That's the Man Whose Arms Exploded!

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Are you guys talking about Intonation? I want to go. Sign me up. Who's announced so far? ps- that guys is cute.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Oh btw -- Kenan, the B&S ticket is yours unless someone else really, really wants to go, and then you will have to fight. I had actually considered posting something on Craigslist to see if any cute indie girls wanted to come as my date.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

if i could go, see the band i want to see, then leave for the other 90% of bands i have no interest in seeing and come back for mission of burma that would be awesome. oh and if volcano suns are playing like i heard a rumor that they are i'm fucking there at the cracker dawn.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

On the show on TLC about that guy, they kept showing the clip over and over again of him pumping up his bicep and blood beginning to trickle down his arm. It was the opposite of cute.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

I need to see that.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

What? Blood from what???

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

So I got my coffee and I wandered around and nothing is happening so I sat back down. Actually I sat back down at the computer because there is this insanely cute boy reading poetry and I am trying to avoid staring at him. I hate cute boys.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

What? Blood from what??? His arm! His bicep that he had been directly injecting steriods into! It was horrible. That poor idiot's arms exploded.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:56 (twenty years ago)

I am going to spend the next twenty-five minutes thinking about how much I hate hot people unless someone comes up with a more enticing topic.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:57 (twenty years ago)

Wow. WTF. There was an article in the Red Eye about guys with body dismorphic disorder that moves them to work out to the extreme, to the tune of 8 hours a day. Chris, where are you?

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:58 (twenty years ago)

I'm on the 13th floor of one of the SAIC buildings.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

"Bigger-exia"

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

I'm about twenty-five feet away from the cute boy who is reading poetry with a pen in his hand. As if he is going to underline the poetry. I should talk him out of that. Except I am forced to hate him. My back is to him, so I have to crane my head to ogle him. Which is just as well.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

His bicep that he had been directly injecting steriods into! It was horrible. That poor idiot's arms exploded. one of my all time favorite snl skits was the "all steroid olympics" where phil hartman's weightlifter character has his arms physically detach from his torso while trying to lift 1,100 lbs or something. it was hilarious. poor dead phil hartman.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:01 (twenty years ago)

hahaha yeah, that was a good one. "He's ripped his arms right off! He's going to feel that tomorrow."

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:02 (twenty years ago)

Reason #332 why I'm not likely to be in a relationship any time soon: No one likes to hear "You don't understand, I like that you're not supercute!"

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:05 (twenty years ago)

But I thought he is supercute?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

why are you partial to those without supercute?

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Right, so I'm not interested in him.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:09 (twenty years ago)

Finding someone insanely attractive is like having an allergy to them. It's like they induce itching in you. Itching which it is impossible to scratch. You can add a little aloe vera balm, but its effects are temporary at best.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

Happily there are all these art students talking in art student talk to turn me off.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

I got it. You say that to guys and then they give your cock a sock.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:11 (twenty years ago)

is it too distracting? is it an insecurity thing?

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:12 (twenty years ago)

Yeh I know what you mean. The times I've been with hotrageous guys I was a little frustrated because the degree is attraction can never be matched by any action by which to make it manifest. So you still wind up thinking, "wow, I wish I could be with you" even when you are.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:14 (twenty years ago)

It is too distracting. I don't know if it's an insecurity thing as well, maybe it is, maybe not. But mostly it's just -- I mean, what is pleasant about finding someone really attractive? What can you do with that? xpost yes exactly!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:15 (twenty years ago)

Hey, the return key really is broken!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:15 (twenty years ago)

Is paragraphing on ILX broken? Let's see.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Yes it is.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Fuck a break tag.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

There's a mod board thread about it.

Does the HTML version work?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

doesn't that just put them on a pedestal?

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Plus on a cold intellectual level I think being attracted to someone is a stupid reason to be attracted to them.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Back before I was medicated and was living with my head up my ass I would get really uptight at the flower shop when I found a particular flower really beautiful. I would suffer from a wave of anxiety and think, what am I going to do about this? My mind was stimulated and I felt like I was being compelled to react, but had no means to do so.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

It's frustrating to have to put a "p" tag before every paragraph.

But I'll do it if I have to.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It's not so much "you are so awesome and no one can touch you". It's more like they're causing an unquenchable thirst. They are like drinking ocean water.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:20 (twenty years ago)

(That was to kel.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:21 (twenty years ago)

Plus on a cold intellectual level I think being attracted to someone is a stupid reason to be attracted to them.

So what's a good reason? They can juggle?

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:21 (twenty years ago)

That is a better reason, although perhaps not much better.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

Plus on a cold intellectual level I think being attracted to someone is a stupid reason to be attracted to them. Awesome. Now I'm not going to be able to get that thought out of my thoughts for AGES. Besides, yeah -- why the hell would one of the Beautiful People want to go out with me, is what I think when I see a superbly cool/dressed/accessorized boy on train. Only it doesn't feel self-pitying, it just feels pragmatic!

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

A better reason to be attracted to someone: You have spent some time with them, and either not felt alienated, or have felt alienated in a pleasing way.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

I don't understand. Are you rejecting physical attractiveness as a criterion for being... well... physically attracted to someone? Or are you rejecting your own reaction to finding someone attractive?

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:24 (twenty years ago)

I am off to see the movie. More about this later, maybe!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:25 (twenty years ago)

I don't want to sound shallow, but I enjoy having sex with people that I want to have sex with. Not as much people I don't.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:25 (twenty years ago)

But Chris has also said that he's done with sex.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Unquenchable thirst. I don't know why this is mainly an associated with aesthetically pleasing things/people. Maybe because of the illusory nature of outward beauty? If you find someone's mind attractive then there is more room for digging? If you are captivated by a beautiful body and face then you can try to dig and dig, but it's like teflon clad diamonds or something? I do think that it's important to be physically attracted to your partner, but too much beauty is frustrating.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

You just have to reason with yourself. Next time you see a guy that makes you get all sticky, just think, "Eh... he's probably a meathead anyway" and don't bother with him.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:29 (twenty years ago)

I guess the guys I'm most holistically attracted to are guys who I feel are attractive to ME in a way that is unique. I'm tired of thinking about this.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I don't like the feeling of being attracted to someone that everybody is attracted to, I think. xpost

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I like this Jesse. He makes sense.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)
