It looks like Grand Theft Auto, Madden (of some unidentified year) and at least Spiderman the DVD. None bear the rental spine stickers, so I'm guessing owned, not rented.

It actually looks like GTA: San Andreas, which would put this photo within the last two years!

Anyone else have any ideas on the DVD/game stack on the right? The Miller Lite cans look like the ones I had last weekend, so they're of no help.

I think this is most definitely a dorm room, and whoever suggested the first-week awkward meeting random people scenario is probably right. My dorm in Tennessee had air-conditioners just like that, and it dressers like that, and probably nicer were not uncommon, especially in places like language houses, or even nicer dorms. The person who took the picture is probably the dude's room-mate, and they're all there to smoke a bowl.

1) A/C
2) Beds in dorms not usually metal frame type like that
3) Styling on dresser
4) Carpeting
5) VENETIAN BLINDS. Dorms usually have pull blinds.

It's not a dorm, but it's not Mom's house either. Mom's house has central heat and a/c, and even if she did allow a window unit, it would be insulated with caulk and not duct tape.
