Sawyer has pretty consistently had a shitter time than anyone on the Island, except maybe Sayid. Although he had that happy three years with Juliet which admittedly is way, way longer than all the action we've actually seen on screen.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:22 (sixteen years ago)

Sawyer was a stone pimp all cool and in control with occasional moments of being tortured or w/e during the first couple seasons

da Condom FATHER (some dude), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:23 (sixteen years ago)

up until being put in a cage (where he got LAID) most of the trouble he got into on the island was his own doing and sometimes he even seemed to welcome it

da Condom FATHER (some dude), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:24 (sixteen years ago)

ben has had a pretty bad time, even if he is an evil asshole. abusive dad, daughter shot dead in front of him, beaten to a pulp numerous times, deposed as leader of the others etc

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

also had to toss hundreds of bodies into a mass grave after going to the trouble of gassing them

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

Locke didn't even tell anyone he saw Claire in the cabin right?

The infection thing is bugging me a lot because presumably the unclear water caused it (otherwise why would Lennon mention it?) but they carried on regardless. And if their intention was to save Sayid as instructed by Jacob via Hurley, why were they surprised when he did come back to life? And why would they then ignore Jacob's wishes and try and kill him again (like 'oh he's infected and Jacob definitely wouldn't want that'). Argh.

mdskltr (blueski), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:27 (sixteen years ago)

I don't think the water caused it, I think they didn't know why the water was unclear but surely it was cos Jacob is dead? And hence saving him didn't work.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:35 (sixteen years ago)

Are they setting up possession after death by MIB as 'the infection'? Maybe the panic on the part of the Others stems from the fact that Sayid is one of the people selected by Jacob, and if he's infected/possessed/undead he'll screw up Jacob's plan in some way?

Brakhage, Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

Wondering if had they known that Jacob was dead, they wouldn't have attempted to drown/heal Sayid as well

Brakhage, Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:45 (sixteen years ago)

Has Jacob exhibited smokey-powers ever? He seemed to get killed just like a regular dude. Or was that a special knife?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 11 February 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

yeah ever since his big reveal in s5 finale i've suspected more and more that jacob is just some guy who is only special for knowing so much of the going-on's of the island. which i guess makes him cuse+lindelof. well played, lost.

phantompenguin, Thursday, 11 February 2010 22:18 (sixteen years ago)

killed like a regular dude who lives forever and travels through time, i guess xp

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Thursday, 11 February 2010 23:09 (sixteen years ago)

doesn't everyone on the island live forever? (unlessing they don't get themselves shivved)

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 11 February 2010 23:23 (sixteen years ago)

has anyone noticed that Desmond had a red mark on his neck in a scene in Season 2? He's getting ready for a job interview with Widmore and Penny points it out. THink he fell during one of his visions while painting a room or something.

sofatruck, Thursday, 11 February 2010 23:36 (sixteen years ago)

xxxpost-- I'm sure I remember a scene where Jack or someone tells Sawyer that Locke died. Sawyer asked about him because he was waiting for him to return.

President Keyes, Thursday, 11 February 2010 23:54 (sixteen years ago)

xp "He wakes up lying on a wood floor with what looks like blood all over him. He looks around and sees a spilled can of red paint and a fallen ladder. Penny runs over to him and asks if he's okay. He realizes that they are in his old flat in the past. Delighted to be back with Penny, he kisses and embraces her." -lostpedia

lostpedia also has a helpful image of desmond lying on the floor splattered with red paint. From the context of the episode the use of red there seems more like a general foreshadowing of death/bad things, whereas Jack's cut seems to be alluding to something more specific.

I thought this was a quote from an old text adventure game at first

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Friday, 12 February 2010 00:51 (sixteen years ago)

go north.

god damn why isn't that a real game?

phantompenguin, Friday, 12 February 2010 03:18 (sixteen years ago)

The main problems with this episode were Claire's janky wigs. Mercy.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Friday, 12 February 2010 04:41 (sixteen years ago)

has it been suggested yet that the jacob that told hurley to take sayid to the temple was maybe the MIB? and that "infecting" sayid within the walls of the temple was maybe an easier way for him to get in because of the circle of ash or whatever?

international slackness (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Friday, 12 February 2010 08:28 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah I thought that might be the case.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Friday, 12 February 2010 09:42 (sixteen years ago)

Too complicated.

or Desmond has 'infected' off island Jack.

sofatruck, Friday, 12 February 2010 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

oops wrong quotes there.

sofatruck, Friday, 12 February 2010 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

pretend those are italics

sofatruck, Friday, 12 February 2010 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

Too complicated.

As if that would ever stop them from something ridiculous!

