OMG, a character reveal that I didn't spot 5 mins beforehand! (Keamy)
I did guess it was probably Jin in the freezer though.

So how long have Miles et al been hanging round the temple, chillin with the Others, yet not obtaining any useful information? And how come the Temple was this mighty fortress of fortritude that now anyone can just knock on the front door and come in? And are there about 8 Others left now? Yet only Cindy is allowed to be Voice of the Others?

I liked Dogen a lot, but kind of glad he's gone. Not quite sure what his intentions have been with Sayid.

This season has been making me hella depressed, for the first time I'm seriously doubting whether it's all going to be worthwhile - even Jack's Tattoos episode in s3 or whenever I could overlook, as at least they seemed to be trying to do something worthwhile. Now, as everyone seems to be thinking, it seems empty and kind of crazy for no reason. Looks like things could be about to improve, though...?

xp those of us who download don't see the 'next week on Lost' so would prefer if big reveals weren't discussed...

Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:28 (sixteen years ago)

when Dogen was unwrapping the dagger I thought it was going to be some smoke-sucking Ghostbuster machine ...

Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:29 (sixteen years ago)

For me that whole episode was great. Keamy back-reveal was hilarious though--since we'd already seen Omar. Who's making the eggs!?!?!

All the folks who post here after every episode that they don't care about the characters--we get it.

gotta say if this is shaping up to be jack vs sawyer/locke/sayid i know whose side im gonna be on

max, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 11:08 (sixteen years ago)

Great episode and apparently I'm one of the few who like the whole season too - "sappy" flash- sideways included. But obviously every denouement is disappointing per se.

Marco Damiani, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 11:47 (sixteen years ago)

Lostpedia has this under "Bloopers and continuity errors":

* The same background actors who are seen guarding the Temple door at the very start of the attack are seen with the Man in Black after the massacre is over.

I figured those were Temple Others who switched sides. What? Did Smokey have a little army waiting around?

President Keyes, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:06 (sixteen years ago)

Duh. I didn't notice "at the very start of the attack."

President Keyes, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:07 (sixteen years ago)

Sayid states that the only thing he ever wanted died in his arms, referring either to Nadia or to Shannon.

lol

Where was Sawyer? We last saw him hanging with Flocke - why wasn't he hanging out with that group at the end of this one?

Shannon Whirry and the Bad Brains, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:23 (sixteen years ago)

sawyer's in flocke's cave listening to the stooges

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:40 (sixteen years ago)

I think Radio Birdman would be appropriate.

President Keyes, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:50 (sixteen years ago)

how did they ship all that styrofoam to the island to build the temple?

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 12:52 (sixteen years ago)

How'd Jin get into that walk-in cooler anyway?

― Brakhage, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 11:44 PM (Yesterday) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

seems like the money he had at the airport was a delivery from his father-in-law to evil gangster types; maybe the money was confiscated at the aiport, gangsters got mad, put him in the cooler

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 13:41 (sixteen years ago)

how did they ship all that styrofoam to the island to build the temple?

lmao -- it really amazes me how Lost can sometimes be the best and most expensive-looking show on television, and sometimes has sets straight out of some syndicated '90s show about an ancient warrior tribe

@WhereIsJkwon (some dude), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 13:48 (sixteen years ago)

also i'm amazed that every single relevant character on the show, including the ones who weren't on 815, live in "LOST" angeles

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

don't get me wrong, was thoroughly entertained by this episode, even its ridiculousness. like, sayid and dogen's fight completely destroyed his "office" but sayid comes back 5 minutes later and dogen is tending to his plants.

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

series will end with jackob and locke sittin' on the beach

I think you're onto something here.

Hervé Grillechaise (WmC), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:12 (sixteen years ago)

well obviously there's some point to everyone in the flash sideways running into each other beyond just lazy storytelling -- in a way i think it's interesting that now they're making it clear that everyone who's been on the island, not just people on the plane but guys like Keamy, is part of the big picture, even if it means they have to beat you over the head with it.

@WhereIsJkwon (some dude), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:16 (sixteen years ago)

This episode was not very good, but I have to admit I enjoy any episode where Sayid kills people and/or beats them up.

ô_o (Nicole), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:17 (sixteen years ago)

yeah loved this episode!

ben's retreat from the pool room was so classic

what happened to him tho?

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:55 (sixteen years ago)

i thought sayid stabbing lockemonster was amazing

wish they'd give us the name of smokey

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:57 (sixteen years ago)

This show is so dumb. I love it, but it's so dumb.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:59 (sixteen years ago)

kate is definitely gonna get claimed by smokey and that is going to be AMAZING!

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 14:59 (sixteen years ago)

I don't really know how Kate would get claimed by smokey, seems like she might be an inside agent or a hesitant member of the evil side. Like ultimately she's going to have to decide whether to do something decisive for the good guys or the bad guys; it's going to be the natural conclusion of the Kate-Jack-Sawyer love triangle, and she's going to choose Jack/"good."

