dharma reissue has different track order

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:08 (sixteen years ago)

I wonder if that will ever be explained!

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:09 (sixteen years ago)

new major things we learned:

Smokey seems to be now "stuck" as Locke and monster mode (according to Ilana, who also knows about the temple and it would be nice if someone just asked her more questions)

that's it

a bunch of other stuff suggested but not confirmed as such. seems Ben never actually went to the island in alt world...which could in turn mean that Widmore is still on the island there.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:11 (sixteen years ago)

The island in alt world is all blowed up though.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

Widmore has gills in this timeline

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:14 (sixteen years ago)

NO ONE IN THAT UNIVERSE WILL EVER HEAR THAT WEIRDLY SEQUENCED COPY OF RAW POWER!

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:14 (sixteen years ago)

What do you guys thing the first song on the Dharma version is?

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:19 (sixteen years ago)

I think Dharma chose prog over punk

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:26 (sixteen years ago)

i'd say this was the first episode really obviously based on The Stand

abanana, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:29 (sixteen years ago)

kinda wishing now this thread was titled Lost Season 6: Look Out Honey Cuz I'm Using Technology

Clay, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:32 (sixteen years ago)

I liked the exchange between MIB and Sawyer in the cave about his choices:

Man-in-Locke: You can stay and protect the island.
Sawyer: From what?
Man-in-Locke: Nothing! Definitely not me! I mean, nobody! Nobody and that includes me. Now let's go kill some motherfuckers and destroy the island!

she is writing about love (Jenny), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:35 (sixteen years ago)

I was LOLing hardcore at Ben as a pissy middle-school history teacher.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:38 (sixteen years ago)

loving posi-hurley

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:43 (sixteen years ago)

BTW I think the whole "alternate universe" thing is just preparation for a spin-off show where no one ever goes to the island, it's going to be all about relationships and human emotions and Jack & Kate's on-again, off-again romance and Locke learning to live as a handicapable man etc. without any lame old mystery or intrigue getting in the way.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:48 (sixteen years ago)

i'm thinking smokey has escaped in the sideways timeline and everyone in the world is having their choices controlled by it

abanana, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:51 (sixteen years ago)

incredibly displeased

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

woulda been funnier if that reply was from rob mcelhenney

abanana, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:57 (sixteen years ago)

something about this season has kinda "lost" me

last night's episode was the best for sure but there was stuff i couldn't deal with... the mysterious kid apparition, the "smokey"-cam... it might be a side effect of (re)-watching season 1 right now, which is unfair, but—and I am a fan of latter-day lost—the show feels a little more hollow now, not as varied in its textures and moods as it used to be. it's all people running around intently saying cryptic shit to each other. everyone has the same self-important secret agent vibe.

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:35 (sixteen years ago)

i know the show has ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT in a lot of ways

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:35 (sixteen years ago)

im with you but this has been a problem for a couple seasons now hasnt it? so far this season isnt any worse than last season i dont think

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:42 (sixteen years ago)

maybe it's just the stark contrast of watching 4 eps of s1 last night then the new one at 2am :D

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:42 (sixteen years ago)

i know what you mean and i watched a shit load of s1 last night (on youtube!) but my only beef with last night's was the pace (felt like they were dragging things out and it was too slow moving for what was actually happening ie not much) and i wanted more reveals. Locke's flashalongs didn't do much for me and the Ben reveal could've been better - it kinda sucks for us to see his back turned when it's obvious from his voice that it's him so why not just get straight to it?). but i admit it's probably gonna be difficult for this show to satisfy me for a few more weeks yet.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:43 (sixteen years ago)

i was also kinda amazed they're still throwing in shocking reveal shots of dead locke

