March 2010 18:29 (sixteen years ago)
Tina Fey and... Justin Bieber on tonight. There's some synergy for you! I guess I'm enough of a Fey mark to actually watch.
― Nhex, Saturday, 10 April 2010 23:22 (sixteen years ago)
Are You Smarter Than a Half-Term Governor?
That whole sketch was full of lolz.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:04 (sixteen years ago)
Justin Bieber is the worst line reader ever.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:04 (sixteen years ago)
this was the first time I actually heard him sing and I don't understand how he has a career of any sort
― iatee, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:06 (sixteen years ago)
no trolling, this is a good performance
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:08 (sixteen years ago)
he can't really sing at all but it's kind of a great song & that's a good arrangement
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:09 (sixteen years ago)
I'll forgive Canada for Celine Dion if they agree to take back Justin Bieber.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:10 (sixteen years ago)
I don't hate the song but what a weak lil voice
― iatee, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)
he's such a ham, good lord
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)
not watching this, but Luda's verse is the only redeemable part of "Baby" iirc
― ksh, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)
i was surprised that he wasn't there tbh
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:12 (sixteen years ago)
i find it easy to like bieber
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:15 (sixteen years ago)
You are a crackhead
― congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:16 (sixteen years ago)
why?
― ksh, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:16 (sixteen years ago)
I had never heard bieber before but that song was godawful
― congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:17 (sixteen years ago)
the music is p good & he's a good performer for a 14 year old -- i like that he's an overeager & un-self aware ham
also i think it's fun to have a teen idol again
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:19 (sixteen years ago)
fair enough
― ksh, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:22 (sixteen years ago)

kristen wiig doing FACES and VOICES is one of my least fav crutches of current snl but i dig aunt linda
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:23 (sixteen years ago)
pretty much her old target woman with actual jokes
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:24 (sixteen years ago)
maybe i should turn on the TV instead of watching "Miracles" on YouTube again
― ksh, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:25 (sixteen years ago)
fuckin sketch comedy/ how does it work?
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:26 (sixteen years ago)

I'm loving Al Roker as a party dude.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:35 (sixteen years ago)
this ballad is horrible
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:51 (sixteen years ago)
not bad, but suggest ban the choreographer
― ksh, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:52 (sixteen years ago)
was wondering if the balding dancer was the choreographer
― bnw, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:53 (sixteen years ago)
lol at the greenscreen showing through the nine-inch hooker's shotglass and making it look like a martini
― iiiijjjj, Sunday, 11 April 2010 04:59 (sixteen years ago)
Looooool at Hader giving Bieber the gas face at the show close
― Wood shavings! Laughing out loud! (HI DERE), Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:01 (sixteen years ago)
I was a bit slow to warm to Nasim, but I think she's been killing it lately. Really enjoyed her in the high school sketch.
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:07 (sixteen years ago)
Not mentioned at the time, but Jason Sudekis as "The Devil" should totally become a recurring character on Weekend Update, or maybe in sketches of his own.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:10 (sixteen years ago)
Something about the hooker sketch reminded me of 70's SNL.
― Jack Human (kenan), Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:13 (sixteen years ago)
this wd be like Phyllis Diller and Leif Garrett on '70s SNL
― kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:15 (sixteen years ago)
(except Tina Fey isnt as funny as Phyll, obv)
― kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:16 (sixteen years ago)
Only similarity between Phyllis Diller and Tina Fey is ovaries. They're both funny.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:21 (sixteen years ago)
that made no sense unless you are calling their ovaries funny
― bnw, Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:38 (sixteen years ago)
Are you stoned or something? I'll clarify: Phyllis Diller and Tina Fey, both funny. They're not the same type of comedian, though, so the only categorical link between them is their sex.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 April 2010 05:54 (sixteen years ago)
i love reading jezebel snl posts
― A B C, Sunday, 11 April 2010 06:47 (sixteen years ago)
why did she have to slut-shame that white supremacist professional tabloid figure?
that was great. fey almost made justin bieber seem cool, which is a huge accomplishment.

The Jez comments section is turning me into a misogynist.
― รด_o (Nicole), Sunday, 11 April 2010 15:23 (sixteen years ago)
this was OK. the only sketches that really worked for me was the 9-inch hooker one (which really DID feel like SNL of the late 80s/early 90s, a complete idea that was the right length and not obsessed with one-liners) and her Update monologue
pedo teacher sketch was really creepy, actually
still, the cheesecake bump photos = delicious, and her best look is STILL the Weekend Update desk outfit after all this time
― Nhex, Sunday, 11 April 2010 22:10 (sixteen years ago)
I know I've complained about the cold opens a lot but one thing specifically pissed me off about this one: I hate when the punchline to a joke is displayed as text on the screen (i.e. the census questions in this one) and a character reads it aloud, usually really slowly. I've usually read the punchline and then have to listen to the exact same thing being read out, it's totally clunky and kills the momentum and panders to people who don't read or something?
― congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 11 April 2010 22:13 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, and to make matters worse, armisen-as-obama insists on saying no more than 4 words without pausing, it's just rly stilted that way (and some of that material had laff potential imo).
