Axe murder: interesting in terms of "this may be clue" - no. Exciting to watch that and then watvh Jin having to lie with a cool head - sort of. More exciting than if Claire sat down with them for tea - we'll never know

Mry prob w/ Claire's axe murdering ways was that the inevitable outcome was telegraphed a mile away based on her victim's status as a black guy with a speaking part on Lost.

for dissatisfied folks here is some deep analysis, this guy was recommended back in maybe the S5 thread and he catches lots of shit I miss, here is one example:

We're seeing a very distinct pattern in the LAX timeline, and here it is in a nutshell: the circle can be broken. People can change. Mistakes don't need to be repeated, over and over again. Some examples so far:

* Kate Austin is a fugitive on the run, only looking out for herself. She glances into a garage mirror and... BANG! Kate heads back to bring pregnant Claire her stuff, help her through false labor, and befriend her during a major crisis... all at great risk to her personal safety. the problem is, no-one cares! it isn't very exciting! we're not invested in jack as a character. and the conclusion is so banal anyway!

I've been thinking about the wheel in the light house and how only a finite number of names could fit on the wheel. There can be no more future contestants. Perhaps an apocalypse is on the horizon.

When MiB says "no matter who comes to the island the same thing happens over and over" it's almost as if Jacob and MiB lived through the apocalypse and had to go back in time over and over again.

This is some exciting news, actually. It may be proof that Jacob is right. People don't always have to fight, corrupt, and destroy.

Actually, I've been thinking that the alt reality has been showing how much happier and better adjusted these people are in a universe where Jacob isn't interfering with their lives.

Anyway a thought I had about this show while discussing it with some friends today. The problem is that ever since the Jacob and Smokey feud was introduced there has been nothing for me to be invested in. I mean the actual feud itself, I know nothing about and have no investment in. And any "stakes" involving the other characters and their lives and disagreements has been rendered irrelevant by this feud so I just have no investment in anything that's going on with this show any more. I literally just watch the show thinking "well let's see where they go with this. Hopefully somewhere good."

But I really don't care what happens, and at this point I honestly have no reason to. There's no outcome to root for, if you will.

I don't think the presence of those 2 characters/entities really changes all that much -- there's been big ambiguous conflicts, mostly Ben and Widmore, guiding the show for a long time, and like that one this one is ultimately about the same thing (what the island is/does/"means").

Also knowing that Locke isn't Locke makes me not care about Locke, who is about 90% of the show for me.

I get the feeling that there's more to that than they've let on, though - throwing out that "Don't tell me what I can't do!" line seemed very deliberate.

i've always thought that lost posits its big conflicts primarily as binaries (black/white, jack/locke, jacob/smokey, ben/widmore, science/faith, dharma/hippies) and now i'm getting the sinking feeling that the resolution of the show is ultimately going to be the banal "it's all grey." -_-

show feels so empty now. they only have about five characters per ep. all of them following jacob's plan or something.

there are four bands playing a basement show tonight at my record store and one of the guys in one of the bands has another group that is a LOST-themed group called PREVIOUSLY ON LOST. good idea!

i think my 2nd favorite line of this season is jacob's 'some people you can get in the back of a cab with and tell them what they need to do, others you have to let stare out at the ocean for awhile'. my 1st fav is lapidus' 'i'm seeing it, but i ain't believing it'.

Just thinking that by being a candidate, and by not being on the plane when he was supposed to be, Lapidus must have unconsciously cheated Jacob in some way. You'd think Jacob would have had the foresight to have made him not an alcoholic.
