she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 12 February 2010 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

that's a fantastic one! Which setting did you use?

Just the default one. Big help having the right lighting conditions outside. The Hipstamatic Flickr group has some great photos.

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 12 February 2010 21:27 (sixteen years ago)

i've been ignoring the camera apps, but that's great.

The current generation of iPhone camera apps have really become useful. I'm using my phone more now for pictures rather than my regular camera.

who is going to pay $360 per year for NYT ON IPAD?

dnw (cozen), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

nfw. don't think they realise how good safari is ON IPAD. even just in the simulator it's brilliant. what's this going to have that site doesn't?

stet, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 20:01 (sixteen years ago)

i would pay for a guardian one without commentisfree columns or user comments. now that is some added value.

caek, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

> i would pay for a guardian one without commentisfree columns or user comments.

use adblock and block

guardian.co.uk##DIV#pluck-comment-block

(and optionally the following which is all the comment headers and footers)
guardian.co.uk##DIV.pluck-all-comments
guardian.co.uk##DIV#pluck-show-all-comments
guardian.co.uk##DIV#pluck-container
guardian.co.uk##DIV#post-area

koogs, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

haha. i was kind of joking. i just read http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian, which is that morning's paper, and every time i accidentally read a commentisfree piece i'm not allowed sugar in my tea for a week.

caek, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

aren't NYT moving to a paid subscription model soon, or did they scrap that?

richie aprile (rockapads), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 22:14 (sixteen years ago)

.com i mean

richie aprile (rockapads), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 22:14 (sixteen years ago)

oh yea! christ, they won't charge $360 a year for it tho, will they?

stet, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 22:51 (sixteen years ago)

I now cutty said 3GS is great but what's the consensus: is the £100 premium worth it?

a passing heavy daftie (cozen), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 16:23 (sixteen years ago)

wait til june - apparently the new iphone is going to be killer

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ (dyao), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

A++++ says steve jobs

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ (dyao), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah I'm due an upgrade but am waiting. Daft not to at this time of year.

JimD, Tuesday, 23 February 2010 16:30 (sixteen years ago)

stupid as it might sound, I don't think I'll upgrade my iPhone until they make the camera substantially better.

richie aprile (rockapads), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 16:58 (sixteen years ago)

june is far away :(

a passing heavy daftie (cozen), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 18:44 (sixteen years ago)

buying new iphone after 12 months, tho tempting, seems ultimately insane

saaberonixx (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:52 (sixteen years ago)

was going to buy iphone tomorrow (black, 3gs, 16gig) - should I really not? Also, I can get it for 129 quid - if new super duper model comes in June - will it have substantial premium?

problem chimp (Porkpie), Monday, 1 March 2010 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

just bought an iphone today (black, 3G, 8GB) because it was only $50... now hopefully the new data plan won't bankrupt me.

sofatruck, Monday, 1 March 2010 21:48 (sixteen years ago)

Porkpie, the new one will likely be available at the same price the current one is...129 quid seems pretty cheap for one, though, is that with contract?

noted schloar (dyao), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 00:15 (sixteen years ago)

tweetdeck, tweetie, or twitteriffic?

sofatruck, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 16:54 (sixteen years ago)

Tweetie works well for me. Didn't think much of Tweetdeck.

mike t-diva, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 16:58 (sixteen years ago)

Tweetie, but I miss some of the features of Twitteriffic.

Jeff, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 17:06 (sixteen years ago)

tweetie probably easier on the eye for simple use, but tweetdeck is crucial if you want to have keyword searches/alerts, etc.

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 17:07 (sixteen years ago)

Picked up Hipstamatic after seeing Chris Hardwick rave about it on Nerdist.com, played around with it last night:

Enjoying it so far.

My upgrade doesn't come around til August, but I'll probably spring for it. Hopefully I'll be more-than-unemployed and can actually afford such things.

Sex Sexual (kingfish), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:24 (sixteen years ago)

I hated how in tweetdeck it seemed like there were too many ways to do the same function.

Jeff, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

Just bought that hipstamatic app. Awesome!

I don't get it.

etaeoe, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 01:20 (sixteen years ago)

they're trying to shame Apple into approving Opera Mini for the phone. There aren't any other web browsers on the store because the rules say you can't have anything that interprets code, and browers run JavaScript. Opera Mini doesn't run javascript, so there's a chance it'll get in.

Hope it does; Safari is way too slow on gprs and Opera mini was hella fast even on my old Nokia

stet, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 02:35 (sixteen years ago)

Oh I hope it does, I love & use Opera exclusively otherwise.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 24 March 2010 04:07 (sixteen years ago)

reeder 2 is impressive, i'm liking it better than byline.

rafsan (rahni), Monday, 29 March 2010 19:25 (sixteen years ago)

I like it too but the micro sized icons is pissing me off. Also I'd like to know how many unread I have when browsing the unread posts.

Jeff, Monday, 29 March 2010 19:33 (sixteen years ago)

Also, I want more contrast. Changing it to high contrast doesn't make much difference at all.

caek, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 21:23 (sixteen years ago)
