The sheer ration of amusing lines to dialogue is amazing, it seems like more than every other line. For someone brought up on British sitcoms this is an incredible thing.

haha no let it bother you, that whole site is like hellbent on convincing people 30 Rock sucks now against all logic
It's not just AV Club that sez the show has JTS'ed, it seems every other usually tasteful and not-stupid internet entity is eulogizing 30 Rock. This is the one time that ILX is the sanest place on the internet.
i mean, maybe one dud episode? (the xmas one, as usual)
Agree that the ep contends for best of season title -- I'm going to have to rewatch it soon for all the zings I missed -- but you crazy, Xmas ep was awesome.
When Kenneth was having his first donkey spell, I thought it was a spell as in something a hill witch put on him.
Brian Williams needs to be on this show more.

its all part of the ongoing liz lemons racial weirdness theme
― ice cr?m, Friday, 12 March 2010 23:55 (sixteen years ago)
yeah i know. comedy jamaican and indian accents are basically racial slurs in the uk regardless of the laughing with/laughing at stuff. but i think we can all agree that britain is generally pretty racist, so i'm not sweating it.
― caek, Saturday, 13 March 2010 00:00 (sixteen years ago)
comedy indian accents are pretty slur-ish here. most non- west indian americans outside of nyc have never actually heard a jamaican accent.

This was one of the funnier episodes this season. I loved the bobsled part
However, I think Liz has gotten worse since the earlier seasons. Just this season I've started to dislike some of Liz's antics instead of brushing off the unfunny stuff as whatever. Liz is sort of like Michael Scott (The Office) - he has become more horrendous in his buffoonyness the past couple seasons; Liz has become more gross and more of a dork lately and some of it actually irritates me. I dunno, do any of you agree?
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 13 March 2010 01:09 (sixteen years ago)
yeah they are playing up the liz is a loser stuff too much IMO
― Deuce Bigalow: Male Juggalo (M@tt He1ges0n), Saturday, 13 March 2010 01:24 (sixteen years ago)
The one funny thing about the Jamaican accent bit was when she started accidentally slipping into that awful butchered Irish accent.

i loved that pamphlpet gag cuz they used to make pamphlet gags all the time when dr spaceman was on more often

btw the dr spaceman dr pepper commercial was super dope

i could see that line of thinking but she is far, far away from michasel scott levels of embarrassing self-parody
― hitler runoff (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 13 March 2010 03:24 (sixteen years ago)
I agree except for the being irritated part.
― probably a sock!! (╓abies), Saturday, 13 March 2010 03:25 (sixteen years ago)
also the thing about liz vs michael scott is that they actually write jokes for liz's character... for instance the cheese brochure thing and the amazing paranormal activity sleep walking thing -- with michael scott on the otherhand the character now boils down to "LOL I AM STILL A RACIST EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW IT"
― hitler runoff (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 13 March 2010 03:26 (sixteen years ago)
i dont really want to indulge in comparative sitcom studies here so ill just say liz has become uncomfortably schticky
― ice cr?m, Saturday, 13 March 2010 03:28 (sixteen years ago)
but the cheese brochure! so good.

no av club but i was watching the 1st season the other week and it was a lot less schticky and a lot, i dunno, deeper. not necc better/worse, just the diff. between season 1 of the simpsons and season 6 or whatever

― caek, Saturday, 13 March 2010 12:32 (sixteen years ago)
idk... couldn't generalize. in some ways it's LESS shticky imo (except for kenneth but he's always been my least favourite character). like there are fewer fake catchphrases now, i think. it's all good though. <3 elizabeth banks.
