El Tomboto, Friday, 30 November 2007 09:31 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Friday, 30 November 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

With C&F gone and many other right-wing cartoonists being critical of the Bush administration, it looks like the golden age of batshittery has passed.

Also, is it just me or do new Day By Day strips make sense now?

abanana, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

nope, sorry. check the strip from 12/10. still batshit.

Mark Clemente, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Not till they pry the marvy marker from my cold, dead hands.

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Mark Clemente, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Let's try that again-

Not till they pry the marvy marker from my cold, dead hands.

Not that's the image I originally posted.

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, thank goodness it's gone. Sorry about that.

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

Mark Clemente, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:29 (eighteen years ago)

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, heck-

Taint

Dan Lacey, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

where's Apedolf Bushler?

burt_stanton, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

Romney one is pretty great, and Al Franken really can draw the lower 48 states real fast.

(I bet many of us could draw the 48 too.)

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

I tried drawing them all individually on a napkin and did a good job. My bar buddy could Identify 43 of them. That's a "B" - good enough for a dunken yrs truly.

Abbott, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

West Virginia is pretty tricky, I admit.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

I got mixed up on Illinois & Missouri mostly. God they have NO SHAPE at ALL. Kentucky, tho = classic.

Abbott, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

Illinois is like a dagger. Missouri pokes holes into other states.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

They're both kind of shaped like melted candles that were originally crafted by some kid at a pioneer festival booth.

Abbott, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

How many wooden varnished clocks have been made to look like Montana? It's even big enough to have a thermometer glued to the side.

I know Sedaris has that story about the Oregon clocks.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

all those ones out west are just squares

missouri got character

dmr, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

It touches more states than any other besides Tennessee.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

A fact which was drilled into our heads for the two years I went to grade school in Tennessee, like Missouri was going to get uppity and try to steal their spot.

en i see kay, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:50 (eighteen years ago)

Missouri shouldn't be allowed to include Kentucky since you can't drive there directly.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

you will not crucify mankind on a cross of compact fluorescent light bulbs!

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 27 December 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

Taking a brief stroll thru the TownHall toons is a different experience than a year ago, as many of the strips are actually firing on each other's favored GOP candidate, with a few of your standard anti-Hillary and/or hilarious projecting bits that we've seen for years.

In other words, wow, these assholes REALLY don't like John McCain.

kingfish, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 07:23 (eighteen years ago)

there's something so exceedingly joyless about the eco claus cartoon above, like the cartoonist themselves can't quite commit to the premise, and knows they are just swinging at a strawman out of habit of muscle memory...

Meanwhile, Pat Oliphant's latest contribution to the WaPo of all places:

Check here if that doesn't load.

Hurting 2, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

if chris muir weren't nearly 50, I'd swear that his problem is that he got his view of republicanism from seeing Kennedy on MTV.

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:04 (eighteen years ago)

actually, his age may not factor in.

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

Snoop will only stump for Teddy Riley.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:31 (eighteen years ago)

ick, even in the early 90s, when will people learn that visible ribcages are not attractive?

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:35 (eighteen years ago)

Somebody take over this thread for me, willya, like Daniel or whomever. I'm no longer at a desk job, so someone should take up the standard of mocking the continuing implosion of rightwing fuckheads as exhibited thru b&w toons.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:37 (eighteen years ago)

ick, even in the early 90s, when will people learn that visible ribcages are not attractive?

oh come on, it's not like her ribcage is visible and she's just standing in a normal posture and waiting for sally struthers to please help feed her. She has visible triceps and a vastus lateralis to die for.

what a socialist, attacking the free market like that. Doesn't he know that thru a lack of all regulations is the only true way for the Almighty to bless the Prosperous and the Righteous?

http://media.townhall.com/Townhall/Car/b/ca1219ad.jpg

18 months later, might as well use the same "joek"

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:46 (eighteen years ago)

The beauty of Mallard Fillmore is that it's even weirder than it sounds. If you tried to describe it to someone and said, "Oh, it's a comic where a talking duck spews far-right talking points," you still wouldn't quite capture the bizarre universe of the strip.

Nathan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:48 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i don't even understand his point in that first one... white politicians go out of their way to point out they're not racist to court black votes, which means... racism must not be that bad? Um, no, little duck. Let me tell you a story...

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:53 (eighteen years ago)

funny thing about that first Mallard strip is that I distinctly remember Charlton Heston using 'marched with King' as an excuse when he was accused of racism/not giving a damn about guns killing young black men.

milo z, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:53 (eighteen years ago)

"Oops! I forgot to make any damn sense!"
