Actually the easiest Wallace is Mel Gibson in Braveheart--but fuck that Nazi.

President Keyes, Saturday, 27 February 2010 19:09 (sixteen years ago)

why do some of you people even watch the show? I think some of you are going to be heavily disappointed no matter what happens.

mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 27 February 2010 20:27 (sixteen years ago)

^^^this!

This is some exciting news, actually. It may be proof that Jacob is right. People don't always have to fight, corrupt, and destroy.

Actually, I've been thinking that the alt reality has been showing how much happier and better adjusted these people are in a universe where Jacob isn't interfering with their lives.

Anyway a thought I had about this show while discussing it with some friends today. The problem is that ever since the Jacob and Smokey feud was introduced there has been nothing for me to be invested in. I mean the actual feud itself, I know nothing about and have no investment in. And any "stakes" involving the other characters and their lives and disagreements has been rendered irrelevant by this feud so I just have no investment in anything that's going on with this show any more. I literally just watch the show thinking "well let's see where they go with this. Hopefully somewhere good."

But I really don't care what happens, and at this point I honestly have no reason to. There's no outcome to root for, if you will.

Mister Jim, Sunday, 28 February 2010 05:51 (sixteen years ago)

I don't think the presence of those 2 characters/entities really changes all that much -- there's been big ambiguous conflicts, mostly Ben and Widmore, guiding the show for a long time, and like that one this one is ultimately about the same thing (what the island is/does/"means").

dora the explaro (some dude), Sunday, 28 February 2010 06:43 (sixteen years ago)

Also knowing that Locke isn't Locke makes me not care about Locke, who is about 90% of the show for me.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Sunday, 28 February 2010 09:41 (sixteen years ago)

I get the feeling that there's more to that than they've let on, though - throwing out that "Don't tell me what I can't do!" line seemed very deliberate.

Nhex, Sunday, 28 February 2010 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

i've always thought that lost posits its big conflicts primarily as binaries (black/white, jack/locke, jacob/smokey, ben/widmore, science/faith, dharma/hippies) and now i'm getting the sinking feeling that the resolution of the show is ultimately going to be the banal "it's all grey." -_-

becoz we've put in the man-hours and want to see it resolved. same as you.

show feels so empty now. they only have about five characters per ep. all of them following jacob's plan or something.

the archetypal ghetto hustler (history mayne), Sunday, 28 February 2010 17:45 (sixteen years ago)

there are four bands playing a basement show tonight at my record store and one of the guys in one of the bands has another group that is a LOST-themed group called PREVIOUSLY ON LOST. good idea!

That guy being Jacob is why I'm over the whole Jacob thing. I liked him better as a spooky cabin ghost.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Monday, 1 March 2010 07:43 (sixteen years ago)

ya. is it a zardoz thing? like, the guy behind the curtain is a massive doucher?

the archetypal ghetto hustler (history mayne), Monday, 1 March 2010 09:56 (sixteen years ago)

yeah they should've had Rob Kyker keep playing Jacob, dude is appropriately creepy-looking

waka yoga flame (some dude), Monday, 1 March 2010 11:21 (sixteen years ago)

I liked him better as a spooky cabin ghost.

i thought jacob was never spooky cabin ghost, it was christian, ie, smokey?

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 1 March 2010 13:57 (sixteen years ago)

Jacob does look a bit rubbish.

My dearest wish right now for this series is for more Widmore dudes to turn up and start laying waste to the place. It could do with a bit of menace.

Matt DC, Monday, 1 March 2010 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

in alt-world i doubt widmore cares about the island. penny and desmond are probably married too.

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:07 (sixteen years ago)

x-post I thought Jacob's "What about you?" line reading was awesome though.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Monday, 1 March 2010 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

i think my 2nd favorite line of this season is jacob's 'some people you can get in the back of a cab with and tell them what they need to do, others you have to let stare out at the ocean for awhile'. my 1st fav is lapidus' 'i'm seeing it, but i ain't believing it'.

did you mean: fart blasters? (nickalicious), Monday, 1 March 2010 20:25 (sixteen years ago)

haha, just for frank lines, i would've picked "weirdest damn funeral i ever been to"

Nhex, Monday, 1 March 2010 20:28 (sixteen years ago)

ha that was great

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 1 March 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

Just thinking that by being a candidate, and by not being on the plane when he was supposed to be, Lapidus must have unconsciously cheated Jacob in some way. You'd think Jacob would have had the foresight to have made him not an alcoholic.

Matt DC, Monday, 1 March 2010 20:49 (sixteen years ago)

love lapidus.

Man or Austro-Hungarian? (Pillbox), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 00:42 (sixteen years ago)

lol the next episode is actually called Sundown.
S1 E06 was House of the Rising Sun. It's like some kind of "mirror" "image".

if they kill sun it'll be worth it

RE:LAX, the ep's about Gordon Lightfoot.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 01:52 (sixteen years ago)

they wouldn't kill sun tho, both sun and jin have been surprisingly low-key so far about wanting to see their missing spouse that they've separated from for three years. surely the show won't kill either of them until they've extracted the sweet sweet melodrama out of that storyline?

Disappointed that no one has cited the weirdly sequenced copy of Raw Power on Lostpedia.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 04:16 (sixteen years ago)

haha yeah on the subtitled repeat episode last week it was like "this is the smoke monster's point of view... this is the house Sawyer lived in... the song that is playing is "Search And Destroy" by Iggy And The Stooges" and I was hoping to see "this is the special Dharma version of the LP" but no luck.

sleeve, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 05:11 (sixteen years ago)

Why not make an edit?

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

"surely the show won't kill either of them until they've extracted the sweet sweet melodrama out of that storyline?"

what's more melodramatic than encountering a dead spouse then raising your arms to the heavens howling like wolverine? or cricket bat rampage?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

oh, yay, it's lost tonight

the archetypal ghetto hustler (history mayne), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

let's hope the temple was season 6's craphole island and we get some good episodes now.
