I don't like the Shreddies ad - trying too hard to think of wacky concept to explain how they're made. Like that Coca-Cola bottle advert. Cease this shallow pretense you additive-peddling con artistes.

I know what you mean but there's something about knitting a shreddie that just makes me smile. Also I like to eat shreddies so I'm biased towards it already. They could have an ad with "Buy a packet of shreddies" on the screen for 10 seconds and I'd still go, 'good ad, I think I will'.

Can't stop singing the "April Showers" tune in my head now - aaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 June 2007 11:39 (eighteen years ago)

> The Skoda 'cake' one was good the first few times but has started annoying me.

the two bits of genius in this advert are the golden syrup 'oil' and the wobbly jelly tail-lights.

koogs, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 11:52 (eighteen years ago)

something annoys the shit out of me on that skoda advert, and i don't know what. it's got something to do with the smart arse looks off the people at the end.

Ste, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

in fact. that's exactly it.

Ste, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

zoe that storage ad is none other than dougal wilson

^@^, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

Finally Volvic have made a water ad I like. The Volcano vs Alan the T-Rex are just daft enough to make me smile!

Much better than the Evian Busby Berkeley Babies. It struck me that to remove the genitalia on all these babies, some ad exec would have had to concentrate on these areas for a couple of days in an FX suite, which make sit all the more creepy.

Pete, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)

if you made a Skoda cake you are entitled to feel pleased with yourself. kudos to them i say.

of course it makes you think 'must eat cake' rather than 'must buy Skoda' but i'm sure they realised that.

blueski, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

i like the Volvic ad but who is that? Alex Armstrong?

blueski, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

Who is the volcano supposed to be? A kind of cross between Brian Blessed and James Mason?

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, cool - thanks! Have found it on YouTube now. I wish the tide bit went on for longer. It makes me feel calm about the thought of house-moving.

xpost

The Skoda cake one ignites western guilt in me! I do hope it was eaten after.

Zoe Espera, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

Who is the volcano supposed to be? A kind of cross between Brian Blessed and James Mason?

Surely he's the dude from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, no?

Matt Berry is his name, IMDB reveals.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

I mean of the dude in Darkplace. I don't know if the volcano voice is him. I like that ad as well.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

So who's the dude from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace supposed to be?

Tom D., Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

> i like the Volvic ad but who is that? Alex Armstrong?

it's the zoo owner from boosh.

koogs, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 14:22 (eighteen years ago)

but the volvic advert annoys me due to their careful use of language - there's a very obvious fudge word in there so that they aren't implying that volvic makes you alert.

it also sucks because it's an ad for water.

koogs, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

it's the zoo owner from boosh.

ah yes - not the US zookeeper but the other guy right? i think he also appeared in Roman's Empire WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DID NOT WATCH THAT?

blueski, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

dixon bainbridge. i think he owns the zoo and that bob fossil only runs it in his absence.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/04_april/28/mighty_boosh.shtml

"Together, Vince and Howard continually battle against the owner of the Zoo-niverse – Dixon Bainbridge (Matt Berry) - and his manager Bob Fossil (Rich Fulcher)."

koogs, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

Right. Matt Berry. I forgot he was in Teh Boosh.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

For some reason the Chicks With Swords made me lose my shit:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vbEMdrAjSvk

I think it has a lot to do with the "I'm totally going to masturbate now" look on the guy's face.

eight months pass...

i just love that commercial for the pizza bites or whatever, where the mom's in the kitchen and she takes the bites out of the oven, and then a hand comes through the wall and grabs the plate and a voice goes "thanks mom!"

okay i know it's a weird one to love but the mom is FUNNY

I love the singing Jack Russel Polo advert and the chocolate Lynx man.

czn, Thursday, 13 March 2008 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Chocolate Lynx man disturbs me. Have you noticed they've changed that advert, they taken out the bit in the cinema with the Chocolate Man and the two girls, which always struck me as being a bit pervy

Tom D., Thursday, 13 March 2008 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

surmounter that pizza bite woman has been in like a million things, right? i just cant remember what.

sunny successor, Thursday, 13 March 2008 18:01 (eighteen years ago)
