I know people name their pets all manner of stupid things but CHOOCHY?

still lolling at chasing a dog for SEVENTEEN HOURS

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:18 (seventeen years ago)

I KNOW that is the thing about this story that is utterly ridiculous. how does it take 17 hours to catch a dog?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

You have to remember that the Curt Schilling body shape is relatively prevalent here, only without the attendant Professional Athlete caveat.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:39 (seventeen years ago)

Hey I just moved here!

Maria, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:01 (seventeen years ago)

Welcome! Hope that wasn't your poodle at the airport!

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)

In complement to the exhibition, Fairey will be creating public art works at sites around Boston.

I'm really craving some Pho Pasteur right about now. I miss Cambridge :(

eight months pass...

Staying in Peabody this weekend - hotel rates went nuts thanks to the game, I guess. So we're spending one day in Salem, etc. and then Saturday around Boston for the game.

A former local recommended Legal Sea Foods, which appears to have a place near the hotel - is it worth going there for dinner?

ice cr?m paint job (milo z), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

Legal is fine (been a couple times) but I'm not a seafood expert by any means.

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 23:26 (sixteen years ago)

Legal is basically "Old Reliable"; it's a chain, but it's a chain with really good food (plus every restaurant is styled differently, making it seem less chain-like).

I just discovered a pretty decent Mexican place right next to Fenway called La Verdad which has very good drinks and very good guacamole.

nate dogg is a feeling (HI DERE), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:06 (sixteen years ago)

La Verdad, eh? Never heard of it!!! Where by Fenway?

Milo I agree that Legal is a safe bet despite it being a chain. The one by the aquarium is particularly nice and you can go see the punk rock penguins!

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:08 (sixteen years ago)

They have awesome hair and the Aquarium is one of my favorite places in Boston so I would recommend a visit.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:11 (sixteen years ago)

It's all the way down by the end, next to Tequila Rain. I was there Monday and they had many tasty tequila-based drinks.

nate dogg is a feeling (HI DERE), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:12 (sixteen years ago)

Agreed re: Legal Sea Food, its location near the Aquarium and the Aquarium itself. All worth it.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:12 (sixteen years ago)

x-post Tequila Rain is on Landsdowne Right? I have been down past the HoB in a while. Going to see Pet Shop Boys there in a couple weeks maybe we'll have to have dinner at that Mexican joint first!!!

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:16 (sixteen years ago)

haha yes on Landsdowne, somehow I managed to leave that out oops

nate dogg is a feeling (HI DERE), Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:16 (sixteen years ago)

I work a few blocks from the aquarium so I can definitely vouch for that legal seafoods and the area in general. The north end is also a few blocks away too, which is pretty much like restaurant row.

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 20 August 2009 19:59 (sixteen years ago)

Tequila Rain is a hilarious name for a restaurant imo

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 20 August 2009 20:16 (sixteen years ago)

milo avoid the suburban legals imo

call all destroyer, Thursday, 20 August 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

x-post Oh Tequila Rain isn't a restauarant it's acout as cheesy a dance club as they come.

one month passes...

boston FAP - let's do it up

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:37 (sixteen years ago)

wife & i just moved here and don't really know anybody

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:37 (sixteen years ago)

also doesn't have to be FAP night but if anyone's down for some texas hold-em poker i am especially interested, especially if poker players are into playing records and/or sampling beers/bourbons

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:41 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, this should happen. It's about time I met some of the other fools from this city in person anyway.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:43 (sixteen years ago)

publick house!

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:43 (sixteen years ago)

Yes! <3 PH. I'll have to take the T out there but that's ok. Since I've moved off it the B line seems like such a huge pain in the ass but it's ok, I'll make an exception for a FAP.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:45 (sixteen years ago)

btw the Roadhouse which is owned by the PH ppl and just a little further up on Beacon is good too and the specialty store is right next door. You get 10% off there with a receipt from either restaurant so you snobs can buy your fancy drinks on the (sorta) cheap. ;-)

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:46 (sixteen years ago)

AND they have fried pickles.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:46 (sixteen years ago)

ph is on the c tho right? a little better than the b

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:47 (sixteen years ago)

i was totally wondering about the roadhouse

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:47 (sixteen years ago)

first time i went past it coming from my apartment i was like 'ohh shit did the publick house close down ???" b/c they look similar but yea then a block later is the PH

fried pickles are crazy, so tasty

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:48 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, it's on the C which is indeed better than the B but not quite as good as the D. lol. I went to roadhouse for the first time a couple months ago because the PH was closing early and it was surprisingly good. Probably not quite as good as PH but it's a little less insanely crowded and did I mention the fried pickles?

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

what kind of fried pickles are they - spears, say, or the pickle chips? (prefer spears but either is pretty special)

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:50 (sixteen years ago)

Hmmmm. They are pickle chips. I had never had them before and was sort of o_O at the idea but my god I was wrong.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:52 (sixteen years ago)

yea fried pickles are prob one of the best things ever. best bar food at least

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:54 (sixteen years ago)

Wait have you been to the PH yet? If not then that's definitely where the FAP should be because it's the original and best. Also where are you guys living? I spent a lot of time living in various crappy apts in Allston/Brighton so I know the area well.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

no i haven't been to ph. want to really badly.

we live right near cleveland circle. i work at bc, in one of their libraries, so my boston experience so far has basically been limited to that area w/ few exceptions

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:57 (sixteen years ago)

hi guys!

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

let's get this done.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

apartment itself is GREAT, we love it. neighborhood i have some reservations about, mostly b/c i work at BC and it basically feels like an extension of the campus. was surprised when i first got here b/c we were living in a small town (northampton MA) before but this neighborhood is somehow less diverse than the 30,000 pop. town we just moved from

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

totally xp!

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

Ahhh, ok. I used to live right by there off Comm Ave. The bars immediately around there really suck imo because they're all full of BC kids. Tasca on Comm has great tapas and Bangkok Bistro in Cleavland Circle has decent Thai. Best pizza I found around there is from Sabatinos - also on Comm. There used to be a movie theatre right in CC but I think that's closed down. ;_;

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:59 (sixteen years ago)

tasca is great

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

Are you on Tasca's mailing list? If so then you will get emails from Dan the manager. He sends all kinds of really good coupons. It's worth it.

Would the 1st weekend in October work? Maybe the Saturday?

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

ps - you guys better be fun.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

yea bangok bistro is good, and sadly the movie place is done. will try tasca. it's kind of nice tho living near the c & d, getting into the city is pretty easy. getting to simmons is easy too. sean u live in allston right? haven't been there much so far but some areas seem pretty cool

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

lol enbb i can't promise anything

mark cl, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

i might be taking my mom out for her birthday on that saturday (10/3), tho that friday would totally work

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

I was in Allston last night. I can't believe how much new stuff there is on Brighton Ave. So many of the stores/bars have changed!

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

I could probably do the Friday too.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 03:04 (sixteen years ago)
