haha! people just HATE it when the plot slows down
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)
dumb episode, further proof that kate episodes are fuckin worthless
― max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)
Kate's funniest lines: "You'd better not slow ME down!" and the VERY CONVINCING "I can be very convincing when I wanna be"
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:06 (sixteen years ago)
yeah it was a weak episode but at least Mac was back
― congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:08 (sixteen years ago)
also the dude traveling with mac was an IDIOT
― max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:09 (sixteen years ago)
I love that they bring back Mac, after three seasons ago from a tiny part, have him complain to another character about those events, and then shoot him in the head at the end of the episode. Classic Lost!
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:11 (sixteen years ago)
he's the Others' Frogurt.
has kate even mentioned to sawyer that she's met his daughter? I mean the guy is about to go jump off a cliff, would think that she could at least remind him that he's still got a bit more to live for. stupid selfish kate "whaaa come help me look for claire."
― Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:12 (sixteen years ago)
Kate's funniest lines: "You'd better not slow ME down!"
Haha, I turned to my wife and said, "No, YOU'RE a jerk!"
― El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:14 (sixteen years ago)
Sayid sounded more British after being infected.
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:17 (sixteen years ago)
FINAL proof! there can be no further argument.
― international slackness (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:00 (sixteen years ago)
we should all celebrate, surely we have seen THE LAST KATE-CENTRIC EPISODE, EVER?
Except she hasn't been re-arrested/had her name cleared off-island so we still probably have to suffer a bit more.
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:07 (sixteen years ago)
Maybe we learn that in the alternate reality, all the 815ers die gruesome deaths and getting stuck on the island was the best possible scenario
― mh, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:11 (sixteen years ago)
Final Destination XVII: L O S T
― Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:16 (sixteen years ago)
do we know if kate is actually guilty in the alternate reality?
― david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:19 (sixteen years ago)
There was a video released at ComicCon that I think is linked upthread somewhere showing her on America's Most Wanted, because she rigged her dad's workplace to blow up, and his coworker got to work first that day? Anyone remember if Kate ever said she was innocent before, or was her conversation with Claire the first time we see her say that?
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:21 (sixteen years ago)
She didn't say she was innocent. She said "What would you say if I told you I was innocent?"
― WmC, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:28 (sixteen years ago)
Ah, fair enough. Did she say that before?
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:38 (sixteen years ago)
"What would you say if I told you I was innocent?"
more clunky dialogue ugh
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:41 (sixteen years ago)
my brain hurts trying to work out all the timelines/characters now that it's all coming together. next episode looks good. the last time Sawyer saw Locke was when he jumped down the well to stop the time-jumps, right?
and I'm trying to work out Ben's relationship to Dogen and the Temple Others, esp since the 815 kids are there. former Leader? still Leader? its hard to remember Badass Ben now that he's FLocke's lil biatch
― Fahrvergnügent (herb albert), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:47 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think Ben's Others and Dogen's Others are the same group...?
― WmC, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:49 (sixteen years ago)
I mean, never were...? I dunno.
theres gotta be some relationship, since aldo is in both
― max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:54 (sixteen years ago)
they must have had some overlap. but it does seem like no way could all of these people have fitted into Otherville (and i'm guessing Dogen never spent any time there shooting pool with Goodwin or whatever).
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 16:56 (sixteen years ago)
they are all one group, Ben told Alex, Rousseau and Karl to go to the temple, in the episode Karl & Rousseau bit the big ones..
also from lostpedia:In "Left Behind" the Others abandoned The Barracks, traveling across the Island on foot to The Temple. In "The Brig" Ben tells Locke that they are "going to a new place. Well an old place actually". This is the first mention of the temple. At the conclusion of Season 3, Ben asked Richard to continue to take the rest of the group to the Temple while he and Alex attempted to intercept the survivors before their arrival at the radio tower. ("Through the Looking Glass")

the absurdity of characters making wholly irrational decisions just because they 'sense a connection,' eg claire befriending the crazy gun wielding convict, makes me a little uneasy. i know its lost, but the alt reality, at least it was portrayed in this ep, seems a little too surreal and far fetched for me to swallow.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:28 (sixteen years ago)
you mean claire the girl who shacked up with and trusted her newborn with a recovering junkie?
― some dude, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:29 (sixteen years ago)
Or agreeing to jet off to LA because of what a psychic told her?
― El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:31 (sixteen years ago)
Re: Ethan
yeah but he's Horace's stepson iirc.
― President Keyes, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:32 (sixteen years ago)
xpost oh right maybe it's not alt reality that sucks so much as claire. actually, a friend and i agreed while watching that we'd forgotten how dumb claire is.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

