if they kill sun it'll be worth it

RE:LAX, the ep's about Gordon Lightfoot.
― WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 01:52 (sixteen years ago)
they wouldn't kill sun tho, both sun and jin have been surprisingly low-key so far about wanting to see their missing spouse that they've separated from for three years. surely the show won't kill either of them until they've extracted the sweet sweet melodrama out of that storyline?

Disappointed that no one has cited the weirdly sequenced copy of Raw Power on Lostpedia.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 04:16 (sixteen years ago)
haha yeah on the subtitled repeat episode last week it was like "this is the smoke monster's point of view... this is the house Sawyer lived in... the song that is playing is "Search And Destroy" by Iggy And The Stooges" and I was hoping to see "this is the special Dharma version of the LP" but no luck.
― sleeve, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 05:11 (sixteen years ago)
Why not make an edit?
― Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 05:35 (sixteen years ago)
"surely the show won't kill either of them until they've extracted the sweet sweet melodrama out of that storyline?"
what's more melodramatic than encountering a dead spouse then raising your arms to the heavens howling like wolverine? or cricket bat rampage?
― Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:03 (sixteen years ago)
oh, yay, it's lost tonight
― the archetypal ghetto hustler (history mayne), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:04 (sixteen years ago)
let's hope the temple was season 6's craphole island and we get some good episodes now.
― abanana, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:07 (sixteen years ago)
ok im joining the chorus of people who are angry and starting to think this season sucks
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:14 (sixteen years ago)
fucking flash sideways is such a waste of goddamn time

You're gonna make Lorax mad
― ^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:17 (sixteen years ago)
but yeah, I hope there's some sort of point to these lateral flashes, because damn
― ^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:18 (sixteen years ago)
the lateral flashes are what happens after the entire show is over it seems? locke sends everyone back to happyworld.
― shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:19 (sixteen years ago)
so, not lateral at all, but more flashing forward to 2004
― shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:20 (sixteen years ago)
i dont think this season in particular sucks
― max, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:21 (sixteen years ago)
I still like 'em. The melodrama in the sideways world is as good as its ever been in previous season flashbacks! I also like pretty much any ridiculous Sayid action sequence. Though this week I like how it ended, since it seems like they're actually might be building towards something or connecting that world together.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:22 (sixteen years ago)
RIP alterna-Keamy, you hot piece of ass. Deserved to die for that accent alone!
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:27 (sixteen years ago)
I thought that this was a good ep, but the flash sideways stuff was particularly uninteresting even by flash sideways standards. But then, I'm not really a fan of Sayid anyway.
The problem for me continues to be that I have no investment in anything these characters do. I'm just watching everything play out and hoping it pans out. The upside of which is that I don't care enough to dislike these episodes. But I don't love them either. I just passively watch them.
Also It seems that once these characters left the island and then decided to go back, they all lost a lot of motivation for doing anything but being pawns in this grand scheme. Like you get the sense that all the og losties are just wandering the island (or hangin in the temple) aimlessly waiting for someone to tell them what to do. Instead of having a purpose of their own.
But on balance, I thought this episode, like this season in general, was pretty good. And even in some ways better than earlier seasons cause there's so much less sappy drama. I even have kinda enjoyed the flash sideways. I guess I think that they're executing their ideas pretty well at this point, but they created a huge structural flaw with this Jacob/Smokey business sucking the purpose out of much of the rest of the cast. Though, I do expect this to get better. We're just not there yet.
― Mister Jim, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:42 (sixteen years ago)
good post, I agree with all of that
― HervĂ© Grillechaise (WmC), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:43 (sixteen years ago)
i really liked when ben lapidus and whatsherface showed up
― shite new answers (cutty), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:03 (sixteen years ago)
yeah it was nice they didn't have a dramatic entrance and were just mixed up in the insanity. the last 5 minutes were great, the rest was meh. so glad the boring temple people bought it.
― i'm #FFFFFF btw (bnw), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)
If speaking to Flocke is all it takes, Jin is infected too.. and poised to be on the opposing side from Sun.
Jacob touched both of them while telling them their love was something special. Can it end the war?
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:17 (sixteen years ago)
/cheesy
But you know, this IS lost.
I thought it was extremely odd to introduce two characters, have them hang around for a couple of episodes being cryptic and not helpful at all, and then off them a couple of episodes later.
That said this ep was composed entirely of awesome for me.
I was wondering why I loved Keamy so much, then I realized: Christopher Walken.
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:35 (sixteen years ago)
this one was pretty good
― dmr, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:48 (sixteen years ago)
enjoyed tonight quite a lot! i get the feeling this season is about to hit its stride and get really good.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 04:57 (sixteen years ago)
Last scene is soooooooooo good
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:04 (sixteen years ago)
wholeheartedly agree.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:18 (sixteen years ago)

