impairs ppl's judgment of comedy. dud.

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:31 (sixteen years ago)

morbs fwiw i am opposite when it comes to that! because i'm one of those weirdos that eschews human/social interaction when i get stoned, i also get hypercritical of film and comedy. like a lot of stoneriffic highly visual favs just look gross and fake to me, and idiot comedy becomes grotesque. my ~friends~ get hilarious, but most movies or w/e seem forced. the only movie i can think of that was genuinely "better" on w33d was Jackie Brown, and I think the pacing had a lot to do with it. it's also just a dope-ass movie anyway

just fyi

dome plow (gbx), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:37 (sixteen years ago)

I once watched King of Comedy and it freaked me out. So I switched to the Brothers Solomon. I think the thing about watching flicks under the influence is that they make really awful films tolerable. I didn't suddenly think Brothers Solomon was a good movie, but I enjoyed watching it and talking about it. (I did watch House Bunny about a week ago and it was one of the funniest films I've ever seen -- I'm afraid to watch it sober and discover it's not as funny as I thought.)

RONG (for me)

i understand that this is how most weed-heads operate, but i am the exact opposite. tolerable films become awful. just, like, deeply, deeply awful. directorial missteps, wooden acting, shitty FX, w/e---they all come to the fore and i'm usually revolted. then again, really great (or v v competent/cohesive) films can improve, because i'm willing to trust (for lack of a better word) the experience.

dome plow (gbx), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:46 (sixteen years ago)

yes having better "judgment" of comedy is preferable to laughing more often

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:49 (sixteen years ago)

who said this is about preferences

dome plow (gbx), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:52 (sixteen years ago)

oh wait that was @ morbs?

dome plow (gbx), Monday, 28 December 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Monday, 28 December 2009 02:06 (sixteen years ago)

my goal is to hone my judgment to where i laugh at one marx bros gag and nothing else.

"and two hardboiled eggs."

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Monday, 28 December 2009 02:18 (sixteen years ago)

my experience of bad movies is the same as gbx. And almost anything on television is cruel punishment.

kenan, Monday, 28 December 2009 02:38 (sixteen years ago)

I will tell you what not to watch when you are extremely high, and that is: Irreversible.

^^totally otm. i will try Jackie Brown stoned though.

i find i'm much better suited for physcial, outdoor activities when stoned. nothing particularly intense or competitive, mind you.

bum-sniff deviant (cutty), Monday, 28 December 2009 22:39 (sixteen years ago)

The few times I've been stoned when outdoors, I just get anxious. Prefer to just hang out with friends in a warm room.

Francis Ford Copacabana (jaymc), Monday, 28 December 2009 22:40 (sixteen years ago)

like a steam room? friends, eh?

bum-sniff deviant (cutty), Monday, 28 December 2009 22:45 (sixteen years ago)

Outdoors in the city or outdoors real outdoors?

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Monday, 28 December 2009 22:46 (sixteen years ago)

Fair point: it's never been in the real outdoors.

Francis Ford Copacabana (jaymc), Monday, 28 December 2009 22:55 (sixteen years ago)

duuuuude

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Monday, 28 December 2009 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

fair point: he's only been stoned twice

bum-sniff deviant (cutty), Monday, 28 December 2009 23:11 (sixteen years ago)

In the past week, maybe.

Francis Ford Copacabana (jaymc), Monday, 28 December 2009 23:16 (sixteen years ago)

Missouri is great for outdoor stone.
Cave state! In/out.
I like a high drive in the country.

Trip Maker, Monday, 28 December 2009 23:33 (sixteen years ago)

there was a nice wooded park right across the street from my dorm freshman year. nothing fancy, just a few trails that led down to a nice little creek (good place to find crawdads in the summer). usually a few joggers around, but not so many that you had to be paranoid; just enough that you would occasionally see somebody and smile at them and think "man, that dude has now idea how awesome I feel right now."

lololol

As one mother put it, "I think life is better when you feel good."

you have to forgive me (surm), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:03 (sixteen years ago)

I like how the lady in the audience said that she doesn't "take a giant xanax like a lot of people do" -- is mother's little helper really still that widespread among the Average American Mom demographic?

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

Also hilarious how Tyty was like "ARE YOU HIGH RIGHT NOW?!?!"

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

hahahahah leave it to ty

yeah i wanna kno where the xanax is at

you have to forgive me (surm), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:14 (sixteen years ago)

xanax is very prevalent yes

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:15 (sixteen years ago)

is it like a valium?

you have to forgive me (surm), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:17 (sixteen years ago)

ya

max, Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:19 (sixteen years ago)

less potent than a valium, more of an anti-anxiety than a tranq

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:20 (sixteen years ago)

you can function on xanax without being a zombi

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:20 (sixteen years ago)

makin an appointment with my dr

you have to forgive me (surm), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:23 (sixteen years ago)

valium is technically anti-anxiety too

max, Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:26 (sixteen years ago)

mmm valium

you have to forgive me (surm), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 15:47 (sixteen years ago)

the night's sleep you get on valium and red wine is...like floating on a cloud of titties

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 16:01 (sixteen years ago)

werewolf bar mitzvah of the xx (gbx), Tuesday, 16 February 2010 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

when i was a kid i thought xanax was a laxative i guess because of the 'x' in both? idk

Lamp, Tuesday, 16 February 2010 18:15 (sixteen years ago)

Xanax erases my memory. I like that loose feeling, tho.