If this intuition were consistent, then Kate & Claire both would have freaked when Ethan showed up.
― President Keyes, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:34 (sixteen years ago)
you're right, but i cling to the theory because it's the only way i can think of to rationalize claire's actions.
― phantompenguin, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:37 (sixteen years ago)
one of the clips from next week showed Sawyer meeting Fake Locke, so I'm glad that they're bringing those 2 groups/storylines together sooner than later.
i hope so! i think it will make it more interesting because there will be CONFRONTATION with smokey/locke/etc. also, we haven't mentioned how jin was like 'hold up, my wife who i haven't seen in years and thought i might never see again is probably HERE - where do you think she might be?' and kate was all 'not interested, gotta go make more rash, stupid moves!' what a fucking waste of human!!!!
I didn't think that was too far-fetched - Claire was waiting for a bus right? I could see her trying to get a cab or something but being unable to since she didn't have any money on her and it's not like she knew her way around or anything. the stupid thing was her going with Kate after that, wtf.
what i don't get is why she didn't try to flag down a COP. instead she's like 'oh these people stood me up at the airport i'll just take a bus to their house! nevermind i just got hijacked and all my shit stolen.' i mean... to be picky, she didn't even wait at the airport that long... all the other passengers were still making their way out. how did she know they weren't just late to come get her? did she try, i dunno, calling them? stupid, stupid girls.

yeah this was the fucking pits--made absolutely NO sense
― max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:46 (sixteen years ago)
tbf Kate is just doing what the rest of us would re not giving a fuck about Jin and Sun at this point
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:50 (sixteen years ago)
dude i'd so much rather see a jin and sun reunion than more of kate doing idiotic things.
― bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:52 (sixteen years ago)
yeah jesus on the "stuff in lost i dont give a fuck about" list, #1 is "kates relationship with sawyer" followed closely by "#2 kates relationship with jack" and then "sun and jin" is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY down the list
― max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 17:54 (sixteen years ago)
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYLT

did the torture test of sayid make sense re: smokey? I dungeddit.
― bnw, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:37 (sixteen years ago)
yeah you'd think blowing the ash on Sayid would have done something if he is indeed smokey.. Can't remember if it was canon or theorizing that I have heard Smokey referred to as being an electro-magnetic something? Maybe because he seemed to be kept out by the giant pylon wall the Others built.. and why didn't Sayid heal up instantly when branded with the poker, etc? It really did seem that he HAD passed the tests..
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:45 (sixteen years ago)
they didn't say he is smokey, they said he has the sickness
― sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:48 (sixteen years ago)
don't conflate the two lost mysteries
I think the confusion is enhanced by the fact that lennon wasn't even 100% sure of what he'd told sayid.
― bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:49 (sixteen years ago)
oh I guess they didn’t call him smokey.. Whooops. Then why the ash test?
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)
that's because lennon doesn't even speak japanese
― sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)
Sayid and Claire have been infected by a "darkness" that radically alters their personality, in the same way Rousseau's team had been.
― Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:52 (sixteen years ago)
Maybe there's more than one smokey. like the one that polluted the healing water could be a different smokey than locke-smokey.
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:52 (sixteen years ago)
I just assumed Smokey could break into many little pieces and be as many people/puffs of smoke as he wanted.. I think we have seen the smoke in several pieces..
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:56 (sixteen years ago)
It seems weird that locke-smokey would need to possess people when he can just mimic them outright. This disease-smokey could be some kind of smokey baby that hasn't learned to do that yet perhaps?
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 19:06 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think the disease and smokey are the same thing.
