SMALL BONES, SMALL BODIES (jjjusten), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:27 (sixteen years ago)

hey the ny times calls him lennon, too! also lol at post title.

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:42 (sixteen years ago)

i call him sol

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:43 (sixteen years ago)

the actual character's name is Lennon -- or at least when the reran the 2nd half of LA X tonight the little pop-up video captions at the bottom of the scene referred to him as Lennon

Busty Oralizer (some dude), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:49 (sixteen years ago)

wow that seems really odd!
maybe lennon never got shot in alt reality but instead ended up on a weird island. where is yoko?

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:51 (sixteen years ago)

and also became american?

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:52 (sixteen years ago)

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Lennon/Theories

He is in fact the former Beatle, John Lennon, who somehow survived his apparent death in 1980.

* He is not John Lennon. An homage to him, possibly. But it's not him.
* In Lost, everything is possible

Clay, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:02 (sixteen years ago)

*Based on his appearance, Lennon was original a member of DHARMA before becoming an Other.
^^^after the beatles broke up, john lennon was distraught and joined the dharma initiative in search of a more fulfilling life.

*His close pairing with a strong Japanese personality (Dogen) might be another homage, and the original reason for it.
^^^dogen = yoko

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:06 (sixteen years ago)

i mean come on lennon loved india ---> dharma ---> it's totally obvious.

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:07 (sixteen years ago)

has this been brought up before?

The main character Jack was originally going to die in the pilot, and was hoped to be played by Michael Keaton; however, ABC executives were adamant that Jack live.

if only :(

bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:16 (sixteen years ago)

Wow, weird that Ben wasn't meant to be a main character.
In today's episode did Lennon say that Dogen didn't have a sense of humour or did he mean Jack?

Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:23 (sixteen years ago)

That episode had almost all of Lost's worst elements.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:29 (sixteen years ago)

nice to see the losties using their traditional "too stupid to live" approach in everyday life, too. kate escapes captivity by the skin of her teeth, risking everything, then goes back to claire even though if claire had any sense she'd be talking to the police about the attempted carjacking she just went through. and then claire goes traipsing around with the crazy woman with a gun, because surely it's sensible to give her the benefit of the doubt.

plus the jack plotline contained maybe two minutes of actual material, stretched out to fifteen minutes by all the dramatic line readings.

we are too good to live in squalor (reddening), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:04 (sixteen years ago)

It was Jack he was refering to, but I can't remember the context that makes me think that.

nickn, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:17 (sixteen years ago)

I'm the only person who enjoyed this then? Maybe because the whole episode I kept going "oh (character name), you moron."

Also DR. ARTZ! I think it's his luggage that Kate's cab runs over.

lol'd at Sawyer's "why not? he's an Iraqi torturer and shoots kids, he deserves another go round." and Miles + Hurley questioning Sayid abt death.

Anyway, they've already said that the two timelines are prob going to converge at some point so I kinda liked all the parallels w season 1 - Kate and Ethan help Claire give birth as they did on the island, Claire presumably ends up keeping her baby...

So... 815 took off on a slightly different date?

Not even clear that it's even Oceanic 815 - can't remember if they mentioned the flight number in the first ep?

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:26 (sixteen years ago)

naw, I dug it!

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:46 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i enjoyed this. this things that are bad just make me lol now.
love these idiotic characters walking around following their ridiculous impulses!

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:47 (sixteen years ago)

really wondering whether this alternate timeline is actually going anywhere

i kno its L O S T but the idea two alternate universes 'converging' makes NO SENSE to me and i'm male n' all

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:50 (sixteen years ago)

As an Other, he also appears to hold different ideals than John Lennon, not really minding when ordered to kill a group of wandering strangers.

looooooooool

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:56 (sixteen years ago)

i kno its L O S T but the idea two alternate universes 'converging' makes NO SENSE to me and i'm male n' all

ha yeah me neither tbh but i'm just rolling with it. Just going by this episode, I imagine everything that happened on the island that can happen off-island will happen ("whatever happens, happens" rule?) even though it's totally crazy because it means at some point, michael will kill libby and ana-lucia all over again, or maybe ben goes into jack's hospital and jack ends up fixing him, and somehow they'll all end up on the island?

i'm probably reading this whole thing wrongly, i dunno.

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:05 (sixteen years ago)

apparently they have people read the scripts and rate them? and this one was the lowest rated? so that's good.

international slackness (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:05 (sixteen years ago)

"i'm jacking this cab, gimme your purse! i'm keeping the luggage!"
"hayyy-ayy, sorry bout that, here's your luggage back and junk. need a ride, pregnant lady i just cabjacked and stole from?"
"sure, i'll accompany you on a journey of discovery and wonder and childbirth!"

international slackness (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:06 (sixteen years ago)

IT WAS SO BAD. i mean, the kate parts.

international slackness (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:07 (sixteen years ago)

ahhahahaha its midday and i've watched lost so now life feels pointless.
wish someone would run off so i could go and get them back.