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:01 (sixteen years ago)

yeah throughout this episode i just kept lolling to myself about how ridiculous the whole thing and how stupid it must look to someone who has not followed lost religiously for 6 years

flash sideways was pretty pointless but nadia is so hot & sayid wasting keamy was amazing. wow that guy was such a great bad guy it was worth killing him twice! weird how they left it hanging like that xp

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:02 (sixteen years ago)

I've been watching the show for 6 years and it looked pretty dang stupid to me.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:03 (sixteen years ago)

Terry O'Quinn is still the best thing about this show by a long distance, dude is totally owning this season

alananana (Mr Raif), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:04 (sixteen years ago)

turning o.g. characters evil is a great way to get more mileage out of some of the characters that didnt really have anywhere left to go like sayid & claire

yeah i guess you're right abt kate. shes gonna be on the fence until the last episode probably isn't she?

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:07 (sixteen years ago)

This show is so dumb. I love it, but it's so dumb.

Like I feel like this show tries to cultivate an impression of being an "intelligent" show with complicated plot twists and parallel worlds and flashbacks/forwards but in terms of characters/relationships/dialogue/morality it's about the equivalent of Gray's Anatomy. It's structurally smart but so dumb in terms of human aspects.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:08 (sixteen years ago)

very very otm. i think that's why so many people are worried they might be heading towards a ending centered around morality & human aspects

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:09 (sixteen years ago)

Sorry if that seems repetitive, I know everyone complains about the characters and relationships, I was just trying to contrast this with the show's reputation for intelligence.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:11 (sixteen years ago)

i'm 99% sure they have some insanely good 'structural' card left to play btw that will inevitably involve the alt. timeline

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

it seemed pretty clear to me that Kate is going to be the 'eyes' of the audience going into this crazy Smokey gang, at least at first.

i think the show has a lot of little moments and scenes and lines of dialogue that are well written and character-driven, but a lot of the connective tissue bridging those moments is full of crazy inconsistent drunk logic and transparent plotting.

@WhereIsJkwon (some dude), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

was pretty great to FEAR smokey again during his loud chirp scene

shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:15 (sixteen years ago)

at the end of this episode we really have no idea where they are going next with the on-island stuff (i have not seen the preview) which is pretty great.

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:17 (sixteen years ago)

i wonder why dogen was the only thing keeping smokey from the temple. not that it really matters anymore.

my goons got goons (tpp), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 15:20 (sixteen years ago)

btw where's jin?

if he's met with any foul play then it will all be worth it to see sun go Herbal Dark Phoenix on a smokey

All the folks who post here after every episode that they don't care about the characters--we get it.

see but i do care about the characters and thats what is pissing me off - the flash sideways removes all our context and background for the characters, because obviously their backstory is now totally different. which would be ok if the majority of time in the FS wasnt spent slowly rolling out really vague background details instead of advancing any real progression. i mean am i supposed to have some emoto connection to FS Sayid just because he looks like the same guy, despite having them wait half the episode to clarify that he has spent the last 12 years nebulously doing "good things" to make up for all the bad stuff? in which case, he's a totally different character than OG Sayid, and why bother to care about him and his deal?

RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 17:13 (sixteen years ago)

for dissatisfied folks here is some deep analysis, this guy was recommended back in maybe the S5 thread and he catches lots of shit I miss, here is one example:

We're seeing a very distinct pattern in the LAX timeline, and here it is in a nutshell: the circle can be broken. People can change. Mistakes don't need to be repeated, over and over again. Some examples so far:

* Kate Austin is a fugitive on the run, only looking out for herself. She glances into a garage mirror and... BANG! Kate heads back to bring pregnant Claire her stuff, help her through false labor, and befriend her during a major crisis... all at great risk to her personal safety. Cue Claire's credit cards and a makeover shopping spree.

* John Locke is the same angry and defiant cripple he's always been. Still struggling against his paralysis he calls Jack's number, looks into a mirror and... BANG! Locke suddenly hangs up the phone and embraces his condition. Helen loves and accepts him for who he is, there's a nice tearful hug, and everything is unicorns and rainbows.

* Jack Shephard is a workaholic surgeon neglecting a son he only sees once a month. He looks in the mirror and... well, you get the picture. With some help from his mother Jack realizes the error of his ways, eases up on young David, and opens his loving arms to his son. Time for ice cream and some hair-rumpling.

This is some exciting news, actually. It may be proof that Jacob is right. People don't always have to fight, corrupt, and destroy.

I don't think Sayid ever looked in a mirror btw.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 17:15 (sixteen years ago)

also he reverted to his "character" (i.e. using violence to solve his problems), maybe this is why he is evil and failed the test?

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

Why is Sayid being written as Wolverine, now?