oh i was going to kill you sayid but then this mystical baseball reminded me that my kid died because of me ENTER STILTED CLUMSY PLOT EXPOSITION
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:27 (sixteen years ago)
if kate killed my baby she must di OH WAIT LOOK OUT SMOKEY IS COMING GET INTO THIS HOLE
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:28 (sixteen years ago)
Dogen's last speech did remind me of scenes in which someone's about to die and to telegraph that they start revealing some intimate personal info but it worked here for me.
I get the impression that Claire's biding her time and will probably wig out at some future date and grab an axe.
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:35 (sixteen years ago)
Though if they were to, I dunno, kill each other in some sort of epic catfight with a variety of weapons that'd be ok by me too.
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:39 (sixteen years ago)
How'd Jin get into that walk-in cooler anyway?
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:44 (sixteen years ago)
We don't know yet - looks like those sideways flashes are going to start connecting more directly... I'm anticipating it.
The Dogen thing was kind of funny, because you knew he was pretty much dead as soon as Sayid brandished the knife and walked back in, but it was so similar to the Charlotte death due to the sudden character-defining exposition before dying.
Future crazy cakes Claire/Kate rumble could be pretty amusing!
― Nhex, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:49 (sixteen years ago)
i like dogen's instruction to kill flocke before he gets the opportunity to speak; links his power with words to jacob's power to manipulate and coerce.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:59 (sixteen years ago)
There's this interesting equivalence between Jacob's and MIB's instructions/deals in Dogen's monologue - everyone's being used, but it seems like MIB offers something in return, unlike Jacob?
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:04 (sixteen years ago)
no but jacob was the one that offered to bring dogens son back from the dead or whatever.
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:06 (sixteen years ago)
Oh yeah, the accent made that hard to get - thanks
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:07 (sixteen years ago)
note: as irritated as i am with the season, i am still obsessively burning every detail into my head, so thats worth something
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:08 (sixteen years ago)
guys wtf more slomo /= less suck the last scene was just as bad as the rest of this terrible, terrible ep. losing more hope with each passing week.
― all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:08 (sixteen years ago)
i think part of the reason that peeps are clinging to the last 5 minutes is because at least something actually happened that maybe moved the goddamn plot forward. the locke/sayid thing was just such a fucking throwaway, oh gee the dude who is smokey and cant get shot might be susceptible to the MAGIC DAGGER oh no wait he isnt thx for wasting 45 minutes of my life you jerkbags.
― RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:13 (sixteen years ago)
btw dogen did a really shitty job of guarding the temple
UNLESS JACOB KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN THUSLY OMG!!!
series will end with jackob and locke sittin' on the beach
― all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:20 (sixteen years ago)
I don't care about the characters, so all I care about is Jacob/Flocke/mythology progress and body count, so I am a happy.
― Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 06:33 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, this.
― Clay, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:09 (sixteen years ago)
yeah it's really good that the whole Temple phase is coming to a close, that environment was starting to feel about as stifling to the show's ability to move forward as the cages in s3.
can we talk about the 'next week on Lost' promo? i'm kind of annoyed at what they touted will happen, both what's happening and the way they announced it.
― some dude, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:19 (sixteen years ago)
OMG, a character reveal that I didn't spot 5 mins beforehand! (Keamy)I did guess it was probably Jin in the freezer though.
So how long have Miles et al been hanging round the temple, chillin with the Others, yet not obtaining any useful information? And how come the Temple was this mighty fortress of fortritude that now anyone can just knock on the front door and come in? And are there about 8 Others left now? Yet only Cindy is allowed to be Voice of the Others?
I liked Dogen a lot, but kind of glad he's gone. Not quite sure what his intentions have been with Sayid.
This season has been making me hella depressed, for the first time I'm seriously doubting whether it's all going to be worthwhile - even Jack's Tattoos episode in s3 or whenever I could overlook, as at least they seemed to be trying to do something worthwhile. Now, as everyone seems to be thinking, it seems empty and kind of crazy for no reason. Looks like things could be about to improve, though...?
xp those of us who download don't see the 'next week on Lost' so would prefer if big reveals weren't discussed...
― Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:28 (sixteen years ago)
when Dogen was unwrapping the dagger I thought it was going to be some smoke-sucking Ghostbuster machine ...
― Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 07:29 (sixteen years ago)
For me that whole episode was great. Keamy back-reveal was hilarious though--since we'd already seen Omar. Who's making the eggs!?!?!
All the folks who post here after every episode that they don't care about the characters--we get it.
