two months pass...

SCANDAL!:

The question is whether this is a really smart or really stupid decision by The CW's boss Dawn Ostroff. I'm told a contract controversy is preventing Tori Spelling from joining that so-called "edgy, contemporary spin-off" of the '90s hit 90210 on the network this fall as planned. Insiders tell me that Tori was hired to reprise her role as fashion boutique owner Donna Martin for just "$10,000-$20,000" per episode. But then Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty were signed for "$35,000-$50,000" a show. When Tori found out her former co-stars were getting paid way more than she was, she got pissed and demanded equal pay. But the network suits have refused. So now my sources tell me that Tori has pulled out of the series, which premieres with a 2-hour special on September 2nd. "She thought she deserved parity, and she's got a point," an insider explained to me.

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:31 (seventeen years ago)

thirtysomethings with teenage kids? did they have kids when they were 15?

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

i kind of hated donna and was mad that i might be associated with her since we shared the same last name but these days im kind of in love with tori spelling.

sunny successor, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)

when they were 15 they were in 3rd grade! xp

wanko ergo sum, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

shakey, have you not seen the soap phenomenon where a 4 y/o character will disappear for a few weeks and return as a 16 y/o?

sunny successor, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:45 (seventeen years ago)

Tori Spelling was SO much more tolerable than Jenny Garth and Shannon Doherty by the time of Season Four.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

horseshoe, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

ps you can have a kid when you're 24 and the kid will be 15 when you're a "thirtysomething" HI I AM ALBERT EINSTEIN CERTIFIED MATH GENIUS

n/a, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

I know its possible it just seems like the window for that to be the case is kinda narrow, esp given the kind of characters we're talking about here (lolz I guess Andrea had a kid right out of high school, right? but she was 45 to begin with haha)

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:58 (seventeen years ago)

:)

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)

brenda was reaaaally pissed about that

Surmounter, Thursday, 21 August 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

This should be a fun show. I have high hopes anyway. Yep, shakey mo, you have to be a seasoned soap fan to completely ignore the impossibility of a one year old that disappears for a few months and comes back as a teen. It’s just a leap you have to allow your brain to make – kinda like when you’re watching a musical; you have to accept in your head that people really do sing dialogue to each other. It’s all good fun.

Wiggy Woo, Thursday, 21 August 2008 18:31 (seventeen years ago)

it's sort of like watching Lost and trying to ignore the lack of showers/hairdryers/makeup/American Eagles present on the island.

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 21 August 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

M@tt I really hope you're wearing a black shirt with a big 4 on it.

SoapNet to Run 24 Hour 90210 Marathon Before New Series Premiere

SoapNet will air a 24-hour marathon of the original “Beverly Hills, 90210” on Sept. 1 starting at midnight. Twenty-four episodes from the show’s first four seasons will be featured.

The marathon is in anticipation of the premiere of The CW’s spinoff “90210” on Sept. 2.

A CW spokesman said the network was not connected to the SoapNet promotion and that The CW had not bought any ad time during the marathon to promote its new “90210.”

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 21 August 2008 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

Jennie Garth, analyst:

"It's going to reflect teenagers as they are. It's not going to sugarcoat it. You know teenagers are teenagers no matter if they live in Beverly Hills or if they live in crazy Kansas somewhere. All the kids are the same. They're going through the same elemental issues and problems."

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 21:49 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)