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Friday, 12 February 2010 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

not just complicated but really fucking stupid. i guess that wouldn't stop them either.

mdskltr (blueski), Friday, 12 February 2010 18:05 (sixteen years ago)

Since it's been established that MIB can imitate people who have died or are corpses on-island, it makes total sense. (Can the audience handle MIB possessing two people simultaneously though? That would be what would stop me as one of the writers, it's too confusing, like you say. But I've been wrong before.)

Brakhage, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:17 (sixteen years ago)

I really don't think it's the case. 1) Because it is silly and needlessly overcomplicated and 2)because they were setting up this specific Jacob angle since last season with the guitar case and Hurley's reason for coming. Though of course, lol at it being just an ankh with another list inside.

Nhex, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:20 (sixteen years ago)

I am glad they're finally tackling 'the sickness' though, even though I can't see where it's going. It must be related to MIB and possession in some way ('claimed'). Yeah, the guitar case was a major disappointment! I feel for Hurley lugging that huge thing around when all they needed was a slip of paper.

Brakhage, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:34 (sixteen years ago)

I hope the sickness is tied somehow into the broken statue and the whole pregnancy/kidnapping angle, and that gets a good explanation and back story.

Nhex, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

we can dream, huh? couldn't help but laugh at Locke/Smokey in the previews saying "I promise I'll tell you everything", yeah right.

rewatched "What Kate Does" after initially not wanting to, I was glad I did. Lots of cringeworthy stuff and minimal plot advamcement, but a lot of interesting character development that suggests very different directions for all of the main folks this season - Hurley as leader, Jack as doubter, Kate as something less than pathologically narcissistic, Sawyer as more or less honest and ethical dude, Sayid as um the claimed one. No idea where Sun/Jin is going (probably an episode will follow in the same sequence as S1).

scene where Aldo angrily confronted Kate was my favorite by far. the whole Lennon/Dogen thing seems intensely annoying to me right now but I am hoping Dogen's backstory makes up for it.

sleeve, Friday, 12 February 2010 22:28 (sixteen years ago)

Kate as something less than pathologically narcissistic

where???

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Friday, 12 February 2010 22:45 (sixteen years ago)

in the new scenes with Claire in 2004 and also there was something new/interesting about how she was relating to Sawyer in 2007, asking about Juliet.

2nd time around I also noticed the fetching black and white color scheme on the plush orca doll.

sleeve, Friday, 12 February 2010 22:52 (sixteen years ago)

i mostly assumed she was asking about juliet so that she could figure out her chances w/ sawyer.... and that she was being nice to claire so that clare would b eless likely to turn her in.

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Friday, 12 February 2010 22:53 (sixteen years ago)

*be less

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Friday, 12 February 2010 22:53 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I could definitely see that, it just seemed like it was left open that she might actually have been thinking about other people for once.

sleeve, Friday, 12 February 2010 22:55 (sixteen years ago)

I can't remember but did all the Lost dudes except Hurley do the exact opposite of the advice Jacob gave them?

Philip Nunez, Friday, 12 February 2010 22:56 (sixteen years ago)

well he just asked Sayid what time it was, no advice there.

sleeve, Friday, 12 February 2010 22:58 (sixteen years ago)

oh come on, clearly asking the time is a wakeup call to evaluate yr life and realize it's ~time~ to go back

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Friday, 12 February 2010 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

Apparently Kate can never be the only sexy available chick on the show. Boone's useless sister -> Ana Lucia -> Nikki -> Juliet -> Claire.

abanana, Saturday, 13 February 2010 03:52 (sixteen years ago)

It seems like the main character of each episode is going to have their wishes come true in the new timeline. First ep: Jack wanted to have the plane crash never happen. 2nd ep: Kate wants to reunite Claire and Aaron.

abanana, Saturday, 13 February 2010 03:57 (sixteen years ago)

hurley gets to eat that hot pocket instead of throwing it at the wall

DJ NAIR (tehresa), Saturday, 13 February 2010 04:06 (sixteen years ago)

Fake Locke is sexy, says my mum.

The reverse TARDIS of pasta (Niles Caulder), Saturday, 13 February 2010 04:14 (sixteen years ago)

I might've been confused when watching, but it seemed like Ethan called Claire's baby Aaron without being told that's what its name was going to be. Did anyone else catch this or am I just making it up?

Mister Jim, Saturday, 13 February 2010 04:35 (sixteen years ago)

hurley gets to eat that hot pocket instead of throwing it at the wall

Genuine LOL here.

El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Saturday, 13 February 2010 04:44 (sixteen years ago)

Claire called him Aaron first.
