You could say Ky-uh-HO-guh for the river too.

For the record, it's a DIPHTHONG /ay/ so get off my jock, boy.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Haha I just said "jock"

OK thanks, John, the photos totally explain how to pronounce their names.

(Amanda's explanation was thorough and useful so I am just busting John's chops now.)

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:48 (twenty years ago)

You've never met me.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

Or my foundation garments.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

You don't need to know how to pronounce their last names! All I was saying is that the first syllable of "Cuyahoga" is pronounced the same as the first name "Kai." You know, like as in, "From the Frank Stanton Studio in Los Angeles, I'm Kai Ryssdal, and this is Marketplace."

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:50 (twenty years ago)

when you say "foundation garments" i keep getting a mental image of the hipwaders they wear when pouring cement.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:51 (twenty years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

Kai... which could be "Kay" or "Kie" as in "pie," which is a word that everybody, even those of us who don't know the name of the host of Marketplace, knows how to pronounce.

You write SAT questions, don't you?

(Cobra Verde was actually the first thing I thought of, too.)

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

Cobra... PIE?

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

BTW, I suppose I should have mentioned this: CoBrA MaN is funny nerd-esque hip hop, like a lo-fi Handsome Boy Modeling School or maybe a white Dr. Octagon? Most important, that track has a sing-along chorus.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:14 (twenty years ago)

I am in Minnesota.

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:16 (twenty years ago)

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Hey Dan, I'm not actually authorized to do that, not being even 1/8 bro, myself. Don't cry.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:22 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of bros, who wants to get a beer after work? I need some quality Chicago time.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:22 (twenty years ago)

I can't believe that *I* was the one to make the GI Joe reference. SRSLY.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:22 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of bros, who wants to get a beer after work? I need some quality Chicago time.

Eh? You're not here, are you?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:23 (twenty years ago)

it's about hipwaders isn't it. sock it to me!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:25 (twenty years ago)

We need to teleconference some beers with Laurel. Amanda, wear your outfit.

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:26 (twenty years ago)

It's about leather clothing. See, I have this skirt. It's suede, turquoise, short and buttons up the front. A-line (swingy, not tight) but short, about mid-thigh.

1) is it gauche to wear leather skirts? is it gross?
2) turquoise suede - gross?
3) the cut of the skirt is nice and it hangs well, but I am sort of afraid of wearing it out on account of some nasty looks I got the last time I wore it

Is it acceptable to wear a short, turquoise suede skirt that buttons up the front?

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:29 (twenty years ago)

I mean -- leather clothing: is it gross?
