why would you ever need that

It is a question worth asking.

I have a feeling that gif will make a reappearance immediately following the finale.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 19 February 2010 18:39 (sixteen years ago)

any joe frank fans in here? there was a bit where flocke talking to james almost mimicked exactly a bit from joe frank's take on the joseph story. the part where he goes (and i misquote) if you were my son, i would never have allowed this to happen; i would pull you off that cross so fast etc....

andrew m., Friday, 19 February 2010 19:11 (sixteen years ago)

Huge Joe Frank fan here. Don't you mean MIB talking to Richard though?

Brakhage, Friday, 19 February 2010 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

Not so much Locke, but Ben Linus is a walking Joe Frank monologue, and everyone's backstory was pilfered from This American Life segments.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 19 February 2010 19:26 (sixteen years ago)

really curious where they'll go with the 'Charlie' episode

Fahrvergnügent (herb albert), Friday, 19 February 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

Begins with him busking in Purgatory: 'I know what it's like to be dead ... I know what it is to be sad'

Brakhage, Friday, 19 February 2010 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

Why does Kwon have to be Sun or Jin, when they have a kid who is conveniently not even on the island?

mh, Friday, 19 February 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)

MIB said in last ep he had no idea whether Kwon referred to Jin, Sun, or child

Brakhage, Friday, 19 February 2010 23:15 (sixteen years ago)

Not that the writers have never broken a convention they set up, but the flashback they pulled to illustrate the ambiguity showed Jacob touching Jin & Sun, and without some kind of additional ovarian massage scene, that sort of rules out the kid.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 19 February 2010 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

But he went and touched Kate too and she's not included.

wmlynch, Friday, 19 February 2010 23:48 (sixteen years ago)

did they replay the kate touch when they were in the cave of names?

Philip Nunez, Friday, 19 February 2010 23:53 (sixteen years ago)

No. And I thought Ethan was designated Other ovarian massager.

wmlynch, Saturday, 20 February 2010 00:19 (sixteen years ago)

did jacob actually touch sun, though? or just jin?

just1n3, Saturday, 20 February 2010 01:26 (sixteen years ago)

both

yeah that's the conversation i meant.

andrew m., Saturday, 20 February 2010 02:10 (sixteen years ago)

has anyone, like me, watched the premiere episodes a second time? once you've gotten over the initial novelty of 'new lost!'... they are exceedingly tiresome to watch.

i did notice that hurley is clean shaven when coming back from sydney, despite having huge sideburns at locke's firing a few days later. alt timeline hurley is evidently some kind of wolfman.

also sun seems to get detained at airports a lot.

phantompenguin, Saturday, 20 February 2010 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

Hurley is a hairy guy. I reckon he could grow them pretty quickly.

Always thought the original Jin and Sun backstory was one of the best, and they've kind of wasted it as a plot point, especially her evil megalomaniac dad. I hope that comes back into play rather than the endless yearning and confused faces they seem confined to these days. That said I don't see the baby being a big deal, the Island and the scriptwriters don't seem remotely interested in it.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Saturday, 20 February 2010 11:09 (sixteen years ago)

maybe kate marries sawyer and takes Ford as her last name, making her the real #15

Man or Austro-Hungarian? (Pillbox), Monday, 22 February 2010 07:53 (sixteen years ago)

According to wikipedia the next ep is a jackback and then the show will diverge from season 1's order.

abanana, Monday, 22 February 2010 11:21 (sixteen years ago)

I'M GONNA JACKBACK
("NOW HOLD UP, MAN!")
I'M GONNA JACKBACK

I hope that comes back into play rather than the endless yearning and confused faces they seem confined to these days.

Hah ha ha, yeah, so true - Sun's possibly the most wasted character on the show

Brakhage, Monday, 22 February 2010 19:06 (sixteen years ago)

It's sad because it seemed like around S4 we'd see a changed, evolved or more evil Sun during the Oceanic 6 storyline, but not much has really come of it. A really wasted opportunity here.

Nhex, Monday, 22 February 2010 19:09 (sixteen years ago)

She is a human reaction shot.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Monday, 22 February 2010 19:12 (sixteen years ago)

If I was the actress I'd be kind of embarrassed to be there at this point ... 'have you seen my husband? oh, he's dead in the past? ok. what, you can take me to him? ok. whatever you say, i have no initiative even though my backstory is replete with references to me standing up for myself'

Brakhage, Monday, 22 February 2010 19:20 (sixteen years ago)

show could use more season 4 Gordon Gekko Sun imo

Man or Austro-Hungarian? (Pillbox), Monday, 22 February 2010 19:29 (sixteen years ago)

otm about sun, she shoulda killed someone and then been "oh shit, Jin is still alive?"

i'm #FFFFFF btw (bnw), Monday, 22 February 2010 19:47 (sixteen years ago)

Sun and Lapidus have only been back on the island for about two days haven't they?

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 22 February 2010 19:54 (sixteen years ago)

I was really dreading Sun refusing to go with Ilana to the temple this last episode.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 22 February 2010 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

Sun and Lapidus have only been back on the island for about two days haven't they?

same amount as jack hurley et al

nitzer ebbebe (gbx), Monday, 22 February 2010 19:57 (sixteen years ago)

not really accurate, there were in the 70s for a while

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

theyyyyyyyyyyyy

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

Same amount of time has passed, though.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:05 (sixteen years ago)

really? the whole season was like a week long!

xp

nitzer ebbebe (gbx), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

whatever it was it wasn't two days

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

just read lostpwdia and while it doesn't state it explicitly, it looks like the time jack and everyone spent in 1977 was no more than three days

shite new answers (cutty), Monday, 22 February 2010 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

I agree that Sun exemplifies some wasted potential but y'all are forgetting her awesome oar-whacking scene where she takes Ben out followed by the "I lied" shrug.

sleeve, Monday, 22 February 2010 21:46 (sixteen years ago)

I'd have a little more respect for her if she beat some answers out of Richard with an oar too

Brakhage, Monday, 22 February 2010 21:55 (sixteen years ago)

it was cool when she shot Pickett's wife. lol Pickett.

mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 22 February 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

Poor Trixie! And yeah, that oar scene was great, tru dat

Nhex, Monday, 22 February 2010 22:08 (sixteen years ago)

It would be really great if the writers start using Sun as a proxy for the viewer by having her run around the island and use oars to beat answers out of people. Especially if she beats Jack into unconsciousness in the process.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:20 (sixteen years ago)

Jack and Kate are Adam and Eve after Sun kills them with an oar.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

^ & xp: can get w/ this idea. Lost writers reading this thread, please write this down.

Man or Austro-Hungarian? (Pillbox), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:23 (sixteen years ago)

its amazing how every character on lost at some point in their life perfected the technique of knocking someone out with one blow. charlie knocks desmond out cooold with an oar at the end of S3. i think kate knocks someone out with a wooden instrument at least once a season

david cam'ron (tpp), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:26 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah last time I tried to knock someone out with an oar I had to hit them five or six times. It was so embarassing.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:33 (sixteen years ago)

haha! rewatching the end of S2 at the moment its a real peak of the show imo. you still have the goofy light-hearted episodes while at the same time the hatch stuff is genuinely mysterious and the introduction of ben is probably the best thing that ever happened to the show. S6 needs more ben!

david cam'ron (tpp), Monday, 22 February 2010 22:51 (sixteen years ago)
