CAD would you believe that I've never been to Anna's? I lived about 5 mins away from the one in Brookline for the longest time too. Just had Boca Grande for the first time last week (verdict - was good) so now on a mission to try Anna's in the near future.

That said, now that I'm living in Eastie where there are a million authentic central/south american joints it almost seems like a crime to go to anywhere else.

I like Chipotle, but then I don't live in NYC next to a mexican takeout place where you can get huitlacoche enchiladas at 3 am. Which apparently everyone in NYC has.
Taco Bell always makes me think of that old SNL sketch where Dan Aykroyd is the sleazy businessman selling ground up insects to schools to use in their lunches.

the mere memory/fear of how i'll feel after i eat taco bell has kept me away for a long long time, though i ate it pretty consistently in the years 1993 to 1998.
chipotle is BLAND AS FUCK -- kinda similar to subway, really, when you mistakenly ask for lettuce and then remember they put on a half-pound to make your sandwich look huge and filling -- and even if all that fat/calorie shit upthread is wrong, chiptole burritos still way too high in cal/fat when i can get a much tastier burrito down the block.
qdoba is, admittedly, the work of the devil.
― strongohulkingtonsghost, Friday, 5 February 2010 13:43 (fourteen years ago) link
why are you getting lettuce on your burritos?!

I've gone to that new Mexican place, Tracer - our waitress was so appalling I don't know if I'll ever go back. It was deeply embarrassing because my dining companion was greeted warmly by his friend, the owner, and we were comped drinks that the waitress took 30 minutes to bring (and had to be reminded). After that, we had to give her a second reminder about 'where is the salsa and chips?', and 30 minutes after that we had to remind her to bring my friend's entree (mine somehow came out minus fixings, with the salsa and chips), and when I asked 'where the guac at?' was told that they'd run out.
Sticking to Wahaca, Donkey Daddy and the nest of burrito wagons/cafés around Goodge Street.

My Burrito Bol Print E-mailWritten by ChipotLoser
Secret Burrito BolSecret Burrito BolHere is my SECRET Burrito Bol weightloss formula.
Breakfast: cup of coffee and an egg (scrambled or hardboiled).
Lunch: Fajita Bol (peppers, onions, steak, tomato salsa, green tomatillo salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, romaine lettuce)
Dinner: Fajita Bol (peppers, onions, steak, tomato salsa, green tomatillo salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, romaine lettuce)
Yes. I eat two of these burrito bols each day. This totals about 1480 calories and 29 impact carbohydrates daily.
Do not be fooled. This diet is not solely based on calories. It has a slightly low-carb effect. So, stick with my Chipotle Diet formula. The only substitution you should make is the meat. You can choose any meat, however, the chicken may be best for weightloss. I usually get the steak and it hasn't hurt me yet. Check My Progress.
Oh and don't forget to order guacamole, cheese and sour cream. Yes, you can have all of these! I do.

"mexican"
― ♖♕♖ (am0n), Friday, 5 February 2010 16:16 (fourteen years ago) link
it's so easy to make a tightly wrapped burrito that doesn't end up like someone vomited on you halfway through the meal -- you just have to steam the tortilla for longer/at a hotter temp than the chipotle people do
also, their employees have this weird messianic complex ime?
― J0rdan S., Friday, 5 February 2010 16:43 (fourteen years ago) link
mexicanic complex

like alright for instance, in my college town here in missouri, we're not exactly authentic taco truck, usa & all the joints around campus are chains, and admittedly chipotle is the best one, but their employees act as if chipotle is some gift to the community. maybe it's different in other places? idk
― J0rdan S., Friday, 5 February 2010 16:48 (fourteen years ago) link
they get really put off if you ask them to re-roll your burrito because if it's too big they just fold the flap over and look up and smile at you

― max, Friday, 5 February 2010 16:51 (fourteen years ago) link
i feel like it's a company wide problem, amon
― J0rdan S., Friday, 5 February 2010 16:51 (fourteen years ago) link
no i don't get burritos there anymore, but imo you should be able to unwrap the foil without the thing opening up into your lap like a sewage pipe
the one near me, 90% of the employees are hispanic and seem to have a fast food worker complex
― ♖♕♖ (am0n), Friday, 5 February 2010 16:54 (fourteen years ago) link
i think the chipotle ppl were miswrapping ur burrito or something

i just meant that a chipotle in a lollege town will probably have lollege students employed there. and lollege students sometimes tend to impart an air of importance to anything they do, even if its making fast food burritos

i don't even know if this has come up her but fair warning to everyone itt, if i see you asking a chipotle employee to mix up the components of your burrito with a fork i will kill you irl

it is a completely understandable impulse which for whatever reason just comes out completely monstrous.
anyway chipotle is a pretty good calorie bomb when slathered in guacamole
