I thought it was extremely odd to introduce two characters, have them hang around for a couple of episodes being cryptic and not helpful at all, and then off them a couple of episodes later.

That said this ep was composed entirely of awesome for me.

I was wondering why I loved Keamy so much, then I realized: Christopher Walken.

And even in some ways better than earlier seasons cause there's so much less sappy drama.

Dogen's last speech did remind me of scenes in which someone's about to die and to telegraph that they start revealing some intimate personal info but it worked here for me.

I get the impression that Claire's biding her time and will probably wig out at some future date and grab an axe.

Though if they were to, I dunno, kill each other in some sort of epic catfight with a variety of weapons that'd be ok by me too.

How'd Jin get into that walk-in cooler anyway?

We don't know yet - looks like those sideways flashes are going to start connecting more directly... I'm anticipating it.

The Dogen thing was kind of funny, because you knew he was pretty much dead as soon as Sayid brandished the knife and walked back in, but it was so similar to the Charlotte death due to the sudden character-defining exposition before dying.

Future crazy cakes Claire/Kate rumble could be pretty amusing!

i like dogen's instruction to kill flocke before he gets the opportunity to speak; links his power with words to jacob's power to manipulate and coerce.

There's this interesting equivalence between Jacob's and MIB's instructions/deals in Dogen's monologue - everyone's being used, but it seems like MIB offers something in return, unlike Jacob?

no but jacob was the one that offered to bring dogens son back from the dead or whatever.

guys wtf more slomo /= less suck the last scene was just as bad as the rest of this terrible, terrible ep. losing more hope with each passing week.

i think part of the reason that peeps are clinging to the last 5 minutes is because at least something actually happened that maybe moved the goddamn plot forward. the locke/sayid thing was just such a fucking throwaway, oh gee the dude who is smokey and cant get shot might be susceptible to the MAGIC DAGGER oh no wait he isnt thx for wasting 45 minutes of my life you jerkbags.

btw dogen did a really shitty job of guarding the temple

I don't care about the characters, so all I care about is Jacob/Flocke/mythology progress and body count, so I am a happy.

yeah it's really good that the whole Temple phase is coming to a close, that environment was starting to feel about as stifling to the show's ability to move forward as the cages in s3.

can we talk about the 'next week on Lost' promo? i'm kind of annoyed at what they touted will happen, both what's happening and the way they announced it.

I did guess it was probably Jin in the freezer though.

So how long have Miles et al been hanging round the temple, chillin with the Others, yet not obtaining any useful information? And how come the Temple was this mighty fortress of fortritude that now anyone can just knock on the front door and come in? And are there about 8 Others left now? Yet only Cindy is allowed to be Voice of the Others?

I liked Dogen a lot, but kind of glad he's gone. Not quite sure what his intentions have been with Sayid.

This season has been making me hella depressed, for the first time I'm seriously doubting whether it's all going to be worthwhile - even Jack's Tattoos episode in s3 or whenever I could overlook, as at least they seemed to be trying to do something worthwhile. Now, as everyone seems to be thinking, it seems empty and kind of crazy for no reason. Looks like things could be about to improve, though...?

xp those of us who download don't see the 'next week on Lost' so would prefer if big reveals weren't discussed...

when Dogen was unwrapping the dagger I thought it was going to be some smoke-sucking Ghostbuster machine ...

For me that whole episode was great. Keamy back-reveal was hilarious though--since we'd already seen Omar. Who's making the eggs!?!?!

All the folks who post here after every episode that they don't care about the characters--we get it.

Great episode and apparently I'm one of the few who like the whole season too - "sappy" flash- sideways included. But obviously every denouement is disappointing per se.

Lostpedia has this under "Bloopers and continuity errors":

* The same background actors who are seen guarding the Temple door at the very start of the attack are seen with the Man in Black after the massacre is over.

I figured those were Temple Others who switched sides. What? Did Smokey have a little army waiting around?

Duh. I didn't notice "at the very start of the attack."

Sayid states that the only thing he ever wanted died in his arms, referring either to Nadia or to Shannon.

seems like the money he had at the airport was a delivery from his father-in-law to evil gangster types; maybe the money was confiscated at the aiport, gangsters got mad, put him in the cooler

lmao -- it really amazes me how Lost can sometimes be the best and most expensive-looking show on television, and sometimes has sets straight out of some syndicated '90s show about an ancient warrior tribe

also i'm amazed that every single relevant character on the show, including the ones who weren't on 815, live in "LOST" angeles

don't get me wrong, was thoroughly entertained by this episode, even its ridiculousness. like, sayid and dogen's fight completely destroyed his "office" but sayid comes back 5 minutes later and dogen is tending to his plants.

I think you're onto something here.

well obviously there's some point to everyone in the flash sideways running into each other beyond just lazy storytelling -- in a way i think it's interesting that now they're making it clear that everyone who's been on the island, not just people on the plane but guys like Keamy, is part of the big picture, even if it means they have to beat you over the head with it.

This episode was not very good, but I have to admit I enjoy any episode where Sayid kills people and/or beats them up.

This show is so dumb. I love it, but it's so dumb.

kate is definitely gonna get claimed by smokey and that is going to be AMAZING!

I don't really know how Kate would get claimed by smokey, seems like she might be an inside agent or a hesitant member of the evil side. Like ultimately she's going to have to decide whether to do something decisive for the good guys or the bad guys; it's going to be the natural conclusion of the Kate-Jack-Sawyer love triangle, and she's going to choose Jack/"good."

yeah throughout this episode i just kept lolling to myself about how ridiculous the whole thing and how stupid it must look to someone who has not followed lost religiously for 6 years

flash sideways was pretty pointless but nadia is so hot & sayid wasting keamy was amazing. wow that guy was such a great bad guy it was worth killing him twice! weird how they left it hanging like that xp