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:08 (sixteen years ago)

it's totally crazy because it means at some point, michael will kill libby and ana-lucia all over again

something like this could be cool but what determines whether an event was important enough for it to happen in both timelines?
will hurley beat sawyer at table tennis? will nikki and paulo be buried alive? will kate go for a bite to eat and see the horse again?

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:16 (sixteen years ago)

maybe somehow they will end up on the island and by some weird time jumping shit it all loops round to the very first episode

david cam'ron (tpp), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:18 (sixteen years ago)

yeah really this sucked. why the fuck would Claire accept the ride from Kate? one of just too many stupid things. was hoping that with 16 episodes of a final season left they'd avoid something this aimless. the dragging out of Jack/John&Yoko/Sayid stuff was also frustrating. Jack asking what the baseball was...wish Dogen had just said OH FUCK OFF.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:20 (sixteen years ago)

Dr. Ethan Goodspeed

This struck me as weird when he said it, since his name on the island was "Ethan Rom" and "Goodspeed" was Horace's last name.

El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:22 (sixteen years ago)

yeah but he's Horace's stepson iirc. so presumably he was born on the island still and left on the sub just before the bomb.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:24 (sixteen years ago)

one of the clips from next week showed Sawyer meeting Fake Locke, so I'm glad that they're bringing those 2 groups/storylines together sooner than later.

Busty Oralizer (some dude), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:59 (sixteen years ago)

why the fuck would Claire accept the ride from Kate?

the question isn't why claire would accept the ride from kate, because that can be explained through some kind of intuition that she felt she already knew kate some how.

the question is why the fuck was claire still standing in the same spot, in what must have been AT LEAST 30-45 minutes later. she had to have her handcuffs taken off, then cry about her life, then go through claire's belongings to find stuff, then cry more...

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:11 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that part confused me, i think i missed something after a commercial break before that so i wasn't sure if there'd been some scene where Kate found Claire's phone number in her purse or something and called her to meet or something.

some dude, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:18 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't think that was too far-fetched - Claire was waiting for a bus right? I could see her trying to get a cab or something but being unable to since she didn't have any money on her and it's not like she knew her way around or anything. the stupid thing was her going with Kate after that, wtf.

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:25 (sixteen years ago)

because that can be explained through some kind of intuition that she felt she already knew kate some how.

uh, really? not even "please leave me alone, insane woman with gun"?

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:27 (sixteen years ago)

uh, yeah? it's what the writers are trying to do with these characters. jack/desmond, and now claire calling the BAY-BE aaron.

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:29 (sixteen years ago)

yeah but he's Horace's stepson iirc. so presumably he was born on the island still and left on the sub just before the bomb.

was young Ben on this sub? I don't really remember.

Kinda looking forward to maybe seeing alternate timeline Ben, I'm wondering what someone like him would be doing in the real world

peter in montreal, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:30 (sixteen years ago)

i think the worst bit was after after that... the whole "would you come in with me?" part. "Would you please follow me, gun-toting thief chick into this stranger who is going to adopt my baby's house?" xp

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:32 (sixteen years ago)

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

DamonLindelof For those of you complaining of "filler." Seriously. PLEASE WATCH NCIS: LOS ANGELES. I promise not to hold it against you. about 11 hours ago from web

lol ok lindelof

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 13:53 (sixteen years ago)

haha! people just HATE it when the plot slows down

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

dumb episode, further proof that kate episodes are fuckin worthless

max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

Kate's funniest lines: "You'd better not slow ME down!" and the VERY CONVINCING "I can be very convincing when I wanna be"

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

yeah it was a weak episode but at least Mac was back

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:08 (sixteen years ago)

also the dude traveling with mac was an IDIOT

max, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:09 (sixteen years ago)

I love that they bring back Mac, after three seasons ago from a tiny part, have him complain to another character about those events, and then shoot him in the head at the end of the episode. Classic Lost!

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:11 (sixteen years ago)

he's the Others' Frogurt.

has kate even mentioned to sawyer that she's met his daughter? I mean the guy is about to go jump off a cliff, would think that she could at least remind him that he's still got a bit more to live for. stupid selfish kate "whaaa come help me look for claire."

Roz, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:12 (sixteen years ago)

Kate's funniest lines: "You'd better not slow ME down!"

Haha, I turned to my wife and said, "No, YOU'RE a jerk!"

El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:14 (sixteen years ago)

Sayid sounded more British after being infected.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 14:17 (sixteen years ago)

dumb episode, further proof that kate episodes are fuckin worthless

FINAL proof! there can be no further argument.
