I saw one half of one episode of ANTM and it made me have some really patronizing thoughts about fashion design/photography as art so I don't think I'm going to comment.

Jordan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I think that ANTM is probably to fashion as TRL is to music as Thomas Kincaide is to painting, so you have to take it with a bucket of salt.

It's one of those cases where if it's convincing it's too creepy and if it's not convincing it's awkward.

Eazy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

So when the dick is Project Runway coming back?

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:40 (eighteen years ago)

Though it has been reported that the fourth season will premiere November 14th, 2007, Bravo said in late August 2007 that no date had yet been finalized.

grrr. Fuckers. Tim Gunn is my dad and all, but his new show is just a makeover show.

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

I've never seen a fashion reality/competition show. I saw about 10 minutes of American Idol in a pizza place next to the Addison red line one night -- it was early on in the process, when they were trying to weed through thousands of auditioners -- and that was kind of interesting because no one was very polished or even had accompaniment.

Eazy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

Too much music gear I want to buy:

New semihollowbody guitar (now looking at this)
Reel-to-reel recorder (but there are so many kinds and prices and I don't know anything about it)
Mixer
Mics
Effects pedals
Other crap I don't need

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

Other crap I don't need

but would totally use and enjoy, that's important, too.

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

I need like $5,000.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

I think it would be especially bitchin' to get a reel-to-reel recorder but in addition to the above misgivings it's probably a bad idea to simultaneously teach myself to use one properly and record a new FF album on it.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

I would watch a game show called I Need Like $5,000, as long as it involved trivia or a wheel of some kind and not degradation.

Eazy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

Cash Cab! Which is a very satisfying half hour of "lolz god people are stupid."

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

xpost to EZ -I like it. It reminds me of the Billy Dreamer KITH sketches.

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

nick, it seems your "lazy zing" thread has gone monkey side. Too bad. It could have been beautiful. :(

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

I'm craving jellybeans (!).

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Obv, there must be some important vitamin in jellybeans that my body NEEDS.

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

This is the awesomest, but $160 shipping/handling! http://cgi.ebay.com/Tascam-388-Studio-8-Reel-to-Reel-8-Track-Recorder-Mixer_W0QQitemZ320157757475QQihZ011QQcategoryZ41480QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I went through a phase where I ate starburst jellybeans constantly. Jelly Belly scares me...the good ones are great but the bad ones are enough to make me avoid random assortments. I wouldn't mind some sour patch kids though.

Lucy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

xp ROAD TRIP @ VEGAS!!!!

dan m, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:04 (eighteen years ago)

I love Sour Patch Kids!

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

They're the best. I eat them until my mouth hurts.

Lucy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

john . . . are you on here? I just sent you my first sound art piece to listen to!

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

also, my husband's favorite jelly beans are the starburst ones. he will eat an entire bag in one sitting & so I'm no longer allowed to buy them for him - per his request.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, jelly bellies require too much work for me because you have to pick out the best ones. I want a candy I can go to town with.

xp ROAD TRIP @ VEGAS!!!!
I wouldn't wanna go to Vegas again (well, not without the boss's money anyway, ha), but EZ's descriptions of the surrounding areas sounded wonderful.

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

also, my husband's...
:-D

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

Hi. I will go check my e-mail!

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, isn't it still kinda weird to say that?

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

I like jelly beans ok but my faves are Sugar Babies, which are kind of like jelly beans. They are the same size and shape.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

I feel like sugar babies get their own category.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

Jelly Beans are too sticky-in-the-teethy for me.

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

Sugar babies are TOO SWEET for lil ol' me.

I am reading this book at my desk:

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

It is extremely easy to read and entertaining. I enjoyed her other book too. It's just funny though, because she's this woman in her 60's who keeps slipping into rants about Kids These Days...

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

I was just talking the other night about how some married guys I know say "the wife" (as in "I gotta go check up on the wife") and it strikes me as self-conscious and goofy and playful, but then other people say it and while I can tell there was originally an ironic intent, it seems to have been lost over time and they just sound like depressed middle-aged men.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

I will NEVER say "Hubby"

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

"Hubby Leaf and I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics after work."

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

What about "the old ball and chain"?

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

(Note: Sarah wants to go to Jo-Ann Fabrics)

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

I go there too frequently it seems.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

I was making a Jean Teasdale joke.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

ha! i never even saw your comment until now!

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Has anyone noticed the posters for the upcoming movie, Why Did I Get Married? I'm sensing a theme (see also: (I Think) I love my Wife).

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Nick, how do you refer to me when talking to, say, folks at work? Just by name?

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

"that bitch I married"

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

I kid, of course.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

I'm a bitch, I'm a mother, I'm a child, I'm a lover, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint...!

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

Usually I just say your name, if it's someone I don't know as well I might say "my wife" but it is weird.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

There should be a hipper term for "wife."

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

I realized that in class last week I kept referring to Leaf as "my husband" and after maybe the third time doing that, I just blurted out, "His name is Leaf & I will call him Leaf hence forth!"

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha

N- Wifey?

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

Try saying that with a straight face though.
