max, Saturday, 2 January 2010 23:39 (sixteen years ago)

and could someone put an announcement on top of site new answers saying that no boys are allowed to post in the no boys allowed in the room with a picture of a male stick figure with an "x" over it?

sarahel, Saturday, 2 January 2010 23:40 (sixteen years ago)

I've always wanted to push for an ILX Treehouse, but in this economy...

Cunga, Saturday, 2 January 2010 23:41 (sixteen years ago)

could there be a cute animal of the week that appears on top of site new answers?

sarahel, Saturday, 2 January 2010 23:42 (sixteen years ago)

i wasn't planning to vote in that poll but now wild horses couldn't stop me, i'm a sucker for intrusive exhortations.

estela, Saturday, 2 January 2010 23:45 (sixteen years ago)

can we get various robots to read out ilx posts like on The Net starring Sandra Bullock?

koogs, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

i'd like them all in a 7 Zark 7 voice

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 6 January 2010 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

five months pass...

it would be awesome if we could see our SB total (kinda like our # of posts on the boards page).

youngdel griffith (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 04:21 (sixteen years ago)

have people not talked about this by now? i kind assumed it would have been. thinking it would maybe open up a can of worms like trying to figure out who just SB'd you and revenge SBs and a brand new way to have clusterfuck threads. the idea sounds practical at a glance, and i dunno maybe could illuminate SBable behaviour, but makes SBing a little less opaque and anonymity seems pretty consciously built in to the SB system? or else why wouldn't have just have that feature instead of that rolling SB total thread?

tru oyster kvlt (arby's), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 09:58 (sixteen years ago)

arby's OTM about the dangers of an instant SB notification

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 10:03 (sixteen years ago)

Have it updated monthly instead.

Adge Cutler & the Özils (NickB), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 10:13 (sixteen years ago)

van smack, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 16:51 (sixteen years ago)

i realize that would never happen, but that would be so, so great

(roxymuzak) ((((d-.-b)))) (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 16:51 (sixteen years ago)

Can I get a notification via text when I get sb'd

ksmh (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:44 (sixteen years ago)

Can I get a notification via text when I'm used in someone's DN

ksh, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

you guys must have incredible text msg plans

iatee, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:51 (sixteen years ago)

having SMS completely disabled was my idea of an incredible text msg plan

ksh, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:53 (sixteen years ago)

Would it be possible to pull every post you've ever made into a word or text file or something? Or to just display them all on one screen? Like, I understand that I could search for posts by my login i.d. and then copy and paste them myself, but doing that five posts at a time would be tedious for people with thousands of posts.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:24 (sixteen years ago)

but not for a moderator to code

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:26 (sixteen years ago)

Well, my best guess is that it would involve a bit of work, but maybe there's some incredibly easy way to make it happen. I'm not certain of what would be involved in this, is why I'm asking.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:39 (sixteen years ago)

:)

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:40 (sixteen years ago)

Why would you want to do such a thing?

Adge Cutler & the Özils (NickB), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:45 (sixteen years ago)

first novel

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:46 (sixteen years ago)

Compiling a book, obviously. Or NaNoWriMo cheating.

"Words I Have Writ" by kkvgz

xpost, gah.

emil.y, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:47 (sixteen years ago)

lol you'll never get a novel done with that typing speed

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:51 (sixteen years ago)

Actually, it hit me the other day when people were talking about "oh no, I've made 10,000 posts on ilx when I could have been writing a novel." I got to thinking about how many ilx posts are lengthy autobiographical episodes and how it would be great to compile my own such posts, just for personal use. I've put a lot of time into writing such posts and dredging up old memories and if ilx were to disappear for whatever reason, all that would be gone.

Scrolling through 5 posts at a time for any reason is a real pain in the ass though.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:53 (sixteen years ago)

Eh okay.

Adge Cutler & the Özils (NickB), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 11:59 (sixteen years ago)

Just an idea, anyway.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 12:03 (sixteen years ago)

No, it's kind of a nice idea, but the thought of seeing 10,000 of my own posts... *shudder*

Adge Cutler & the Özils (NickB), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 12:09 (sixteen years ago)

You and me both, buddy.

jaymc, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 12:38 (sixteen years ago)

thirded

I understand that I could search for posts by my login i.d.

This doesn't seem to work for me anymore - I only get posts where other people have used my full name instead. Any chance this could be fixed (or otherwise explained to moron me)?

On the plus side, my attempt did flag up some wags making fun of me on another board during my early days here. Nice touch, guys.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 12:57 (sixteen years ago)

haha

iSleighBellsTellem (zvookster), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:00 (sixteen years ago)

I can search under your display name, ismael

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:01 (sixteen years ago)

I would like the accumulated texts of my posts to be presented in the shape of jean luc picard's facepalm pose. My guess is his would be about 3 minutes of coding.

bnw, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:03 (sixteen years ago)

Oh man, Ismael. Pretty much you only got made fun of when you first started posting.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:07 (sixteen years ago)

Hm yes, seems to work just dandy now - ineptitude seems the likely explanation here

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

i remember when i started posting, pretty much the first few years i was horribly picked on by one poster in particular, don something, i think. it was heartbreaking. he's not around anymore though.

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:19 (sixteen years ago)

too lazy to search upthread but one thing I'd love to see (which I'm certain we never will) is an "ignore thread" option

maybe I'll poke around the killfile script and see if I can modify that to support it

Opinions are a lot like assholes. You've got LOTS of BOTH of them. (HI DERE), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:53 (sixteen years ago)

what would that do- enable you to not physically click on and read a thread?

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

It would be like killfilling a thread from New Answers. Potentially useful for reading ILX at work without certain threads popping up I'd say.

Vulvuzela (Matt DC), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:56 (sixteen years ago)

^^^ bingo

based on logical thinking (HI DERE), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 13:59 (sixteen years ago)

Are there bosses out there that are more likely to be more bothered by individual thread titles than the fact that you're not doing ANY FUCKING WORK?

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

Cos I need a boss like that tbh

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

Maybe a suggest ban counter? So ilxors would know how many people they have pissed off without having to ask a mod.

ô_o (Nicole), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

This is a brilliant idea, Dan.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

Yours too, Nicole, although I'm sure that's been brought up before in various sb clusterfucks.

kkvgz, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

Any mod i've ever requested an SB count from has had a gleeful, if not outright maliciously satisfied, mien.

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

oh no, I've made 10,000 posts on ilx when I could have been writing a novel. outside, playing.

Ned Trifle (Notinmyname), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

i would've loved to have killfiled the viking thread
