The whole time I was thinking "If Ben Linus buys it before either Jack or Kate (or both of them together) get brutally murdered, I'm going to break my television."
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 03:12 (sixteen years ago)
just wish he woulda killed that pointless chick.
for a moment in his flash forward i thought he killed principal 'no dick'
― bnw, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 03:18 (sixteen years ago)
Though it may be obvious already, I dug the connection (also back to Michael's return and death) that none of the chosen can kill themselves once they've been touched by Jacob - the same way Locke had to be killed by Ben, his self-hanging would've inevitably failed.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 03:32 (sixteen years ago)
AFTER ALL THIS TIME ALL I KNOW IS THIS: in my ideal flash sideways world, Ana Lucia and Ilana become very VERY good friends.

Random thoughts:The return to the season one musical montage felt really nice. I like that everyone returned to the beach like that.
Miles' oops or uh oh was pretty funny. And the comment about eight million dollars' worth of diamonds..finally Nikki & Paolo served a purpose.
The Jack/Richard scene was pretty intense-nice to see validation Rich did come from the Black Rock. Wish Jack wouldve demanded a few more answers but it is pretty common for this frstrating show.
Widmore's arrival might give Sun something to do again! That's exciting. Every episode my friends & I do the countdown to the "have you seen my husband" interjection.
Nice to see Alex again. I guess Rousseau works two jobs because the actress asked to be written off?
None of the candidates can kill them I assume? I wonder how that ties into all of Michael's suicide attempts?
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 04:39 (sixteen years ago)
Ahh Nhex didn't see your post about Michael. On the boat we saw Christian who seems to be bros with Smokey..but it was Friendly who told Michael the island wasn't done with him. We're going to need an official Lost bible to sort this all out after show ends.
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 04:43 (sixteen years ago)
The whole "Jacob touch" rule is also kind of a convenient idea for why just about everybody who was on 815 from the start of the show is dead now.
It wasn't Tania Raymond (Alex) who wanted to get written off the show, it was the mother, Danielle (Mira Furlan) - it seems like Alex's death was written to complete Ben's arc that season.
Good pt. about Smokey/Michael though - it seems like Michael was working indirectly for the Jacob/Others faction. Both Christian and Libby popped up as ghosts on the freighter though, supporting what he did. Unless Smokey ALSO hated Widmore! This could be a development coming soon...
Don't think we'll get a consistent explanation for this, honestly. But I always loved that whole bit about Michael not being able to kill himself, and seeing that idea returning.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 04:50 (sixteen years ago)
I worded it poorly but I was implying that Mira Furlan's character "works two jobs" & thus we probably won't see her on screen (because she wanted off the show).

best episode of the season yet
yet another question i doubt they will answer: Why did they say Sayid had to take the pill by his own free will, when as a candidate he would not have been able to kill himself?
― abanana, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 05:15 (sixteen years ago)
But jack needed to give it to him
― First and Last and Safeways (jjjusten), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 05:32 (sixteen years ago)
so glad that promo last week was fronting, Michael Emerson is the fucking man
― Krusty Burgerizer (some dude), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 05:44 (sixteen years ago)
During the replay of last week's episode (with the little pop-ups that fill you in on what's what), there was another instance of the annotations telling the story that the episode forgot to tell. It said that Dogen did not kill Sayid during their fight because doing so would have caused his "scale," so to speak, to tip towards evil. Much like Sayid's, etc.. Wasn't because of the baseball as much as because the baseball reminded him of Jacob, good/evil, and so forth.
I think that herein lies the answer, re: Jack needing to give Sayid the pill (which he was told was medicine), who would take it willingly (as medicine). I think that this also sheds a lot of light on the ridiculous lengths to which the Others, or at least the higher-ups, have gone to get other people to do their dirty work for them. I think that this is a pretty silly explanation, but there it is. I think that's that.
― winnebago taco, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 05:45 (sixteen years ago)
plenty of silly shit tonight ("it's this way... no, i'm pretty sure it's this way... NAY, IT IS THIS WAY") but def best ep so far why because good job Michael Emerson

so where the hell is Jin? holed up in Claire's tent with a bum leg I guess.
is Smokey taking them to Hydra Island cuz he knows Widmore is destroying the main one?
loved the whole Elba analogy

Is it because I've been watching seasons 1 thru 3 without commericals or are the new episodes shorter, the commericals longer?
― Jacob Sanders, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 06:29 (sixteen years ago)
it's funny how Alpert handily won my LOST character who you are most anxious to find out what the hell their deal is in season six poll and now just a few weeks later it feels like we pretty much know all we need to know about him and that's that what else now
― Krusty Burgerizer (some dude), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 06:42 (sixteen years ago)
his story is so empty i thought he might actually get blown up tonight.

really, really loved sideways Ben having to work with Arzt of all people to see his scheme through.
― Clay, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 07:59 (sixteen years ago)
Man, I loved this ep. But Ben's a great character, Emerson's a great actor, etc.
― helen said thizz (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 09:07 (sixteen years ago)
Hurley sleep-talking "cheese curds..." is literally the low point of the entire series for me. I really can't believe they actually used that. Mostly great episode, though - the redemption of Ben was totally emotional!
Oh yeah, one more weird thing - why did Alex have a large confederate flag patch on the back of her backpack?
― Shannon Whirry and the Bad Brains, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 11:11 (sixteen years ago)
Interesting to have Substitute teacher Locke acting like Smokey--tempting Ben into ambition.

― Shannon Whirry and the Bad Brains, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 12:46 (sixteen years ago)
She had a bunch of other flags on there too. I guess it was to show that she likes history. But she should think twice about bringing that backpack to Yale.

woulda liked a little more then a nod to his backstory when he entered the ship.
― bnw, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 15:35 (sixteen years ago)
i liked that they played it so light -- i know there are people that would want like a whole episode of Black Rock flashbacks but i'm fine with them letting you connect the dots there and moving on
― some dude, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 15:37 (sixteen years ago)
guessin the fact that he didn't die, and will likely be around for the rest of the season will provide ample opportunity to fill his backstory in a bit more
