I agree that Sun exemplifies some wasted potential but y'all are forgetting her awesome oar-whacking scene where she takes Ben out followed by the "I lied" shrug.
― sleeve, Monday, 22 February 2010 21:46 (sixteen years ago)
I'd have a little more respect for her if she beat some answers out of Richard with an oar too
― Brakhage, Monday, 22 February 2010 21:55 (sixteen years ago)
it was cool when she shot Pickett's wife. lol Pickett.
― mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 22 February 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)
Poor Trixie! And yeah, that oar scene was great, tru dat
― Nhex, Monday, 22 February 2010 22:08 (sixteen years ago)
It would be really great if the writers start using Sun as a proxy for the viewer by having her run around the island and use oars to beat answers out of people. Especially if she beats Jack into unconsciousness in the process.
― she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:20 (sixteen years ago)
Jack and Kate are Adam and Eve after Sun kills them with an oar.

its amazing how every character on lost at some point in their life perfected the technique of knocking someone out with one blow. charlie knocks desmond out cooold with an oar at the end of S3. i think kate knocks someone out with a wooden instrument at least once a season
― david cam'ron (tpp), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:26 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah last time I tried to knock someone out with an oar I had to hit them five or six times. It was so embarassing.
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:33 (sixteen years ago)
haha! rewatching the end of S2 at the moment its a real peak of the show imo. you still have the goofy light-hearted episodes while at the same time the hatch stuff is genuinely mysterious and the introduction of ben is probably the best thing that ever happened to the show. S6 needs more ben!
― david cam'ron (tpp), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:51 (sixteen years ago)
xp statements like that always make me think about Heavenly Creatures
I'm pretty curious about how Ben's character is going to progress this season actually... even as a master manipulator he still inherently believed in Jacob and "the island" almost as much as Locke. Now that he's been completely schooled in that game (compared to his tit-for-tat with Widmore) and his seemingly genuine remorse for the deaths of Alex and Locke I wonder how they're going to resolve his character, since he's too important now to get unceremoniously killed off.
― Nhex, Monday, 22 February 2010 22:56 (sixteen years ago)
This seems to be the first time in the whole series where Ben doesn't have any kind of agenda at all. He seems kind of rudderless.
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 22 February 2010 23:03 (sixteen years ago)
He might still have some bad shit planned for Sayid I suppose.
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 22 February 2010 23:04 (sixteen years ago)
rudderless ben frustrates me, he's the show's biggest 'waste of a character' imo. though when flocke sent ben out to retrieve richard from the beach, ben still had the old compulsion to lie about everything, so maybe they'll salvage him yet.
― phantompenguin, Monday, 22 February 2010 23:55 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah at this point he's completely expendable. Though if the show's about 'redemption' I'd imagine he'd redeem himself by saving somebody before he gets reduced to paste
― Brakhage, Tuesday, 23 February 2010 00:01 (sixteen years ago)
I like what they're doing to Ben right now, personally. He's just a few hours out from finding out that he's been the biggest tool in Smokey's toolbelt for years -- I figure he's going to get his bearings and go terminator in a couple of episodes, and it's going to be so much more effective after the whiny 9th-grader "you...used me" line to Flocke.

Couldn't Jin not really speak English when Claire last saw him? Not that she's in any state of mind/body to notice that

that's the least of this episode's problems tbh

the sappiness of the alt timeline makes me think either (1) that world will come into an apocalypse very soon or (2) it is a world lacking in free will due to the monster being released from the island

Claire was almost not terrible for a couple moments. Crazy as numb is scarier then crazy as hysterical shrieking obv. It might have been effective if they didn't telegraph everything so badly. lol @ jack being a total ego maniac re: this might answer all our questi-- OH MY GOD MY NAME IS HERE GO TO ME NOW

Lots of allusions to White Rabbit, loved the "key" being under the statue.

whole show starting to feel like a bunch of allusions in lieu of actual content tho

Wonder if smokey was going to bring Sawyer to lighthouse, have Ford see "his" church*, them escape somehow that way? Jacob called Jack's overreaction/HULKSMASH?*I deifinitely saw Korean building in the mirror for a second, and what looked like a church.. Maybe the one Sawyer's parents' funeral was at.