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:46 (sixteen years ago)

now that he's buried maybe that'll end

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:46 (sixteen years ago)

i just don't see what they have to lose at this point by richard or smokey or ilana just spending a minute or so actually explaining WHO people are, WHAT they want and WHY instead of the vague cryptic shit. i'm enjoying the character interplay way more than the mystery/questions aspect and think the show can survive on the former primarily at this late a stage.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:48 (sixteen years ago)

i'm wondering if Locke ever met Abbadon now (he was adamant to Helen that miracles don't exist but Abbadon had pointed out that his survival could be considered miraculous itself and you'd think that would've stuck). but if Abbadon hadn't been there to suggest the Walkabout then how did get to that.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:50 (sixteen years ago)

richard doesn't know dick apparently

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:51 (sixteen years ago)

he don't know jack

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:52 (sixteen years ago)

richard has always been kind of hilariously confused or uninformed about stuff considering how long he's been there

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:55 (sixteen years ago)

his default expression is this sort of weird ambiguous wide-eyed surprise

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 14:55 (sixteen years ago)

The little crab scuttling over Locke's face was pretty creepy/effective.

blow it out your bad-taste hole (WmC), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:11 (sixteen years ago)

Hoping that Alpert explains the significance of weirdly sequenced Raw Power LP.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:15 (sixteen years ago)

are you expecting that to be the final huge reveal? the reason they must protect the island?

self-important coozen (bnw), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:18 (sixteen years ago)

probably has something to do with the "raw power" unleashed by the explosion

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:19 (sixteen years ago)

i think claire would then be david bowie and aaron, the shitty mix that nearly killed raw power

self-important coozen (bnw), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

xp Smokey is on a "death trip". He's "searching to destroy" and he "needs somebody" to "penetrate". He's "hard to beat".

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:23 (sixteen years ago)

Okay as soon as I figure out how "shake appeal" applies I think I will have figured the show out. No need to watch the last dozen episodes.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:23 (sixteen years ago)

Did you miss the bit where Fake Locke explained a load of really important shit?

At the end of S5 Ilana mentioned that Lapidus was a candidate as well - presumably crossed off the list now. The successful candidate is so obviously gonna be Jack, although it would awesome if it was Hurley.

Maybe Alt-Locke ended up having a much better life because Jacob wasn't manipulating him? Except in the original timeline Jacob didn't appear until after Locke had fallen out of the window, so no idea.

The hint about Locke being all cool with his dad was potentially important - wonder if this has any bearing on the alternate Sawyer storyline? Maybe the con/parental murder never happened? They've already played on the manipulated lives thing with Desmond and Faraday, wouldn't be surprised if the alt-timeline was them going hard on that in this series.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:23 (sixteen years ago)

"Maybe the con/parental murder never happened?"

Makes no sense. How did he get paralyzed then?

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:25 (sixteen years ago)

Did you miss the bit where Fake Locke explained a load of really important shit?

like what tho? obv he is not to be trusted and it was just his sales pitch to james. smokey kept asking james questions but didn't get any good ones in return, predictably.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:26 (sixteen years ago)

It makes even less sense for Locke to invite his dad to his wedding after being pushed out of a window by him. Also in the original timeline, Helen left Locke because he couldn't get over his obsession with his father.

There are any number of reasons why Locke could have been paralysed in this alternate reality.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:30 (sixteen years ago)

by far the #1 cause of spinal injuries is being thrown out of a building by your dad

self-important coozen (bnw), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:31 (sixteen years ago)

(There's a big hole in my theory which is that Sawyer's parents were already dead by the time the bomb went off in 1977 - maybe that wiped Jacob out of all history or something?)

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:34 (sixteen years ago)

felt kind of bad for locke when he was all, "helen, if you dont want me in a wheelchair, dont marry me, because it will take a miracle for me to walk" and instead of being like "aw locke i love you in a wheelchair or out" she was all "i believe in miracles"

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:40 (sixteen years ago)

hahah

amuse-douche (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:40 (sixteen years ago)

i was disgusted by her 'peace and love' top. maybe there was a Dharma logo on the label.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:42 (sixteen years ago)

well she was wearing a "PEACE AND KARMA" t-shirt
xpost ha

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:42 (sixteen years ago)

But then she tore up Jack's card, the implication being that she believed in miracles AND was cool with Locke using a wheelchair.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:56 (sixteen years ago)

Her "peace and karma" shirt did suck, tho.
