bnw, Sunday, 7 February 2010 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

i didn't see this burn notice idea being as funny as it is

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 7 February 2010 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

Doesn't zut alors translate closer to "damn it?"

Garth and Kat is a really funny idea, although I think it can be executed/enunciated even better then the two times they've done it.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 7 February 2010 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

"judges?"

*shrug*

kenan, Sunday, 7 February 2010 06:03 (sixteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 7 February 2010 06:05 (sixteen years ago)

cholula bankhead (m bison), Sunday, 7 February 2010 22:02 (sixteen years ago)

chain?

harbl, Sunday, 7 February 2010 22:03 (sixteen years ago)

coulda just been andrew wk to me

in that case, it wouldn't be a lifechanging piece of comedy. the anti-reagan pastiche of sub-dead kennedys cali hardcore bands is the thing. i didn't think it was that subtle! the first line is about reagan's fascist regime or something. ha, take that alexander haig!

dylannn, Monday, 8 February 2010 01:17 (sixteen years ago)

Guys if that wedding band sketch wasn't funny to you, I really don't know how to help you. I haven't laughed that hard at the show in years. Years.

you gone float up with it (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 8 February 2010 01:24 (sixteen years ago)

loool ok the band was called "crisis of conformity" that's awesome

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 8 February 2010 01:33 (sixteen years ago)

ashton in suit and tie singing "yo, maybe i should, like, put on my suit, and my tieeee, and eat a happy meal!". and then grabbing his tie for emphasis when he sings "tie." good heads up by ashton wrt grohl's mic, too. i'd like to see a rehearsal version of this whole thing; maybe the lyrics are more audible.

abby elliot looked v v pretty as a redhead, btw.

sudekis' part in the sketch made it that much more awesome. if he had been horrified or offended then it would have been like "lol, these fucking guys, on stage," but his responsiveness kinda implied that no, it's dads pretty much everywhere who are like this.

armisen did a passable mike muir on the "institutionalized" middle bit.

slugbuggy, Monday, 8 February 2010 14:49 (sixteen years ago)

or maybe that's just a generalized socal hardcore voice, idk, like nowadays there's a general pop punk voice that's not really specific to blink or whatever.

i had to look up cadena but ha!

slugbuggy, Monday, 8 February 2010 14:53 (sixteen years ago)

armisen had the hardcore singer jerkaround dance down pat

max, Monday, 8 February 2010 15:05 (sixteen years ago)

ok now i get cadena

harbl, Monday, 8 February 2010 15:07 (sixteen years ago)

^^ lol, took me until after the sketch to get that, too

Just watched "What is Burn Notice?" sketch on Hulu. Sudekis is hilarious in that.

El Poopo Loco (Pancakes Hackman), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:09 (sixteen years ago)

El Vez and Genesis P-Orridge (drinkin' a Summit?)

Such A Hilbily (Dan Peterson), Monday, 8 February 2010 19:13 (sixteen years ago)

was the joke of the wedding band sketch that hardcore is old enough to be played by dads now or

Part of me wondered if this sketch was in any way inspired by having Them Crooked Vultures as musical guest.

I laughed like hell at it, partly because of the level of detail, but I really don't think the joke would be lost on people who knew nothing about hardcore.

oɔsıqɐu (nabisco), Monday, 8 February 2010 20:36 (sixteen years ago)

good heads up by ashton wrt grohl's mic, too. i'd like to see a rehearsal version of this whole thing; maybe the lyrics are more audible.

i second-guessed it later, but totally assumed at first that this was an intentional acknowledgement of faulty mics at live hardcore shows

da croupier, Monday, 8 February 2010 20:37 (sixteen years ago)

don't forget grohl was in Scream as a teen!

da croupier, Monday, 8 February 2010 20:38 (sixteen years ago)

the one scream song on the american hardcore soundtrack SMOKES

yeah i figured the broken mic was a planned thing
