also, lest we all forget: wau (linked because hueg) - don't get me wrong, ws 4 sure, but she does look like an enlarged elf. Goth Claire, on the other hand..
― Screeching Weerasethakul (Pillbox), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 18:30 (sixteen years ago)
I like all the TS nonsense re: the people on this show, as if the vast majority of them aren't actually the hottest human beings on the planet (esp. the women)

Naomi still hottiest
― mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 19:19 (sixteen years ago)
How much I enjoy a show usually has very little to do with how hot the actors and actresses are, but I suspect that makes me somewhat unusual.

It's never primarily why I like a show, but hot chix r hot and I am dude, sooo

at least the producers know that the show is just OTT...which seems like the show's main strength? like it just assaults you with ridiculous nonsense but yr willing to roll with it cuz, you know, it's fun
...which seems like the show's main strength? like it just assaults you with ridiculous nonsense but yr willing to roll with it cuz, you know, it's fun
i actually heard an interview where they praised the actors for embracing how ott the writing/characters are. like... they openly admitted this shit is ridiculous and silly and said it only works because the acting is so great. lol.
― bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 20:19 (sixteen years ago)
"LaFleur" was one of the show's best episodes.
yes!

A likely extra on the eventual 6-season DVD box set.

I wish this were not real and was some in-show Mr. Clucksesque viral ad instead.

Sawyer is awesome. Juliet mostly lame after her moral ambiguity evaporated so I'm glad they killed her.
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 23:31 (sixteen years ago)
definitely prefer take-charge Juliet heroic action to Kate stuff in the same seasons, though her character was best in S3
― Nhex, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 23:40 (sixteen years ago)
itunes currently offering the first two episodes of s1 for free
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 00:20 (sixteen years ago)
actually doing this because my laptop would never play my s1 boxset DVDs

Every episode is up on Hulu anyway, and everything but the current season is streaming on Netflix.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 00:38 (sixteen years ago)
oh this might be UK only anyway idk
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 00:40 (sixteen years ago)
Something is neat about actors pretending to be themselves several years ago.
― mh, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 01:11 (sixteen years ago)
Definitely! I love how wide-eyed everybody seems compared to the last several seasons of crazy ass time-traveling, getting shot and mauled by polar bears and smoke monsters. Being more cleaned up helps the effect too.
Caught of a bit of LA X pt. 2 repeat just now. One detail I really liked was right before Kate convinced the Marshall to let her use the bathroom by gazing into his eyes and calling by his first name, Edward... classic manipulative evil Kate!
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 01:22 (sixteen years ago)
shit, what did he say, just before the commercial break? stonered glasses dude says "________________?", and the mystical asian guy says "Yes."

loving Kate's constant rebellion and cheating of the system is getting smacked down
― mh, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 02:47 (sixteen years ago)
this one kinda sucked in a predictable 'third episode of the season' way
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 03:02 (sixteen years ago)
Ooh, I enjoyed this one. Or maybe I just greatly preferred tales of sympathetic nu-Kate to old Kate. Dr. Ethan Goodspeed! Jack kinda losing it and laughing at his own questions answered with stupid responses ("What's that?" "A baseball.") was great. Loved that last twist too - it totally makes sense for the show, though I didn't see it coming - that Claire would come back as Rousseau Redux. Possibly Smokey-infected too, though she didn't look at all similar to the way she did the last time we saw her at the end of season 4.

― SMALL BONES, SMALL BODIES (jjjusten), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 03:07 (sixteen years ago)
watched it live via justin.tv. kinda worth it for the advert where a bear catches iphone-like devices leaping salmon-like from the stream.

Dogen on the typewriter was funny
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 03:12 (sixteen years ago)
Really hope there isn't another episode focusing on Kate. This really needed more Richard, Flocke and Ben but it looks like they are going to make up for that in a big way next week. Dogen is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters.

Q: Was there other people who showed up off the island besides Ethan? I thought I recognized an other.

do you mean other people or OTHER people?
― WmC, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 04:49 (sixteen years ago)
specifically I mean the guy who broke Kate's cuffs and the lady that was gonna buy Claire's baby. were they characters that were ever on the island
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 05:47 (sixteen years ago)
weak episode. too much crying :P
― bnw, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 05:51 (sixteen years ago)
I thought the mechanic guy was gonna be Tom Friendly, lol.Spooky Ethan and the flatlining baby! Glad they got the Kate episode out of the way early. Her fake name (Joan Hart) has gotta be some reference to Melissa Joan Hart, aka Sabrina the Teenage Witch, whose aunt plays Kate's mum.

― bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:08 (sixteen years ago)
loved ethan's 'i don't want to stick you with any more needles than i have to' line!
Oh apparentlyTania Kahale, who played Veronica, Aaron's nanny, in "Eggtown", appears in this episode as the admitting nurse. It is possible that this is the same character in the alternate timeline.
Also: Lostpedia says the ultrasound was taken on October 22, 2004 at 9:29am. So... 815 took off on a slightly different date?
― Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:10 (sixteen years ago)
so (way out on a limb here) i have the sneaking suspicion that the woman who was going to buy claires baby was the woman in the painting that looked like juliet/ben is obsessed with, so (???) maybe ben is the estranged husband?
― SMALL BONES, SMALL BODIES (jjjusten), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:16 (sixteen years ago)
that house looked like juliet's kid house when her parents got divorced but maybe i am making that up (OR IT IS HER SECRET OTHER SISTER WHO IS NOT DYING OF CANCER)
― bwoling and drifting (tehresa), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:17 (sixteen years ago)
xpost Isn't that Ben's mum, or do you mean Annie? I can't remember which one Juliet was meant to look like. Good theory if it's Annie, as she was meant to be important but hasn't really been mentioned since Ben's flashback.
― Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 06:23 (sixteen years ago)
ben's momhttp://www.buddytv.com/articles/108losties/108losties/emilylinus.jpg
